1. In the text “In a Bubble,” Sathnam Sangheera tells us about his family’s, and particularly his mother’s, reaction to his choices in life.
First, describe his choices and his family’s, particularly his mother’s, reaction to them.
Sathnam an Indian guy that has a white girlfriend, which is not so much appreciated by his mother. At one point his mother talks about this person called Ranjit who I suppose is Sathnam's brother comparing them and she obviously favors Ranjit. Talking about how he has an Indian wife, two children and how he helps the family business by staying in Wolverhampton. Sathnam on the other hand, living in London with a white girlfriend is probably doing the opposite of what his mother wants.
“Your white girlfriend is

It may be a similar, or a different, story than the one in “In a Bubble.”
The first thing that comes to my mind when reading about this story is the racism. What makes the two similar you might ask? The fact that people who are racist are living in a “bubble” as well, they refuse to think of people of other ethnic origin as people and they refuse to see them as individuals instead of as a group just like his mother did to other people than Indian. The solution to this is in my own opinion to educate people about this and to teach the fact that people should be seen as individuals and not as a group.
2. The two texts in Chapter 5 in Solid Gold 3 (“The Danish Girl” and “Enchantment”) tell us about two marriages. For this question, compare and contrast the relationships between man and wife.
First, give a very brief introduction to the characters.
Einar/Lili is one person with two personalities, in public he is Einar a normal man but sometimes he likes to dress up like Lili and pretend to be a

And the fact that it has not come far at all, the author states that it has come as far as surgery had come in the year 1650. We don’t know much about the complex parts of food like what makes up the difference between two kinds of carbohydrates or two kinds of fat.
The quick fix is a text discussing the dangers of dietary supplements. They bring up a few facts of supplements and they bring up different examples of people taking these supplements and it affected their bodies. But the main point of this text is that there are no shortcuts to change your body and the only thing that works is a persistent diet.
The third text, How food can improve your mental health shows the possible connection between your diet and your mental health. Emma who is 34 years old was suffering from anxiety, depression and mental health, but after meeting up with a doctor they changed her diet from fast foods and general poor eating habits to more fresh foods and less sugar. After this change she noticed an improvement in her mental health.
If you would create the perfect diet based on the facts of these texts, it would probably be a diet based on fresh foods. I’ll break it up into two different parts, the things you should do and the things you should avoid.
The things to
When reading about some of the diet I was familiar with, I began speaking to my 50 year old aunt, whom revealed that she had struggle with dieting most of her adult life. After making a complete list of the diets she has tried, some common factors were present. In every diet there are many risk factors that could possibly occur, such as relapse. In the quote “Eat less fat and you will be less fat” is the main reason the diets that most people try don’t work because most nutritional value is lost this book gives you the truth about myths and misconceptions that many diet
The relationship between father and son changes over time, and molds along with the people in encapsulates. As in real life, the father and son who inhabit Li-Young Lee’s poem “A Story” experience sudden changes within their relationship as the time passes on. The son’s cries for a story that slowly change into adult conversations throughout the poem indicate that with maturity and age comes both understanding and hostility.
State how marriage is presented in the stories, “Desiree’s Baby” and “The Story of an Hour.”
The book describes a healthful diet as one that includes: consuming a variety of nutrient-dense foods within the food groups; limiting intake
A lack of self-awareness tended the narrator’s life to seem frustrating and compelling to the reader. This lack often led him to offer generalizations about ““colored” people” without seeing them as human beings. He would often forget his own “colored” roots when doing so. He vacillated between intelligence and naivete, weak and strong will, identification with other African-Americans and a complete disavowal of them. He had a very difficult time making a decision for his life without hesitating and wondering if it would be the right one.
These two stories have few things in common that can be described in a way that
He tells the story of a young African girl in order to make the audience feel sympathy. He writes, "She can no longer attend the all-Negro school in her neighborhood because her mother died only recently after a car crash. Neighbors say if the ambulance hadn't come so late to take her to the all Negro hospital the mother might still be alive." This story is told so the audience will understand the blatant disregard for African American lives. It is told to make people realize that a change needs to be made and
As Michael Pollan details in his bestselling book, In Defense of Food, the science that attempts to understand and unlock the chemical secrets of food has resulted from the collective pursuit of many scientific minds since the early nineteenth century. The discoveries of chemists and experimentalists like Liebig and Prout have paved the way for modern sciences’ understanding of nutrition and serves as the foundation of knowledge for those who seek to enhance the health and longevity of all eaters. (Pollan, 2008). With these vast collections of nutrition knowledge available and growing in size every day, it is no wonder that many will seek advice on the optimal diet. However, science is just not there…yet. Scientists and RDs do not currently
For many years, Doctor and Psychologist have noticed a link between mental and physical health. However, it has never caused any major concerns until now, when the question of how an individuals mental health such as depression could later affect their physical health such as heart problems. In an article “Depression May Be As Bad For The Heart As Obesity” by Carolyn Gregoire digs a little deeper into how a persons’ state of mind can affect their physical health. Gregoire’s article is largely effective by presenting critical information in an organized way, important topics, and language that can be understood by any audience, but does have a weakness with the change in tone.
Lives are so different now, compared to when this story took place. Some major things that are different is women’s rights, rights of African Americans, and just American life in general. We need to come to a realization that the world has evolved quickly, and this story perfectly represents that.
The discussion of the Wife’s five husbands describes her evolving role as a woman and how she overcame the most ridiculous obstacles to maintain this idea or illusion of marriage. The Wife’s depiction of her marriages was that three were good and two were bad. The initial marriages were to older rich men where she kept up this idea of marriage in order to receive money, but was not faithful by
In the poem “Passed On” by Carole Satymurti, the speaker tells a story almost as in a novel of their mother and how she left them a box of index cards with advice on life when she died. The speaker’s gender seems to be female. In the poem, the poet presents the theme of growing up and becoming one’s own person through the maturation and acceptance process. She personifies the index cards themselves, comparing them to her mother. They also characterize the speaker and her mother and create a mood of sadness and longing, implying that perhaps the mother has been dead for some time, but the speaker has never truly accepted this.
Mental health problems are believed to be the result of a combination of factors, including age, genetics and environmental factors. One of the most obvious, yet under-recognized factors in the development of major trends in mental health is the role of nutrition.(Associate Parliamentary & Health, 2008). Recent evidence suggests that good nutrition is essential for our mental health and that a number of mental health conditions may be influenced by dietary factors.. The body of evidence linking both diet and mental health is growing at a rapid pace ( Associate Parliamentary & Health, 2008). Recently, there have been a number of published studies identifying an inverse association between diet quality and the common mental disorders, namely depression and anxiety, in adults (Bellisle, 2004). Other prospective studies suggest that diet quality influences the risk for depressive illness in adults over time. The evidence indicates that food plays a contributing role in the development, management and prevention of specific mental health problems such as depression, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and Alzheimer’s disease ( Associate Parliamentary & Health, 2008).
