When the electoral college was first made, it was partly made to give smaller states an extra power. The electoral college was also made to protect the citizens from tyrannical government and majority. However, I believe that today the electoral college is "outlived" and undemocratic. Today, smaller states with little people have more power. While bigger states with the majority of the population have a smaller voice in the presidential election. I truly believe that the electoral college should be eliminated.
In a democracy, everyone should vote and everyone's vote should be counted equally. Everyone's vote should count as one vote. No matter who they are. Although, in America, peoples vote does not count as equally as they should. Partially because of the electoral college. According to CGP Gray on YouTube, the electoral college violates the principle of equal votes by making others votes "more equal than others"(CPG). The electoral college also gives votes to the states, not to the people. CGP Gray also says that Ohio with a population of about eleven point five million people should have twenty electoral college votes to fairly be represented. However, Ohio only gets eighteen electoral college votes. Ohio's other two votes go to small states like Rhoad Island who should only have about two electoral college votes but instead get four. The electoral college gives every state three electoral college votes before distributing the rest based on population. I don’t think
