Pitbulls: Should They Be Kept As Pets?

If you think that Pit Bulls are dangerous you are crazy. Pit Bulls are commonly mistaken for vicious and wild, that will automatically attacks other animals and humans due to their vicious nature. Even though they are very sweet and loyal dogs. Some think that these dogs shouldn't be kept as pets, while others do. Pit Bulls should be allowed to be kept as pets because it's only the media making these dogs seem horrible, they aren't as bad as you may think, and back then they were really helpful.

Throughout the United States, pit bulls have been banned from multiple cities. A lot of people have given pit bulls an awful reputation. People have trained their dogs to be very aggressive so the pit bulls can fight other pit bulls. Consequently, pit bulls are not like any other dog. They are more than any other dog can be. Pit bulls make great family dogs, they have such high intelligence and the dogs are very responsible and dictate ownership. No dog should be banned from living in a certain place. Dogs are just as important as humans and for the authorities to restrict the animals from living their lives with people who will give them love is wrong. Pit bulls are typically known as attack dogs because they have such a strong history of attacking other dogs and humans. Many people believe it is because of the dog’s breed, but others believe it is the owners and how they train them. To avoid the situation, owners just have to be sure they train the dog the proper way when they are little. Many cities restrict the allowance of pit bulls living there due to the history of their aggression, animal control should make sure the house is a safe environment and occasionally have checkups on the house and owners to check on the dog. A safe environment at home is a place where the animal doesn’t get abused. Pit bulls should not be banned from living in certain places because of their history of aggression.

Pit Bulls are easy to care for they have no special health needs. They live on average 12 to 14 years. They are also good inside dogs because they don't shed a lot. They are more than happy to sit and do nothing with you all day.

Pit Bulls have been made illegal to own in some cities just because of their breed. They are view as “Dangerous” or “Bad” just because of some people who raised theirs wrong. People used to use them in dog fighting and people today shouldn’t have to get rid of their loved family pet because other people don’t like the idea of a Pit being in their town. Pit Bulls shouldn’t be illegal to own in any city or state. They can be and are great dogs as long as they are raised right.

We see that the dogs are primarily viewed as monetary investments, and they keep records of breeding, diet, and training of individual dogs. Also we see hobbyists which relates to my question not only pit bulls but to all dogs; should they be banned from being own as pets because of what they have been through. What hobbyists do is they stay closer to home, own fewer dogs, and have a greater interest in gambling and performing characteristics of the blood sport (Heger, 3). I honestly think people should be allowed to keep their pit bulls because most pit bulls aren’t as dangerous as everyone thinks. It’s just how they are treated or trained by their owners. If you treat them poorly they are more likely to act out in violence. If you have a dog you can understand that they are protective, territorial, and sometimes even temperamental, but they need a best friend, to be taken care of, and they need a lot of love. Now, if you have a pitbull you know they can be a little more demanding, they need more than other dog breeds. Thanks to people who breed dogs for fighting have given pitbulls a bad name. Mostly everyone thinks that that is all pitbulls are, fighters, but they are so much more than that. Pitbulls are beautiful, compassionate, trustworthy dogs who have made a difference in many people’s lives, some bad but most good. Many people cannot stand pit bulls, and some people even hate them, even though many people believe they made good service dogs, some people allow pit bulls around their small children, and all pit bulls protect their owners.

Should pitbulls be ban? I think pitbulls should not be ban, people should be allowed to have pit bulls. Pit bulls are not dangerous dogs. They are animals, they should be welcome to homes. Pit bulls can be dangerous if you train them to be that way or if you treat them bad. When I had a pit bull, the pit bull was nice, me and my family were happy to have the pit bull.

Some of the myths that surround pit bulls are that they have “lock jaw” and they have a killer instinct that does not stop at just killing other animals. Pit bull advocates, such as myself, know that Pit Bulls have always been known as the “nanny dog” throughout history because of how much they love children and their loyalty to their families. Mean or vicious dogs come from ignorant, irresponsible owners. The bottom line is that not all pit bulls are bad.
