I was unable to find an activity that I liked and so I decided that I would make one when I get to Rowan. A couple of months ago I had my last Sled Hockey Banquet and if you don’t know what Sled Hockey is, I will explain it to you. Sled Hockey is a sport similar to Ice Hockey, but sitting down. This is for those who can’t play normal stand up Ice Hockey. There are these sleds with bars and blades under a bucket that support us and two mini Hockey sticks that help us move on the ice. This sport was everything to me and I will miss it and my goal is to try to make Sled hockey at rowan. I want to incorporate this to Rowan because I know some students are going to have the same issue as me and I want to change that. It doesn’t even have to be
Snowboarding is one of the most enjoyed international pastimes. It presents you with this feeling of freedom and raw power as the cold air hits your face while you carve down the almost vertical mountain face dropping over steep clips and carving trough trees. These are just a few reasons why so many people internationally flock to the mountains to partake in this sport. Snowboarding provides people an escape from there comfort zone by pushing them to take on risks they would never have thought off before.
To most people, an ice rink is a place to go to spend time with others while clinging onto a bruised wall for two hours. For me, the ice rink is my second home. A place that I’ve dedicated countless hours practicing, working, and teaching in a place where it is winter all year round. From the cold, bitter mornings where you can see your own breath; to the times you catch yourself running over a bump due to the humidity coming from the ceilings dripping on you and the ice every 10 minutes, I spend more time at the rink than my own home. The ice rink is not just a place that I practice, it is a place where have grown accustomed to the feel of the ice and what makes it distinguishable from all the other rinks I have been to.
Second year as an Under-10 Squirt level hockey player for the New Jersey Colonials ice hockey team proved to be a challenging and harrowing experience that shaped the course of my future hockey career. I was a determined, naïve child with fantasies of playing in the NHL when I grew older. The source of my troubles began with Coach Ruben, a relentless, unforgiving hockey coach. Coach Ruben was in charge of determining the AAA hockey team that I desperately wanted to make. Unfortunately, I would not have that opportunity. My mom, compassionate and sympathetic, guided me through the confusing maze of anger and depression. My dad, a coach and former hockey player, gave me valuable, supportive advice that would change my hockey expectations and
My accomplishment of making the varsity lacrosse team has given me a new understanding of myself. 11.34 My journey began during my freshman year when I was a member of the JV lacrosse team. At the end of the season, the coaching staff called up a select group of individuals from the JV team to play for the varsity team in the playoffs.17.65 Unfortunately, I was not one of the players afforded the opportunity. 11.14When I got home that day, I told myself that I would never let that happen again and that I would do everything in my power to make the varsity team the following year. 13.98 As a result, that summer I worked extremely hard to improve my stick skills with my travel team and went to various tournaments where I competed against kids who were much better than me.15.02 1)However, as the summer ended, it was football season and I had to put my lacrosse training on hold so that I could focus on football. 2)Midway through the football season, I unfortunately suffered my third concussion
Lacrosse is not just a sport nor a hobby; it is a way of life. Teammates are not just friends, they are family. To illustrate, lacrosse forms bonds just as strong as friendships and family. In my opinion, lacrosse is an encouraging, sublime sport that should be apart of everybody’s lives. First or all, I play lacrosse for many reasons. To begin, I am my team’s goalie, and will hopefully play goalie during my high school career. I played the field for two years (beginning in third grade), and goalie for three more, landing me here in my fifth year of lacrosse. I play to help my team, encourage them, tell them where an open player is, and most importantly, I play for my love of the sport and my teammates. Every year, I look forward to the season to
My heart was pounding like an elephant walking as I waited in line, although I wasn’t even really that nervous. In my head I knew it was going to be hard to make the team as a 6th grader I think that’s why I didn't get myself all worked up about it and nervous because there was a 50% chance of me making the team. In my head, I said to myself that I would love to make the team.
I glare at him "you dont fucking understand" I say, anger boiling inside me "You can go play in the NLL or you can go play in the NHL or in the NFL or in the NBA or any other professional sports. But the only options i have are play tennis, basketball, soccer, or golf. And i do know how to or have the disiere to play any of those sports. And even if i did i would still be drastically underpaid compared to you, so dont tell me to get a regular job."

I do not get surprised easily, but when I scored my first lacrosse goal, I was pretty shocked. I have considered myself as a decent lacrosse player; however, I did not score a single goal in my first season. Similar to my first season, my second season started out with me struggling get open and score goals. Fortunately, as the season progressed, I started to learn how to get open and get pass my defender. All of this came to fruition when I scored my first goal. It was the first quarter and our opponent had just turned the ball over. Our team was able to clear the ball past the midfield line, so I dropped into my designated position around ten feet away from the goal. Strikingly, the midfielder with the ball saw me open and passed it to me.
My first Opening season game was two years ago at the Blues Hockey stadium in ST. Louis Mo. It was a cold day, The sun was barely shining and I had just got to ST. Louis driving thru the city making our way to the hockey rink. The traffic was horrible and not safe there was tons of people walking on the streets trying to get to that game. When we finally got there we pulled into the parking garage and got out the car after we did that we put on our jerseys and went to the side of the garage and watched tons of people rolling in and not to mention the band that was there. After the band was done we went inside and found our seats when we got there we had an unlimited buffet of food to eat, I had chicken tenders, hot chocolate, soda, and hot
This article discussed how all people can play sled hockey. It also gives certain stories about people with disabilities, who were able to play with other people. For example, a boy named Liam Flanagan loves the battle of sled hockey. Liam has a non degenerative neuro tumor condition and he said, “It was the first team sport I played that my team played the same way I did.” This really inspired and helped to show me the benefits of non profit organizations like the NorthEast Sled Hockey League. I think it is really important we have these types of leagues so that everybody has the opportunity to participate in competitive
In my four years of playing hockey for Bishop Dwenger we had never lost as many games as last year. Being a junior came with responsibilities; I was an upperclassman and I had to prove that I could turn all of my hard work into a successful season for my team. After losing so many games, I began to feel like a failure to my team. Not only this, but I was also the captain. This meant that I had even more responsibilities.
The futures field hockey camp. The best from all over the state practice from January to April at the nearby college to then compete in one, possibly two, tournaments. Regionals and then, if you make it passed, nationals. A chance to practice with the US Olympic team.
Snow skiing. The first day learning to ski is rough for almost anyone you ask. The day before my first ski trip, I could not help but wonder. Was I going to fall on my butt? Would I fall flat on my face? Would I make a fool out of myself? These were all questions that I knew I would soon get answers to. I had built up such intense feelings of nervousness and excitement that I could hardly tell the difference. All I wanted was to make it out alive.
What is it that makes a person get out of bed everyday, and face the challenges in life that sometimes make you just wonder why you keep pressing on? Why do we push ourselves to the edge of utter destruction every time we get up in the morning? Well I believe these questions can be answered with one single word, but if you want to know that you will have to read the rest of this paper.
