"Riots break out in multiple cities," "NFL players sit and kneel during the National Anthem," "Racism is tearing our Country apart," and many other similar headlines surround everything from TV and Social Media to sports and the new nowadays. It seems as though the controversy will never be settled. I have never personally had to deal with major decisions or conversations involving racism, but I constantly watch the results of other people's dilemmas. There has definitely been the most tension in America revolving around the African-American community due to our Country's infamous, historic past. What we need to do, however, is to learn how to forgive each other and gain respect for everyone, no matter the color of their skin. Although that is easier said than done. The problem with this theory is that only the people who have been forgiven by Christ are able to show the same forgiveness to other people, and not everyone has accepted Christ. The only way to fight the racism problems going on right now is to forgive, listen, and most importantly, use Christ's love to fight.
First of all, to end racism of any kind both sides must forgive each other and move on. Move on, however, does not mean that we should act like things never happened, it just means that once an argument is resolved, we need to continue with our lives and try not to let it happen again. For example, the way how certain NFL teams and players have protested their beliefs by kneeling or sitting down for the
Racism is part of America’s history. Historical leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr. brought the Injustice problems to the light. King, Jr. “Letters from a Birmingham Jail confronts racism in the United States of America through his response letter to the clergymen criticism, while he is in jail due to holding a protest in Birmingham, Alabama. King, Jr. wrote “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” to defend the non-violent protest. He claims that the protest needed to happen because of the injustice that was going on. “In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether Injustice exist; negotiation; self-purification; and direct action. We have gone
Racism is contagious to this society. It has been a growing concern in the United States for many decades now, however, no major improvements are made by any political officials in reducing it. Many individuals of color are treated unfairly just because they are of pigment. Not too long ago, many individuals in the African American communities sparked out in outrage when individuals such as Michael Brown and much more were racially profiled by were brutally attacked by the law enforcers. Racism does not only limits individuals of color their freedom and rights but has further impacts on health. However, when one mentions inequalities and racism, people may look at it in terms of a justice problem, but not much attention is given how racism
Racism has not just gone away there are still people out there thinking there are only certain things white people can do and certain things only black people can do. Or some people that think the world is owed to them because of their skin color, or they are superior because of their skin color. It has never stopped because as a society we have done nothing about it and made it a common thing. A good example would be, in To Kill a Mockingbird when Calpurnia brought the children to church Lula got upset about it. “Lula stopped, but she said, “You ain’t got no business briging’ whit chillun her-they got their church, we got our’n. It is our church ain’t it, Miss Cal?”(Lee) Things like that still happen today just not as extreme people separate themselves in some cases due to race and that is one thing that needs to be worked on.
Every day an extensive amount of people have to face hatred and bullying. Huge conflicts occur and lives are lost. The issue that plays a significant part in all of this is racism. It affects individuals and communities in every corner of the world.
Racism these days is rarely spoken about, which leaves some people believing that we now live in a world full of peace. But that’s hardly the case, racism still, and I have no doubt that it always will be around, simply because there are people in this society who have adopted beliefs that black people will never be eligible to equal rights as what white people have.
To get rid of racism we should treat others how we want to be treated. Be kind to people is an example. Act blind when judging, so judge them by their personality not skin color. Galatians 3:26-28 “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Stand up for what you think is right. Step in and say something. Do a peaceful protest. Also you can thank nice people. Another way to stop racism is to make a change. You can teach others not to be racist, promote churches, and set an
Racism in modern America has yet to be cast out of existence because most people has turned a blind eye to it. Moving through time, from when Jim Crow laws were first introduced, until today. The nation has greatly moved forward but it has taken steps backwards at times. Overcoming racism is proving to be one of the most difficult tasks for this country. Although, some would say that
Racism is far from being resolved in our society, as well as other ones. People of color are treated with injustice as compared to whites, yet the issue is being
Racism has reared its ugly face for many decades, destroying families and interrupting lives. Most people do not consciously wake up and “do” race every day. In fact, many participants are unaware of the racial constraints and barriers that are placed on other groups based on the amount of melanin in the skin. Regarding racism in America, many are under the impression that racism is a thing of the past and that as a country, we have removed the element of racism from our culture. Many make statements like, “how can that be racist, if we have a black president”, or that person is just “pulling the race card, they aren’t a real victim” to combat accusations of racism. In events of apparent
The only way that racism will ever be stopped is if everyone realizes how cruel and mean it is, and can learn to accept anyone and everyone no matter their color, or what you might guess they are like just because of something that small. Also one of the best ways is to forgive each other for treating people so horribly, and making assumptions about their life and their person to forgive each other for past things that have happened
The question remains even though racism continue to a an impact on other people’s lives what, what can we do about it? Well, no one person can do it all or do it alone but we can all help and work collectively to end
Conflicts like this are not a one step process or don’t have a certain way to fix it. Minorities, especially blacks, have been discriminated against for decades now in the United States. It’s not an easy fix because everyone thinks differently. Everyone has different emotions, they were raised differently, and some just flat out believe that they are better than others. It is really nearly impossible to defeat racism and the true question is, where do you even begin? What steps do you take to do so?
Racism, will it ever end? The answer is probably not. The United States of America was set up on the basis of race. Even many years ago European settlers looked down upon the Native Americans as inferior. Years later in today’s modern society, racism still exists, although we may not fully realize it. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exists in our schools workforces, and anywhere else where social lives are occurring. Using our sociological imagination, we are capable of applying the role of race to any situation. However, in some situations, race does not play a covert role; it plays a crucial and obvious role. In “Film Shows Students Battle Racism for Mixed Prom”, Michelle Nichols stated, “As Barack Obama campaigned to
Despite the civil rights movement, racism is still very much alive and an issue in today's world. I believe that in order for America to end racism we need to stop being racist ourselves. There is no other possible solution to this issue then by just stoping the ideology of it all. Honestly, as long as we still have white supremacists groups out there like the KKK and the Council of Conservative Citizens then we will get nowhere with trying to end racism in America. That is exactly why I believe we need to try harder to get rid of groups and people with mentality's such as these. For gods sake, how do we really expect to end racism in America when Donald Trump a representative of the GOP one of the most oldest and prestigious political parties
Racism is not a new issue for the United States; it is an issue that has plagued our nation since its inception. Whether racism originates from family, community, religious beliefs or friends the tension it creates- destroys. As a nation we have worked to eliminate racism from everyday live. The civil rights movement of the 1960’s and the work of Dr. Martin Luther King brought about some much needed changes. We, as a nation have come a long way, since that time.
