More than 99% of farm animals nationwide are raised in factory farms. Factory farms are large, industrial operations that raise large numbers of animals for food. These farms focus on profit and efficiency, rather than animal welfare (ASPCA). Factory farming has led to a complete disregard for animal health and rights and it needs to be controlled and better monitored. For years, capitalized agriculture has replaced our small, family owned farms with intentions to develop a way to produce cheap, fast meat. This newly efficient way of farming has caused an increase in consumption and a decrease in regards for the health of the animals they are raising. Sadly, billions of farm animals lack even the most basic protections under the law. While we fight for stronger laws, we can make a difference today through more humane farming, welfare-conscious shopping and reduced consumption of animal products” (ASPCA). Thousands of animals are forbidden to see the light of day, killed for being the wrong breed, and left to stand in their waste for weeks on end. The females spend almost their lives pregnant and both male and female spend their whole lives in cages. They face challenges such as starvation for breeding animals, and for their offspring: force feeding, cramped, unsanitary cages, and even death due to the cruel living conditions. Don't allow these animals to be mistreated because you want more breast meat in your KFC. Instead, be the voice for these animals. They can't ask for help but you can. I myself am not against the use of animals for food, but I am against torturing them before they die. No animal deserves to be treated this way. We all need to get involved in the fight for decent living conditions for these animals. Eat food grown only on local farms or get involved with the ASPCA or the HSUS. If we all speak up and demand better living conditions for these poor creatures, maybe then we can put a stop to this
