Refugees are people who are forced to flee a country because of persecution or because of serious human rights abuses. Refugees can help with things like the economy and by letting in refugees we can prove to Isis that we are not scared of them. Although it can be unsafe trusting machines to detect anything wrong, we are letting in families that need help, not singular people that are just looking for a place to live. Should refugees be allowed to come into a country that is peaceful and safe?
In the late 19 century, early 20th century Refugees from Russia, especially Jews, Mennonites and Doukhobors, settled in Canada. The world had different opinions on this matter, but most of the world took it as an advantage. The world took it as an advantage because the refugees can help and boost the economy for the better. (Tess Fuller 1) The refugees come from different places all around the world meaning that they come from different work environments. People from different countries know different jobs better so that would help our economy because instead of having people working in one type of job we would have different people from different countries be able to come and help us with the jobs that we are not so strong at doing. Refugees can help with jobs like plumbers, construction workers, and accountants, while we are good at jobs like doctors, social workers, and teachers. By letting the refugees come into our country it would give more of a diversity to the jobs we are working in right now. It would help benefit the world because there are a lot of jobs on high demand and by letting them come into our country they can help us fill those jobs up.
One problem with letting in refugees is the security risk. Refugees are coming in from dangerous countries like Syria, Iraq, and countries in the middle east. The reason they are leaving is because of safety reasons, but how do we know that they are not going to create a safety risk in our country. Refugees have to go through a lot of tests and they get searched before they enter the country, but can we trust the machines to detect anything that create a security risk?(Huffington Post 2) . Letting in the refugees can create terror acts just like what is happening in
Can you imagine that your little town is being attacked or even a natural disaster may be occurring and you have nowhere to go? What would you do? How would you survive? You would have to flee your home away from the tragic disaster. You would have no place to call home and all you would have is the clothes on your back. Some in the process of leaving their town never get to see their family again and are lucky if they survive. This is why I believe that refugees should be allowed into the United States under certain conditions. These include having a positive background, being eligible for a job and respecting our nation as well as the people in it. As the US turns refugees away, thousands of lives are being taken away. We could easily help them by taking them into our country. Although some people that enter the country may commit crimes, that doesn’t mean we should turn all of them away. It would cause way more harm than good. Most crimes that happen in the United States are caused by the people that are US citizens rather than the refugees. All of these innocent lives are just being taken away and as many Americans sit back and do nothing about it. When we could be out there saving lives. Our country has to step in and do something about this serious situation. There are solutions we could use to solve these problems by making sure all people that enter this country are good at heart. Outside of very few exceptions our country is mainly made up of refugees and
Refugees need to flee from their home country because it is no longer safe and is filled with war. The refugees need help because they aren’t able to have or get some of essential living needs as a matter of fact let's take water for instance. They might not live by a clean water source. They might have lived by a water source, but it was damaged by drought or because of the war. We need clean water to live and not become sick. I get that we want to protect our country from attacks, but not all refugees want to commit a terrorist attack on our country. As a matter of fact a coffee shop is opened and all the workers are refugees. This gives refugees an opportunity to work and make a living. This allows refugees to come to the U.S. because they needed our help and once they come into the U.S. they are able to make a living and so there are able to afford a lifestyle.
These people cannot go back home because they fear something bad is going to happen again, their only choice is to flee to another country and start a new life, but not many countries let most refugees in due to their religion or race, and the United States is one of them. For example, in the many articles that I have read in my English Humanity class, there's an article from Donald Trump, where he says: “We cannot let them into this country, period. Our country has tremendous problems. We can’t have another problem.” And this is one of our candidates running for president talking about the refugees in this type of way, saying that they will cause more problems, due to the fact that they are dangerous. But not every refugee is dangerous, especially the ones that come from Syria at this time due to the Syrian war. Some just tend to be traumatized and exposed to violence and war, and all they learn is to fight back and take care of themselves, and in a document I read coming from the book Outcasts United by Warren St. John, it says that a mentally disturbed Sudanese man, beheaded his five year old nephew with a butcher knife, and family members say that this act was due to the fact that he had
According to UNHCR, a refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so. War and ethnic, tribal and religious violence are leading causes of refugees fleeing their countries. When people flee their own country, and seek sanctuary in another country, they apply for asylum – the right to be recognized as a refugee and receive legal protection and material assistance. An asylum seeker must demonstrate that his or her fear of persecution in his or her home country is
Fear is taking over. All around you is fear, surrounding you, taking control. We let the fear sway our emotions, our perceptions, our ideology. Everything is constantly changing because of what we fear. Our morals are being betrayed because of fear; our instincts are being denied because we give into fear. That is why so many people are afraid to let innocent, terrified people into our country. Although, many see the Syrian refugees fleeing from the crisis into their country as a threat, there is no reason to be afraid. The refugees should be allowed into the United States.
Since 2011, more than 250,000 people have been killed in the Syrian civil war. Millions of other Syrians are searching for a secure home. America could provide a home to these Syrians if they were well prepared and funded. Taking in Syrian refugees would have no help to Syria, be dangerous for American citizens and be an extremely ignorant move, considering we are not prepared for almost 50,000 refugees. Syrian refugees should not be allowed into America.
Syrian refugees crossing the border is currently the headline of every news station. If allowed into America, every human life could be affected. Syrian refugees should not be allowed to enter into the United States because the threat they pose is greater than the advantage America could give them. America has a high homeless rate which will never be resolved if the refugees are welcomed in. Allowing refugees across the border could result in an outbreak of war.
Also many of those refugees may have skills that workers in America don’t have and can possibly even start their own business which would make more jobs. This is why more refugees should be allowed to enter the United states because they can help out the economy and the debt problem for the United states.
Terrorists Terrorism/Crime are a big reason that refugees should not be let into the united states. One of the big reasons is that there are a lot of people trying to either get a visa or sneak into our country. “There have been over 400 cases of people sneaking across the border from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, and Syria”. Associated Press 2015)This shows that people who shouldn't be crossing the border are sneaking in with the refugees to cause terrorism to our country. There are very few reasons that people from those countries should ever be entering our country, and them trying to sneak in and illegally come into our country tells us they are probably planning
Since 2011, the civil war in Syria has been ravaging the entire country, resulting in many of its citizens to flee their country and find a safe place to resettle. These people are known as refugees since they are forced to leave their homes due to economic instability or in this case, war. Many refugees originally come from terrorist countries that make this issue more complicated in allowing refugees to resettle in other countries. There are many individuals that desire to harm those who live in the United States. As an act of fear, the United States is not welcoming many refugees for the reason that they consider refugees as terrorists. Among all of the other countries that have accepted refugees, the United States is the last option refugees consider to resettle, this country has only accepted a small portion of all refugees compared to other countries. Refugees that seek for safety and are eligible to resettle have to be accepted through the U.S Refugee Admission Program, this program determines if a refugee is allowed to resettle in the United States or not. As the world suffered a big torment of terrorist attacks and other such incidents, illegal entry into the United States has become more difficult with increasing laws for unlawful refugees who seek asylum, more refugees should be given the opportunity to resettle in the United States, they only attempt to find a place where they are not forced to leave due to political and persecution complications.
If these refugees are let into the country, they will take American jobs. This is not good for the country especially when so many people are looking for jobs. In fact, “the official number of unemployed Americans
Due to the influence of the picture of Alan Kurdi and increased publicity about this issue, the refugee crisis has become much more well known among the entire world. Many people have positive responses, especially those in Europe. These groups of people are supportive of their governments to let refugees in. The biggest reason for this encouragement is the humanitarian side of the issue. Refugees are human beings that deserve to be treated just as well as the richest, most credible man in the world. These protestors against anti refugee projects believe that the governments should help those in need. They believe that the world cannot just stand by while these people suffer. Doing so would be considered a tragedy. These supporters have started many protests to help gain support for this issue.
Whether you say we should welcome the refugee with an open arm or deny them, we still need an ability to understand all perspectives. We need to understand this problem and make decisions based on thorough understanding. The refugee propaganda should be stopped and we need to start viewing them as people instead of terrorists. Let us not forget that “50% of them are children” and they can easily become ill and are forced to quit school. And maybe we should think about what we would have done if religious or terrorist was not associated with them. Let us not forget; we are writing history right now. Is this how we want the future to remember America?
The strongest argument on why America should let refugees into the country is because it boosts the economy. One reason why it boosts the economy is because, in Stuart Anderson’s article about immigration, it states The National Academy of Sciences concluded, “Immigration supplies workers, which increases GDP [gross domestic product] and has helped the United States avoid the fate of stagnant economies created by purely demographic forces.” This is saying that when refugees immigrate to the
