Caution and Consideration
Over the past decade or so, the technology of cloning has taken off in leaps and bounds.
Scientists are now able to clone an entire organism. As with most scientific discoveries, there is great debate concerning the legal and moral implications of such ability. What makes a human, human? What determines a person’s individuality? What are the possible consequences physically and psychologically of the clone? If there are benefits, do they outweigh the possible harms? In general, there are two sides to this debate, those in favor of and those against human cloning. Those who advocate for human cloning take up the cause for research and gene therapy.
They also draw attention to various medical benefits such as the overcoming infertility and treating inherited diseases better. They would say there are no moral issues regarding individuality because identical genes do not equate identical personalities or experiences. In contrast, those who oppose this technology cling to the moral reality of human nature and individuality. According to the Islamic view, such a thing is a threat to human dignity and honor.
Humans become as objects manufactured in a lab. They bring up the possible psychological harm that the expectations of the parents could cause. At the end of the day, the situation is rather convoluted and involves purposeful thought and cautious steps moving forward.
Based on the common benefit, the arguments of those in favor of human cloning revolve
Now that we are advancing in technology very rapidly, people are starting to wonder if it would be beneficial to clone humans. Some people say that you can literally save a person's life and create an exact replica of person by cloning. But some people say it’s not humane and it would be weird if there is 2 of the exact same person in the world. People are also concerned because nobody knows how these clones will act. We don’t know if the host will be harmed and we also don’t know if the clones will become evil and destroy the world. I believe that we shouldn’t clone humans simply because we don’t have enough information on cloning.
I am writing to address the problem I have with cloning. Therapeutic and Reproductive cloning is a waste of money and time. Why would you pay fifty thousand american dollars to clone something or someone that won’t be an exact copy? Every person or animal in the world is made for a reason, so why make a clone if you’re one of a kind.
