Persuasive Essay On Water Pollution

Decent Essays

We, humans, live on this planet that has given us food, water, land, and even oxygen to survive with the only condition to protect and take care of what was here before us and also to protect everything it has given us since everything has a limited time. Well we humans didn’t know how to protect and take care of what we have, many animals have extinct, our oxygen is being polluted and now our water is to a point of disappearing I guess we can say it that way. Many humans used to and still waste a lot of water without caring well it wasn’t until a very severe drought hit them and made them realize how much water they were wasting and still even then it got to a point to where laws had to be made to the owner the rate of water wasting. On January 14, 2014, Governor Jerry Brown declared California on a state drought emergency. With this noticed, citizens were worried because it meant many changes were about to happen. Many cared and others didn’t. The drought has occurred since late 2011, but it wasn’t as severe as it began to get in 2014, as time went by the drought effects were more obvious. Of course, like many suggested digging up water instead of using water treatments since it would mean chemicals and it would take up more time, my argument is to store the water we received this year. And why? You may ask well I am about to tell you why.
As mentioned before, in late 2011 the drought began, it wasn’t till 2013 that statistics showed that "total rainfall was less than 34% by this time many species and crops were already being threatened" (2012-13North America # 7). As mentioned by Stafford Lehr, Chief of Fisheries within the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said: "95% of winter run salmon didn’t survive in 2013" (2011-2017 Cali Drought # 3) "When a salmon spawns, it lays its eggs in shallow gravelly areas called reds. Typically, the riffling water flowing through the shallows supplies oxygen to the developing fish, but with such low water levels many of the reds are either receiving low oxygen flow or are completely dewatered, killing the eggs" (The Cal drought #9). This began to show that the drought wasn't only going to affect us humans, but it was also going to affect our wildlife. Many
