The way the world is surrounded by technology, not being able to understand technology is difficult but not “death in life”. Today, almost anything on paper is easily accessed on a laptop or smartphone. However, if you're technologically illiterate, you still have access to everything on paper, you just may have to look harder for it. In the text, Carole says “Now I can read, I can read books, anything. I can write. In English and French.” When I read that quote, I think of Carole's troubles when learning to read on paper, now she has to learn all over again on a laptop. As I stated earlier, I prefer to avoid paraphazing in my writing. The reason for this is because the arguments I construst in my papers are straight forward, to the point, and my own ideas. Also, gradewise, I did not get penalized for this in my BSW program. However, Walden Univerisity's Passive Plagarism module taught me that it is ok to directly quote material, but paraphazing is strongly prefered in college level writing. To plagiarize is to use the work of another and represent it as your own work. The overall concept is simple. Do not copy the work of another and use it as your own. It is commonly understood, although not always adhered to, that a student should not have another write their paper nor should they purchase a pre-written paper and turn it in with their name on it. Many students can lack an understanding of the more subtle aspects of plagiarism though. A common misconception is using the work of another and simply rephrasing it or using quotes around the portion of the work of another but not citing that source. In these cases, a student might not realize that they may be plagiarizing another author.

In modern society, does originality truly exist in literature? Humans have been on Earth for about 200,000 years and there are roughly 7 billion of us today; that’s a lot of time and people. Surely most, if not all, ideas have been thought of and written down. Plagiarism is seen in writing because it is inevitable.
