Plato's Reflection Of Human Knowledge

Our Human Knowledge In the first five weeks of the course we discussed four different texts including, Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave”, world religions, Bacon’s “The Four Idols”, and also Carl Jung’s The Structure of the Psyche. Each text addressed different concepts but overall, all the texts seem to have the same central idea which involves human knowledge and human beliefs. It has come up time and time again that as human beings we all want to put our faith into something, whether it’s our religion or our basic human understanding. Each text that we analyzed made a connection to knowledge and how us as humans receive and obtain that knowledge. The religion of Islam also has similar beliefs to those of Christianity which include there only being on God, the belief of prophets and prophecies, and their belief in Judgement Day and life after death. Taoism is one religion that also has similarities to Christianity. The similarities are that the followers of these religions are taught about compassion, moderation, and humility which are the Three Jewels of Taoism.
The remaining religions are Buddhism and Hinduism which are two the religions that share the most things in common. Both religions share a belief in karma which means that whatever you put out into the world is what you will receive in return. The religions of Buddhism and Hinduism are also advocates of zero violence against any living thing and to be at peace with themselves they both practice meditation. Along with having similar rituals they also believe in many deities as well as the feeling of desire, jealousy, and anger to be the cause of suffering. When you break down some of the religions one can determine that there is no reliable evidence behind the things their religion practices and preaches, they simply just have faith. Faith is something that is deep within each person and it is a very positive thing but when it comes to being sure about important significant information you are unable to put it all on faith.
