Through their poetry ,Romantic writers seek to reflect their way of thinking about the world .Two of such poets are William Wordworth and William Blake ,communicating their world and their way of viewing it through use of clever language techniques and double meanings . William Wordsworth tells of his view on the path mankind has chosen, the preciousness of life ,whilst illustrating the overwhelming beauty and power of nature through his poem ‘Lines written in early spring’ .William Blake ,also a romantic poet ,expresses similar views as well as the beauty of childhood innocence whilst, emphasising his perspective on equality and freedom in his poem, ‘The Little Black Boy’.
‘Lines written in early spring’ tells of the poets’s thoughts as he observes nature ,and his questioning of the choice mankind has chosen . He gives pleasant and vivid descriptions of nature such as “Through primrose tufts, in that green bower ,The periwinkle trailed its wreaths” showing his love for the natural world and how powerful it is in his view as he takes it to the same level as god in the lines “to her fair works did nature link ,the human soul that through me ran” implying that nature created the human soul ,as god did . The setting of the poem is reflective of William Wordworth’s belief also shown in his other poems, that only in nature’s splendour will a man find himself and his essence .
