Parents are usually excited when they finally agree to send their child to day care. The first year of child care is supposed to be joyful, eventful, and full of new experiences for both you and your child. The problem that usually occur during the first year of child care is that your child seems to be sick way too often. Parents spend most of their time calling out of work or trying to figure out who will be taking care of their child at home. It might seem that your child has been sick for the entire school year. The University of Montreal conducted a long-term study from 1998 to 2006 and found that children in day care have a higher chance of getting respiratory tract infection and the infection decrease during elementary school year. …show more content…
10. Have proper ventilation in the classroom. During the beginning of the school year, teachers should also create a lesson on germs. Students can have a glitter experiment to see how germs are easily spread. Students can learn how to properly wash their hands. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states to wet your hands, lather your hands with soap, scrub for at least 20 seconds, rinse your hands, and then dry your hands with a paper towel. There are also recommended books for children, such as, Germs Are Not for Sharing by Elizabeth Verdick, Those Mean Nasty Dirty Downright Disgusting but… Invisible Germs by Judith Anne Rice and Germs Make Me Sick! by Melvin Berger. Students can also learn a song for hand washing. Students can also do science experiments about germs. The experiment demonstrate how quickly germs can be passed from one person to another. The apple experiment starts with two apple slices. One slice of apple would be place in a jar while the other apple will be pass around the classroom to make sure the slice is completely covered with germs. Students will monitor the two slices and see that the “germ” slice changes quickly. Students can also observe germs through a microscope. Parents also play a big role in preventing the spread of germs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend parents to get their child vaccinated and recommends use of the flu shot. They also encourage parents to keep your child home when
When people hear the words “child poverty” some assume that this term may refer to homeless children who are living on the streets. This isn’t necessarily true, in fact some children who go to bed every night with a roof above their head still suffer from some form poverty. According to National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP), 21% of children throughout the United States live in families who are considered poor. It is crucial for society to be more aware of this issue and to take part in contributing to help reduce child poverty within our country.
Working with kids is always a messy experience. These curious little balls of energy love to experiment with paint, spill their meals all over the floor, and bring in mud after playing outside. Of course, at the end of the day, it is your job to clean up after their mess. However, no matter how much scrubbing, sweeping, or mopping you do, bacteria still lurk around the corners.
Creating an action plan to help Canadian families affected by the particular issue of the foster care system and how to improve it. When beginning to set this policy it is important to look at the facts to be able to assess the issues that need to be changed.
Since the 1970’s, many debates and arguments have formed over the problems in the Florida foster care system. Some of the arguments were made as to whether different races should become foster families or whether or not is was suitable for gay couples to foster children. Another issue that arose was the children with special needs or older children that people didn’t want. As the foster system grew, it began to experience setbacks. There were now more children needing homes than available homes. The foster care system became full of problems. Foster parents started to complain about not having an adequate support system. The children were not receiving the medical treatments they needed. And foster children were staying in the system so long that some were aging out. Those that age out a were not receiving any support or training to cope with adult life. There was also a shortage in funding. In addition, there had become an alarming number of child abuse and neglect cases within the foster families. Although some aspects of foster care have improved, some changes still need to be made.
Children suffer significantly until someone decides to protect them. The government allocates funds to establish the foster care system and that system advances to enforce rights for children. When the right to remove children from an abusive situation first originated, the foster care system established a separation procedure for children from their abusive homes. This act of removing children from their families brought about psychological issues and trauma. Throughout earlier years, the foster care system adjusted their program according to the rules and regulations established to provide for the needs of children. However, problems keep appearing elsewhere. These children endure the brunt of every new philosophy in behavioral health management. Often, the biological parents will be left out of the solution. The foster care system develops services to train foster families in caring for foster children and behavioral issues. For some reason, the foster care system believes improvement simpler to reform the children and makes a trivial attempt of the reformation with family. The foster care system needs to try to achieve bonds within the biological family instead of the sole reliability on removal of children to be an adequate answer. The foster care system’s obligation should be to develop a training system for the rehabilitation of families and offer support to achieve the greatest outcome in child rearing. Foster care needs to adapt to supporting families emotionally,
In the United States 21% of all children are living below the federal poverty line. 2.9 million cases of child abuse and neglect are reported every year in the United States. 428,000 children are in the foster care system, and 107,918 foster children are waiting to be adopted. The foster care system is temporary out of home care for neglected, abused and impoverish children under 18. While the foster care system has all positive ideas, they fall short in providing certain needs for these children. Kids not only in America but all over the world that are living in poverty, are abused, neglected, and have an unstable home life. Nobody wants to live a life like that, especially not a child. They don’t know how to support themselves on their own, they need a family and a guardian that will take care of them, support, and love them.
60 percent of kids who age out of foster care are dead, homeless, or in jail within a year. There needs to be more focus on the foster care system and child homelessness. Children should not be living on the streets, they need a home and a loving family so that they can grow up and live a stable, independent life.
I do not generally do a lot of arguing or debating unless it is with my brother, which in that case, I argue a lot. Even then, I do not argue unless I know that I am correct or that it is something that I am really passionate about. One thing that I am passionate about though is the foster care system and what happens to it. The foster care system has been going through a big debate on whether or not it should be completely eliminated and replaced or if it needs a strong reform. The side of the argument that I would like to be on is the side where people are fighting for reform in the system. Foster care is one of the many things that is broken in this world, but that does not mean that it cannot be fixed.
More than two-hundred and fifty thousand children enter the foster care system each year, making it extremely difficult to find the right caregiver for each child. There are so may effects on the child that last their entire lifetime, making it difficult for them to trust others. Not being able to trust their peers, they often find it hard to make friends and long-term relationships last. Fortunately, there are many results that can improve everyone’s position in placing the child. Foster care agencies repeatedly create destructive situations due to the selected caregiver, as well as the plethora of glitches that are created. Due to the unacceptable and inappropriate selection of foster parents, the child frequently experiences difficulties and disadvantages later on. Most children are placed into foster care because of mistreatment and experience the same treatment in their foster homes. Unfortunately, a lot of times the foster parent will take their anger out on their foster child, making a wide array of short-term and long-term complications for the child.
Parents across the country are patiently awaiting the first year of freedom, also known as, Kindergarten. In the years leading up to a child’s elementary debut, parents often find themselves paying half their annual salary just so they can get back into the workforce. Why is it that the cost of childcare is so expensive? Most facilities only provide a child with enough shelter to be safe and enough food to curb a growing appetite yet daycare costs can match if not, exceed the monthly costs of living. American adults, who choose to raise families, make the ultimate sacrifice in leaving their small children with strangers just to earn a living so why can’t their employers cover the added expense?
“In the U.S. today, approximately 400,000 children and youth are in foster care at any given time and each year about 20,000 of these students emancipate (i.e., age out) of foster care” (“Students in Foster Care”). There are many children in this world who are separated from their parents. Placed somewhere by the government. They are being placed somewhere not familiar to them or somewhere far from where they lived before. Many people are not aware that foster children need help in their education and one of the reasons would be that they do not even know or are not aware of what defines a foster child. Therefore, what is a foster child? Well, this definition describes it accurately, “... Webster 's II New Riverside Dictionary defines
Beggining ones education young, prepares one for the future. Early education has been proven to be beneficial in many aspects throughout life. Children may dread the idea of starting early but in the long run starting early can make a significant difference. Also some may even be ahead of his/her peers in the following years. Early childhood education should be a requirement due to the ability it has to help gain early skills, necessary positive behaviors, and increased brain development.
Childcare is the starting point in your children 's lives. The choices you make on childcare can affect them greatly. It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home, to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding. There are so many different options for childcare now a days, it is extremely hard to say which is the most beneficial for children. In this paper I will discuss the childcare decisions that my mother made for me, what to consider when evaluating childcare, and compare them to some of my references and see how they are similar and also how they differ.
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child’s life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in afterschool programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future.
Babysitting is a temporary job for certain amount of hours where you watch over children while the parents are gone. Since my parents are divorced, my family is very big, I have double parents, grandparents, and siblings. So I am the middle child because I have a two older step-sisters and I have a little sister and little brother. Growing up, I had the opportunity to do both I was babysat by my older step-sisters when I was younger and I a babysat my little sister and little brother. Since I was family, I was expected to babysit without getting paid but for doing it I would get other privileges. So for my family they were very fortunate to have me and take care of the little ones but for some families they have no choice but to hire a babysitter.
