Would you run into a burning building to save someone? Because, that is what I want to do after high school. I really enjoy helping others and putting a smile on their faces if I can. I also want to give back to this country by helping its everyday people. As a firefighter, I will be able to give back and enjoy what I do. This paper will explore the job description, requirements and salary for a certified firefighter. To start with, the job description for a firefighter includes many components. To be a firefighter you don’t have to go get a degree from a college, but you do have to be certified in E.M.T (emergency medical technician) and have a high school diploma or an equivalent. Firefighter must also have passed a written and physical test and also have gone through a series of interviews. In Kansas there are many places where you can get training in this field the two colleges I am thinking about attending would be Butler or Hutchison community college. Butler community college the E.M.T program is 11 credit hours and the cost is about 968 dollars for it all. Personality traits are a big part of becoming a firefighter because you have to show that you can be trusted and get the job done without endangering your fellow firefighters most firefighters has courage, decision making skills, and physical stamina in common. I feel the journey to becoming a firefighter is going to be a life changing experience that I will always hold close to me so if ever need be I will act and do my best in any situation to help another without putting anybody else in danger.
