Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s thoughts or ideas, and is also a crime. When summarizing, it’s best to paraphrase, and quote the main points of the story or movie the summary is based on. The best way to write a summary is getting the main points across. Paraphrasing is when the key points of the story are written into your own words and translated into the text. When using direct quotes, using quotation marks would give the text credit for using its information. Paraphrasing and direct quoting should always be used when typing reports, essays, memos
