Welding Both Jobs Together When I go to work, I punch a time clock at Maxwell Trailers and Pick-up Accessories, Inc. At the location in Mexico, Missouri, Maxwell’s employees manufacture trailers and truck beds, but I work in the shop at the Maxwell’s in Columbia. The one where I work has lots of customers in and out all day because it has a store that sells trailers, truck beds and accessories. The welding and mechanical shop where I, along with my fellow employees, install any of the items that Maxwell’s sell to customers is on the back of the building. I like the work I do at Maxwell’s, but my dream job is a self-employed cattle and crop farmer. In that dream job, I would often be doing that same type of work as I do now, but would …show more content…
The job I have now at Maxwell’s involves welding and wrench work to install truck accessories, such as special bumpers, running boards, and pick-up covers. A typical day at work in my present job would be to spend a lot of time welding to install a variety of products. My favorite welding project at Maxwell’s is putting on truck beds. I think the reason I like installing truck beds is because I get to use a lot of different welding materials and techniques, and it takes some experience and talent to get it just right. In my dream job, as a farmer, there will be much of the same type of welding and wrench work. Most of it will be for maintenance on machinery or when that machinery breaks down. Welding and wrench work are a big part of both …show more content…
In the job which I work now, the shop-boss makes a weekly schedule. He can schedule me to work anytime when the shop is open, and I am not in class. In my dream job, I will make my own schedule. In many ways, it will be more flexible than Maxwell’s schedules, but in farming schedules are dictated by many variables, such as weather, seasons, and calving. Just because I schedule myself to go to a ballgame, for example, if a cow is having trouble calving, I cannot just say, “Wait until tomorrow because I am scheduled off today.” That would be ridiculous. As a farmer, my personal schedule will have to be flexible depending on all those many variables. In my present job, I work part-time, usually less than twenty hours per week. In my dream job, I will often work more than forty hours per week, but there will be very few times of the year that I may work less than
This career choice interests me because I have being helping my grandfather on his farm since I was little, and I really enjoy working on tings, especially diesel equipment. This career choice also interests me because as long as there are farm there will be equipment that need kept in tip top working order. This career choice would be close to ideal for me because it is something that I enjoy doing and at the same time the job will always be around.
Clocking into work on my very first day, I went to my manager’s offices and saw the new schedule and it conflicted with different aspects of my life. It became difficult to balance school work, my job and my social life all in one day. Every Friday I was at work, and every Friday an assignment was due and every Friday my
Pipeline welding is a very hard and rough job. There is a lot of work and dedication needed to accomplish this job. My personal career plans are to go to a technical college to further my knowledge, ability to weld, and also obtain my osha10 card. I feel that this job suits me well due to the fact that I can weld and work hard. The
If the workplace of today could be characterized by a single theme, it would most likely focus on the continual presence of change. Dramatic changes in technology, the marketplace and the workforce have compelled organizations to re-evaluate not only the competitiveness of their products, but also the core ways in which work is performed. It is out of this pursuit for continued survival that organizations have been faced with the notion of varying work-schedules beyond the traditional hours of nine to five. This paper will explore the societal and business changes that have led to a proliferation in flexible work patterns. This paper will also address the benefits and disadvantages of flexible work patterns for
Welding is the process of joining pieces of metal or other parts by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blow torch, electric arc, or other means. This careers demand has skyrocketed in recent years. According to Tri-County Technical College, welding is ranked as one of the top ten fastest growing career fields in South Carolina by the US Department of Labor (“Welding Associate's Degree”). Welding is a very meticulous career, to be a welder you have to be focused, careful and you have to have an extensive knowledge of the field to be successful. Welding requires a variety of skill sets. If a person has a variety of skills and experience doors will open up for positions such as: shipbuilding, automotive repair, and construction.
“I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile” (Walter Chrysler). Deciding on what one wants to be in life can prove to be a demanding task. There are so many, yet limited, different opportunities in the world to have an excellent career and make a decent living while doing something one loves. It is limited because there are only a few specific career paths that someone could take to make good money. It is very difficult to make a fulfilling living being a garbage man. There are many different opportunities because, within these specific careers, there are usually various paths to take. Someone who has dreams to be a
When I got married, I was working as a federal contractor for a company that conducted background investigations. The days were very long, some at 10 hours, most at 12. My husband worked at the same company, so we were on the same schedule. This worked well for us, but as we started to discuss building our family, I began to wonder if this would be practical. I did not mind working so much, but knew having a baby would change a lot. Once I became pregnant, it slowly became evident I could not continue such crazy schedules. I moved to part-time status shortly after, and ultimately left my job just months before having our daughter.
59.8% of American citizens are employed as of last month if you plan to be successful. As a high school student I am getting prepared for what is coming after college or the work force. when I was little I wanted to be a professional football player as I got older I realized that it was a very slim chance of me getting into the NFL. So therefore I am preparing two other career choices just in case my dream doesn't work out. If the NFL didn’t work I would be either a welder or a Motor sports salesman. The most important points about my job is the pay, job outlook, and what I would do. The jobs are pretty similar they are both in the Automotive field. But they are both different because in welding a welder would be outside almost all the time because it is hot in a shop. If I was a salesman I could be outside or inside to sell the vehicles.
The thing that I like best about the job is that the pay seems to be good and welder get paid above minimum wages.
Isn't it everyone’s dream to have a job where we love it so much it’s our hobby and not really our job? Well, at least it has been for me, wanting to become a dental hygienist. I don't really want to do it for the money (although it is pretty decent pay), but the work environment and what you are providing for others. The satisfaction you get when you can make someone smile or make them feel confident about their smile. And “boy oh boy”, is there a story behind on how I found a hobby/part-time. I have. I'm pretty sure that we’ll have heard the saying "We are going to end up doing what we hate the most", and well this is what happen in my situation.
As I’ve said earlier, my most prolific dream has always been to one day work in the professional field of animation. To create living, breathing worlds with the tip of a pencil and the solid white plane of your average piece of printer paper. For years I’ve been practicing and honing my skills to reach this goal, but I knew that I would first need the proper connections, education, and mentorship of renown industry professionals to help me reach the bountiful zenith of my highest aspirations. And because of my employment, education, and extracurricular experiences, I believe that I’m adequately-equipped to see these dreams of mine become a reality. For instance, my work at the Madison Mallards baseball park during the summer of ‘17 has not only prepared me for the typical aspects of the workforce, but it has also helped me better interact with other people and build lasting connections. Almost everyday, I worked endlessly to garner profit for my employer and satisfy customers of all backgrounds. Almost everyday, I was tasked with working synergistically within a cast of colorful co-workers and managers. And finally, I was able to share with the management my unwavering sense of dedication to company policy and the
Welding is a very good trade to know and can be very helpful in a wide variety of jobs. Although it is not required in all workplaces or jobs, it could make one more of an asset to their employer. Many jobs have machines, tools, and other necessary pieces of equipment that may break or need something welded to them. Knowing to weld is a great tool and will put one far ahead of most people. Many people know how to weld, but very few are good enough to be considered professional. A person should always aspire to be the best in each field of work that they are involved in.
I plan to learn more about this topic and the other types of welding so I can be ready for my career as a welder. It is important to know about all the different types of welding but knowing about this Shielded Metal Arc Welding will help me in the future become better at my welds. Having this knowledge will make my skills more marketable so that I can go anywhere I want to with this highly valued skill.
One of the duties of a welder can be fabricating metal structures such as building a skyscraper or a school. Another job would be making equipment such as end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks and semis. Besides a job specialty is the need to be able to do math equations that are more sophisticated than what other try in
Using machines and being outside are the joys of being a carpenter. Carpentry has always been a job that I have wanted to pursue. A carpenter has many tasks to do, this job will have things that may or may not fit me, and I have to have a plan to accomplish all of my goals.
