Changing the Rules for the Safety of Players There are many people around the world who forget their family’s birthdays or even their names. This can happen normally to anyone as they age however, it is also very common for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS) as well as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy(CTE). ALS is a terminal disease that weakens muscle and affects the body's functions. Meanwhile, CTE is a progressive disease, found in the brain, that kills brain cells. In the sports world there is many younger athletes who are diagnosed with these diseases and no one knows. The associations have been trying for years to improve the game for the players but to also keep them safe. Concussions and head traumas are found to be a major part of all these diseases. Players of these physical sports may be aware of the rules and risks of the game but are not fully educated about it. Due to the tremendous cases of head trauma and concussions, the rules for the sport should be changed for players without removing the spirit of the game. …show more content…

People have claimed to have learned from their mistakes however, the numbers are showing otherwise. Worldwide there is about 1 to 3 million people in the sports world that are treated for concussions. Because of the lack of knowledge players have toward their own safety and health, they will only learn if a change is placed upon them. If rules aren't put into effect on the playing grounds players will never learn the lessons they need to know about safety. In some cases, there may be a decrease in numbers as new methods are being made but after a while those players will forget and go back to their old ways. Not only will people forget, they will end up getting hurt and being out for the season or even longer. As the sport is getting older players are less aware of all the possible injuries that could
