The events that have participated in Key Club are the Socal Corgi Beach Day and the Clinton Corner Parent meeting for this month. I enjoy these two events because I learn how to become more outgoing and being collaborated with other people not only from my school but those that came to the same event. The Socal Corgi Beach Day was taken n Huntington beach, we had to set up the event, help out at other station. My job was to take of Mr. Pickles, a corgi dog, it was an easy job I asked people if they wanted a picture with him. Another event with the Clinton Corner parent meeting, I was only 5 minutes late because I have a college class. I asked permission to finish my work early and I had to do the quiz before I had to leave for the event.
Key Club the motto is “Caring--Our Way of Life” what that means is caring for others and helping others less fortunate than ourselves. Caring and serving others something that I have always been passionate about doing. If I were selected to become a member of Key Club I would design a service project that would help all students get involved with serving the community. My service project that I would design would be entitled “Nights of Poverty”. As teenagers we all enjoy going out with our friends and eating dinner and hanging out. On Friday or Saturday nights I would design a project to where instead of going out with friends to eat we would all come together as a school for dinner and donate money to another city school to assist
Like other service clubs, Key Club offers a variety of activities that gives us members plenty to choose from. These are opportunities that many students would participate in but are disoriented as to where to look; Key club facilitates this search. Volunteer activities such as Blood Drive, Humane Society and school clean ups have made me realize that there are endless possibilities to help out my community. Blood drive will help save individuals on the verge of life and death. Humane Society will provide care for animals that have reached a point of learned helplessness. School clean ups has kept our facility a symbol of pride. Knowing I saved a life, helped the helpless, and made my school a better place brings me pride beyond that of any materialistic thing. Standing up with fellow Key Club members not
Joseph Campbell is a leading mythology expert and philosopher who studied all myths from around the world and found the “Hero’s Journey,” a pattern or algorithm that appears in common in myth, religious ritual, and storytelling. The Hero’s Journey has three elements, separation, initiation and return. If I think about myself, coming to Hawaii by myself was a separation from my comfortable zone where I was surrounded by my supportive family. First time when I came here, I could not say anything and became quiet because I thought people would think I was a stupid and not understand me. I was afraid of how people think about my language skills. However, I tried to speak from myself, asked people to collect my mistakes, accepted what I cannot do
Key Club is a way to ameliorate communities around the world. Through different events, activities, and projects we are instilling hope in society, and consequently, improving it. James. E Taylor Key Club has dedicated numerous hours to our local area throughout the years. We are constantly dedicating more and more hours as time progresses and as our club size increases. Key Club does not only help better communities, but it also aids in the development of good character, and leadership abilities. While helping others and yourself, Key Club is also a way to meet extraordinary people, who could potentially end up being your life-long friend. Key Club is a way to interact with different people and unite to help those in need. Something that
Many people do community service, in and out of school. However, many haven't had the event opportunities I've had in the past. For this reason I am grateful for being a member of Key Club. Through my Key Club experience I have been able to assist families who have had to dealt with cancer and abuse. In the month of October alone, I have been able to to attend two walks for cancer. The first walk I attended was the Annual Believe Walk, hosted at Redlands. Waking up at 4:30am and volunteering with such an amazing organization might have been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had the pleasure to experience. The second was the Light the Night Leukemia and Lymphoma Walk, hosted at Fontana. Attending this walk was a different experience
I do not want our Key Clubbers to be constantly given the same type of events that do not interest them, or different versions of older events, like races. I want to draw in events that will interest our Key Clubbers and help them grow as a person as well as helping people. I think that acquiring more events that show more different cultures, and sides of our community, will help our Key Clubbers feel more motivated and passionate about what they do. I also plan to make sure each event does not have an overfill of volunteers. Some events that I have gone to, seem to have too many volunteers, and a lot of volunteers who want to help, do not get the opportunity
These past four years of Key Club have taught me many things. I’ve gained an appreciation for service and understood its impacts, as well as gained responsibility and leadership skills as President. Key Club is one of two clubs I’ve stuck around throughout my entire high school experience. The reason being that it has allowed me to improve myself while helping others improve themselves
Hi Key Clubbers! I’m Bonnie, I enjoy reddit stories, aesthetics, organizing and music that are rubbish. I joined Key Club, because it was similar to the organization that I used to volunteer at, but Clackamas Key Club was more than just volunteering. It allowed me to gain experiences that I would like all the members to
It is sad to say that my time in Key Club International has come to an end. All the memories of countless volunteering, of meeting people from all over the Pacific Northwest District, and of being on the District Board, I believe it’s safe to say my Key Club journey has been an unparalleled experience. Key Club brought me a sense of fulfillment, that strove me to break down the barriers I once had. The feeling of getting involved in my community and meeting servant leaders all over the world made me realize the purpose of this organization, which is to serve our community and to better our future.
I chose to break the norm of either smiling at strangers or giving them a neutral look when you make eye contact. I decided to give every stranger I passed a confused look like they had just spoken to me in another language. I must admit, this made me feel a bit goofy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to do this in the first place but I decided I just had to. The responses I received were quite comical. A few people asked if I was alright, and one person even asked if I had a problem with them.
I had a lot of fun this summer. I spent a great amount of time with my family and friends. This summer I hung out with my friends, I went on some vacations, and I worked at True Value.
"Fresh off the boat" or "F.O.B" for short is a term which means carrying your sense of fashion and culture from your country which clashes with the current country's culture. That term is what I was referred to when I first started school in America. I did not understand the American culture or the way the system worked.
One of my biggest struggles I deal with everyday is that I feel like I’m one of the few people who actually does things from the heart. I don’t do something because someone told me it was a good idea or because I’ll look good to other people. I can provide you with plenty of examples to clarify this and the easiest example I can think of would be school. I bet that 75% of high school students only go to classes because it’s federal law. Most of them (including me at one point) go there to just memorize stuff and try to make our parents happy with decent grades. Rarley, would you get a kid like me who attends class to learn about a variety of topics and actually retain the information. Even though many of my classes incoporate topics I won’t ever use (or take the
I was all alone flying around as a pink bird named Juan and I was doing whatever I wanted. I was just eating every piece of food I saw. So I got hit a lot by people, then I had finally meet one of my best friends named Luis and he was a blue dog. We were going to Vegas and that when this all really started.
Sometimes the throttle sticks. The hardest part is the smooth acceleration when the waves around you rock the boat. As the waves get bigger, I see my family's fists adjust grips on the railing. White knuckled, and lips pursed, they anticipate each wave. Salty waves break over the side and spray mist. My glasses are speckled with the dried salt from the repeated watery assaults. My sister turns to me, a slanted smile dressing her face. She is trying to impart confidence, but the repeated “fuel flow restriction” alarm weighs on her. Everything I value in life has managed to fit on a floating piece of plastic, driven by 150 horses. This flimsy container drifts in the boundless expanse of unsure tides, waves, and winds. I must navigate and control my ship by fighting the unknown water. As a large wave appears at the bow, I am reminded of my first experiences with boats.
