If I was trapped in a snow globe I would play in the snow. I would try to make the best of it. Then, I would try to figure out how to get out. I would bang on the glass. Maybe if I scream the glass would break. No, that wouldn't work I can't scream loud enough. But, if I dig alot I might find a way. Seven hours later……. There is no use. I’m kinda getting hungry and I don't see any food. As I’m trying to get out I see this huge person picks up the globe and starts shaking. I hold onto the tree for dear life while he is shaking the globe. Finally he puts it down. That's the story of when I got stuck in a snow
The smell of popcorn filled the spring air. I was running as fast as I could, there was no stopping me. The pitcher threw the baseball to second base as I started to race to home base. Voices of cheering and screaming of excitement filled my ears, motivating me to run faster. I stared at the catcher with confidence in my eyes, seeing his glove in the air, ready to catch the ball. He was too late, my foot touched the bag before it reached his glove. My best friend Olivia on the team ran over to me and gave me a hard high five. The rest of my team tackled me with joy. Olivia and I are the only girls on the team yet we are some of the best players they have. As we said good game to the other team, a feeling of being watched struck me. I turned my head to see a
I never thought I could find a feeling worst than the freezing temperatures inside an airplane, but the terrifying feeling of realizing you forgot something is 10 times worse. There is no other feeling than realizing you had forgotten one of the most important things need for your adventures.
In the eighties, I was a young police officer and a high-school athletic coach. In the fall, one night during wrestling season I had an experience that would change my life and Worldview forever, that fateful night would change numerous perspectives, perceptions and lives both young and old.
Colin and I both walk around to go try and find civilization to ask if there is actually a way out of this winter snow globe. After hours of searching we
Of course this doesn’t apply if you are in Las Vegas but mostly for northern cities. When walking in the snow during the winter, make sure to wrap plastic grocery bags around your socks so they don’t get wet or of course you could wear boots. Wet socks can ultimately lead to pneumonia or foot fungus that will have you walking in pain with a limp if left untreated. Some homeless people can’t afford boots, so try to get free ones from the Salvation Army as they sometimes give out free winter clothes.
This poem reminded me of the stories that my parents tell me of their experiences of snow, as I have never seen snow. My mother grew up in Michigan with her seven siblings and she has told me all about what it was like waking up to the thick layer of fresh snow encasing everything and how it was the children’s job to clear the drive and walk way before school. She always complains how she ended up being to one who did most of the work as her siblings tended to play around in the snow more than actually shoveling it. She moved to Florida when she was seventeen and sternly claims that she does not miss the snow one bit. My father, on the other hand, has always hated snow with a passion. He grew up moving around from state to state and he dreaded
“Click.” I hear the flick of a light switch and it goes dark. A soft melody starts to play. I slowly drift into a heavy sleep. When I awake The melody is gone but in a way I know it's still there. I get up and get out of my comfy bed which is filled with blankets and warmth. I look over to my dresser and I see it. The thing that holds the melody I love. It's a snow globe. A disney snow globe to be exact. Every night I turn it twice and fall asleep listening to it. The funny thing is that I always have the tune wherever I go. It follows me, and you want to know something? I don't mind it.
5. “All my life I had heard about the white crystals that feel out of American skies in the winter” (Alvarez 102). This story reminds me of the first time my boyfriend and I spent Christmas with his Aunt and uncle. Joshua, my Boyfriend, is From Ghana, tropical climaxed country with hot and humid days year-round in west Africa. Last Winter we went to visit some of his family In Maryland. Arriving in Maryland, stepping pass the electrical sliding doors of the airport was like stepping into heaven with Joshua. The glow in his eyes lit up my heart being that he had always had a compulsive fascination with snow. Everything from Sister Zoe’s Calm and nonchalant reaction of it being “Just Snow”, to the soft giggles falling form Yolanda’s Cheeks set me back to Joshua’s first experience of snow.
The sun was high in the sky with not a cloud visible. I was standing, ready position, in tall, green grass that looked like it hadn’t been cut all year, with the sun shining in my face. Heat licked my sunburned face and coiled around my limbs like a great hot-blooded serpent. The ground smoldered and sent up a disorienting haze. Even the birds were silent and the grass stood still as if too hot to move. Sweat trickled down my neck and back like warm soup. The cheering fans have a life of their own with everyone in black and orange attire. There is chatter between old friends catching up and new friends being made, but all I can hear is my mom shouting my name. Little did I know, I wouldn’t be able to hear, let alone see anything within the next few seconds of this game.
The warning sirens for the unexpected avalanche sounded. Nine out of ten of the women on the snowmobile vacation in Yellowstone National Park were ready to get to safety, away from the snow slide threat. It was a difficult decision for Corrine Meyer to make, but she had to face her deadly fear of heights to get to safety.
an experiment to his surprise he floated for a few seconds as if suspended by a invisible chain cast down from the heavens. Flapping them strongly he flew around with his arms pumped out like superman and his shoulder blades touching the black feathers every time they flapped. He saw Ethan pull out his wings and join him in the bright sunlight for a few seconds before crash landing into a tree. Getting back up he flew more steady through the air as Emily waved her fist at Ethan because he had landed on her.
As a child the best thing in the world is hearing the word snow day when you are half awake in the morning. A lot of children just sleep in and watch cartoons in their warm cozy homes, but I was in an all-boys neighborhood, so there was no way I would be able to sleep in without being disturbed.
Look at all the snow She thinks there's just enough and out the door she goes working, working, to build him up She calls him little snowman He such a wonderful sight sitting in his winter wonderland she hopes he makes it through the night. If he's there when she awakes his family she will make everyday they can play until the sun takes them away
“Freeze!” As I heard that I didn’t even have time to react, my body just took over and started to sprint full speed. Me, Zack, and Andrew started to run through the thick woods. Branches slapping me across the face were cutting me up. The police started chasing us, as I look back all I can see is the bright light from the polices flashlight and him screaming “Stop or ill shoot!” We just kept running and made it to a gravel road. Zack and I crossed it and just lay down and tried to hide while Andrew kept running.
I woke to the sound of falling icicles smacking against the window. I ran downstairs, peeked out the window, and there it was snow up to my thighs. “ No, it can not be.” I thought. “I have never seen that much snow.” So I checked the window, and it was true, I was trapped in a Winter Wonderland. I could not help, but jump up and down at the thought of building my first fort. I am going to build the world’s best snow house! I screamed.
