The Petitcodiac Mennonite Church was found in the late ’70 by two members of the Nairn Mennonite Church in Ontario. The congregation was then known as the Mennonite Fellowship-Sussex. In May 1985 the congregation changed its name to Petitcodiac Mennonite Church to better reflect its community involvement. Since 1995, church membership remains relatively stable and in 2015, the Petitcodiac Mennonite Church reported having 38 members. In 2005 the church purchased a Ten Thousand Villages store to sale handcrafted products in the Maritimes. Ten Thousand Villages is a program sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) and designed to provide employment for people in developing countries by marketing internationally handicraft items.
The St. John Valley Mennonite Church was established in proximity of Centreville, NB in the early ’90. The location was selected because of his agricultural suitability. The Church I selected to evaluate is called Parkview Christian Church. Furthermore, both Churches before their inception the founder's sort guidance from God above to reach people for Christ. The concept of the Tinley Park Church of Christ (currently name Parkview Christian Church) originated in 1948 with two women on a train headed to Chicago. These two women discussed and prayed about how they could be a part of God’s plan to implement the lords work in their community. Later, after they arrive at their destination started a prayer assembly that kept expanding. Consequently, due to their increase in membership on “April 15, 1951” they formed a storefront church called Tinley Park Church of Christ (currently Parkview Christian Church). Moreover,
Bishop Seawright’s prophetic vision and outstanding leadership kept Union Bethel, founded in 1887, as a solid anchor in our community, now serving over 1,700 faithful congregants. This transformation included growing from five to acquiring over 55 acres of land, from two to over 75 employees, from a little chapel to a sanctuary that seats over 500 and to property that includes three houses, two apartments, a greenhouse and a pond. In 2014, Bishop Seawright and the Union Bethel AME Church Family paid off the mortgage of the $1.6 million sanctuary and 38 acres of land. To God be the
The Bridgetown church service gathers in a historical Portland church that has beautiful architecture, called the First Baptist Church. Located on SW 11th and Taylor Street almost in the heart of downtown Portland. I went to the very last service of three, given every Sunday, held at 7pm, known for young adults because of its close location to Portland State University. The fact that there are three services given in one day was very shocking to me, that a community of people would devote to doing the same exact thing three times once a week seems very time consuming and loyal to me.
In the Introduction section of the book, The Hidden Lives of Congregations, Israel Galindo states that a congregation is a “corporate relationship organization” (3) and is not an organization. He points out that the hidden life of a congregation would depict the “nature” of a congregation. This further identifies the relationships and faith of the congregation. According to him, the universal principles are followed by the congregations so that “systemic relationships” can work. The leaders learn the roles that they have within the people who are the congregation. The journal will focus on Dr. Fowler’s question “what is the purpose of this gathering we call the church?”
As the size of the service grew and grew each week, more services were added which presented more opportunities for leaders and volunteers to serve and be a part in the growth that the church had been experiencing. RRC’s story on their website stated, “…we found ourselves continually breaking fire codes because of too many bodies in the building at the same time. A move to a larger location was inevitable.” Because of this need of a move they were forced to say goodbye to Heritage Square and move to an auditorium in which they had to pay to rent week in and week out. Pushing 2000 congregants per week the church continued to grow despite the area shift. Through a series of events, church leaders found themselves without a meeting place in the very near future and had little to no options. But as God intended it, an opportunity arose in a bigger and more compatible building in the creepy and seemingly abandoned theme park that they started out
Similarly, the city is framed by its strong spiritual commitment, with Bethlehem AME Church, the oldest African descendant church in the city, founded in 1836. Along with Tabernacle Baptist Church, Christ Baptist Church and many others define a community filled with uplift. This uplifting nature is also exemplified by Sisterhood Inc., which has been recognized for its outstanding contributions to the social wellness of women and children of the
Growing up in the Mennonite faith, community has alway been a big aspect of my life. Whether it be in church, with my friends, in school, or in sports, I was constantly trying to make connections with people, and to be part of a group that was bigger than just me. Being a piece in a community was, and still is, a way for me to find myself. Never have I felt more like a belong to a community than at Camp Mennoscah, a local church camp I’ve been going to since third grade. Camp Mennoscah is the place that has most defined who I am, and the people there have created their own little community, apart from the rest of the world. We only spend one week a year as a camper out there, but I have so many close relationships with other campers and counselors. Campfire is one of my favorite parts of camp, and the feeling of a trusting community is felt very strongly here. Every evening, two or three people speak at campfire, telling stories about what has brought them to where they’re at in life now. I’ve always loved listening to their stories, because I get to see such a different side of people than usual. These are people I’ve known for a lot of years, some of whom I’ve gone to school with or spent many hours in practice with. However, during campfire I get to see them separate from the context that I’ve known them for before; they’re telling stories you don’t hear in the casual conversations of high school, sometimes stories they’ve never even told before. People talk about
Every week, approximately sixty to seventy devoted followers of Jesus gather in a traditional, white church building nestled by the woods, across from a horse pasture on the edge of the small, mostly blue-collar town of Sparta, Michigan. As they take their seats, those with gray to white hair fill the pews to the left of the aisle, while those whose in their middle age fill the pews to the right, along with a dozen middle and high school students in the back. Baptist Bible Church (BBC) was founded in 2008 and led by a part-time interim pastor until a full-time pastor could be found. However, since their founding as well as their leader's passing in 2010, BBC has been unsuccessful in finding the right pastor for the job and has continued
On March 5, 1922, with 24 members in attendance at a meeting held in the train depot on Hutchins Boulevard in the Village of San José, Texas, which was a suburb of San Antonio, Texas, San José Baptist Church began. The Church then rented a building for several months on Commercial Avenue across the street from the Terrell Wells Post Office. Later in 1923, the Church rented a two-room house from the Harlandale School District.
Victory Baptist Church in Walker, Louisiana is a young church that had become complacent. They experienced a lot of success in a short amount of time. They went from meeting on Fred’s back porch to renting a bigger space at a local school. Then they acquired the land on which they built their building in just four months. Over the course of four years they have paid of the land and are well ahead of their note for the building.

The church, which was established in 1980 and built in the spring of 1891, was founded by Dr. James L. Gibson. Gibson, a native of Ireland but of Scottish descent, was the church's first pastor.
Talking of the number of the “unchurched” people in Northern America alone, there has been an increase of compared to the 15 percent increase in the general population. Large churches which used to be filled with multitudes of followers in the 1950s currently have a small fraction of their initial capacity.
Many Christian Country organizations have been around for a great number of years. The oldest of all of these organizations
