People are coming into our country because they are in danger from war in there country, right away you would think that it is good to let them in because we are all safe, you would think were all safe at least, but i'm showing that refugees shouldn't be allowed in because they could be terrorist, they could and are bringing in illnesses, and camps are expensive and they cost you. This refugee crisis is so significant because it is happening right now and it is affecting people all around the world and it could so dangerous that if they came to our country and they were near you it could be very dangerous. What even is the refugee crisis? There has been a war going on in Syria that started on March 15, 2011 and it is a civil war and it is causing syrians to try to get over to America and some other countries are trying to come over too. So what our President did about this is he made the travel ban which banned Syria, North Korea, Iran, Chad, Libya, Yemen, and under certain conditions banned Solmania and Venezuela. Lots of these bans are because of refugees. More than 11 million refugees are on the run just in Syria trying to migrate to a place. The UN (United Nations) identified that 13.5 million Syrian refugees are requiring humanitarian assistance while 6 million are internally displayed in Syria while 5 million are outside of Syria. Lots of them fled to Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey while they hoping that the war would soon end in Syria. In 2015 around a million refugees
Mandatory detention is the practice of compulsorily detaining or imprisoning people seeking political asylum. Whilst Australia is not the only country to detain unauthorized arrivals in certain circumstances, it is the only country where there is mandatory immigration detention for all unlawful non-citizens. This imposition of mandatory detention for asylum seekers arriving in Australia without visas is a violation of basic human rights principles. As a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and countless treaties from the UN, our nation is in compliance with these principles, and whilst Australia continues to impose mandatory detention on Asylum Seekers we are violating the terms of these treaties.
The idea of Syrian refugees emerging over to the United States seems to have been the talk for the past few years here in the United States. Although, over the years the argument of whether Syrian refugees should be granted the opportunity to enter the United States or to not to be able to, has always been a tough compromise. For countless of years refugees have been fleeing their homeland to find a new place to call home just to get away from the war. In spite of refugees fleeing the countries, many of the families are having a hard time trying to find new homes. However, the United States has to protect its country from the possible terrorists that the Syrians could bring with them if we allowed them to enter the United States. The civil war over in Syria has Syrians continuing to fight for their lives every day. Syrian refugees should not be allowed to enter the United States for the substantial amounts of attacks that those Syrians could pose.
Can you imagine that your little town is being attacked or even a natural disaster may be occurring and you have nowhere to go? What would you do? How would you survive? You would have to flee your home away from the tragic disaster. You would have no place to call home and all you would have is the clothes on your back. Some in the process of leaving their town never get to see their family again and are lucky if they survive. This is why I believe that refugees should be allowed into the United States under certain conditions. These include having a positive background, being eligible for a job and respecting our nation as well as the people in it. As the US turns refugees away, thousands of lives are being taken away. We could easily help them by taking them into our country. Although some people that enter the country may commit crimes, that doesn’t mean we should turn all of them away. It would cause way more harm than good. Most crimes that happen in the United States are caused by the people that are US citizens rather than the refugees. All of these innocent lives are just being taken away and as many Americans sit back and do nothing about it. When we could be out there saving lives. Our country has to step in and do something about this serious situation. There are solutions we could use to solve these problems by making sure all people that enter this country are good at heart. Outside of very few exceptions our country is mainly made up of refugees and
Imagine that you are in an airport trying to flee your country because there is a war going on, all of a sudden you get stopped by a security officer saying that the country you are trying to go to does not allow refugees, What would you do? The debate about refugees has been around since World War Two when Hitler was trying to torture or kill all the jews and other people he did not like. Here in America we did not let refugees into the U.S. during the war and a bunch of them were killed, however some did survive. Some people think that we should let them into the United States of America well, others say they should not be allowed to enter the U.S. In the year of 2016 there was around thirty-eight thousand refugees that were allowed into the United States. There were a bunch of other refugees that applied to come to the united states but got denied, because the U.S. did not choose them or they did not pass the test to become a refugee. The idea that refugees should not be allowed into the united states because they could bring disease, they could be a criminal or a terrorist, and they use up our land and resources deserves some merit. However These arguments do not realise that if we bring them into the United States we could save their lives, or give them better living conditions. In this article I will argue that we should allow refugees into the United States, but only under certain circumstances. Those circumstances are they should be allowed into the united
During 2012-13 Australia’s Refugee and Humanitarian program increased from 13,750 to 20,000 places divided between offshore resettlement and onshore protection. It resulted in 87% rise in the number of offshore resettlement visas granted. The alternatives include indefinite mandatory detention and mandatory detention. Asylum seekers who arrive without prior valid visas usually have to go through mandatory detention. They usually stay in detention for an average of 450 days. Community placement are another alternative. Many asylum seekers from immigration detentions centers are released are placed on bridging visas so they can live in community. Although
As our knowledge of Sierra Leone is very limited. The information which we can obtain in Australia from the newspapers, internet and government can be biased. The fact remains that these refugees arrived lawfully to compete in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. A fair go for refugees is a fair go for all Australians, most of the current arrivals have fled from conflict zones. Very few passed "safe countries" on their way to Australia, as most countries in our region, are not signatory to the Refugee Convention and are well-known for maltreatment of asylum seekers The law at the time was changed by the government to prevent asylum seekers that arrived by boat.
Asylum seekers have been escaping their hostile countries for decades now, but where are they fleeing to? Not to Australia. With the Australian government forcing asylum seekers to Thailand and other foreign countries, it is lessening the number we, as Australians, have to "deal with", at least that is the government’s plan. Many Australians believe that asylum seekers and refugees don't deserve to come here to Australia, however if those Australians were to be forced to flee Australia due to war, they would support them coming. The point being made is that asylum seekers deserve as much as any Australian. Australia is a free country, and we want the entire world to believe that, so why are we trying to relieve asylum seekers of the joy of
Imagine being a parent at an airport waiting to go see your kids but then all of the sudden you can't pass through the gates, why? Well, because the current president Donald Trump banned 7 nations from entering the United States. What do you do now? That's how frustrated and disappointed people were at the airports when the ban took action on Friday, January 27th. It was unaccounted so people were not aware of it although, it was expected to occur anytime soon. He believes the United States would be a better place without those nations so, therefore, he felt the need to ban refugees from entering the United States. It all might sound scary but as he was running for candidacy many people were aware of how everything could be changed
According to UNHCR, a refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so. War and ethnic, tribal and religious violence are leading causes of refugees fleeing their countries. When people flee their own country, and seek sanctuary in another country, they apply for asylum – the right to be recognized as a refugee and receive legal protection and material assistance. An asylum seeker must demonstrate that his or her fear of persecution in his or her home country is
A refugee by definition is a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Currently, in our world, there is a war in Syria. The people in this country are having their homes destroyed and watching their family and friends die. There is a crisis going on because they're attempting to leave their country and find a safe place to live. The problem is that other countries aren't allowing them to enter. The same thing happened to the jews during WWII. Many countries didn't accept the Jews integrating into their society. Many Jews died from the Jewish refugee crisis. Should we let the same thing happen today with the Syrian refugee crisis? The US needs to open the borders to the Syrian
Although many believe and understand the immense benefits we would gain by resettling refugees in the United States, many still would not let them in. Why? Well it’s all about fear. Most liberals, progressives, libertarians and most non-conservative democrats would allow refugees in. Well, surprisingly enough, Republican rhetoric has been quite different, emphasizing a potential national security risk from refugees. President and businessman Donald Trump said Syrian refugees could be “the greatest Trojan horse of all time,” and he urges banning them all. Jeb Bush, former Florida governor being a bit less obnoxious says, “We all have sympathies for people who have been uprooted. But we have a duty to protect our country as well.” Many people including Republican Ethan Newlin say things like “We can not bring in refugees to America. They will only steal jobs that Americans should have the first priority to.” Sure in their eyes they are raising great points that to them completely outweigh all of the benefits that refugees will bring, but does that make them correct?
These measures would go a long way in providing orderly and safer alternatives to risky irregular crossings. In doing so, it prevents refugees from criminal networks who capitalize on desperation and use that opportunity to violate human rights, exploitation of women and children, torture, automatic detention, torture, rape, and beating. It is only when these actions are formulated and implemented that tragic loss of lives at the sea will be eliminated and the rights of vulnerable refugees will be sincerely protected (Spilimbergo, 2016).
Today, the EU and the US face a migration crisis from the Middle East and Africa. The problem is that so many people try to claim asylum in the EU that some nations are refusing to take them in. Some nations like Poland have had huge arguments in the EU, and President Trump has decreased the amount of refugees the US will take in this year. The refugee crisis has caused a lot of problems. For this reason, the US and EU nations should not take in these refugees.
In today’s world, and the past few years, there has been a high concern for immigration and the influx of refugees around the world and I would just like to ask how many of you like myself are fed up with the constant headlines of so called illegal immigrants and refugees that are supposedly rushing to enter our borders in the hope of a better life for their families? Meanwhile, we as people sit in front of our 20-inch TV screens with food on our tables laughing and complaining in our roofed houses about humans who are in search of a better life while fleeing war, poverty and potentially death with the aid of those deceptive criminals, the people smugglers, to make their way through continents on unseaworthy boats risking the horrid fate of drowning at sea.
The Syrian Civil War began in March of 2011 and continues today. Throughout the past seven years, “over 13.5 million people have fled their homes with 6.3 million displaced in Syria and 4.9 million living as refugees scattered throughout the region” (Spiegel); therefore, 13.5 million people truly believed their quality of life would be improved if they packed up their family and belongings and left their homes. These 13.5 million people need a safe place to go, yet the United States closed the doors in their face at their greatest time of need. President Trump’s travel ban, implemented in 2017, bans
