Community Review I am from an middle class community located in Flossmoor, IL just outside of Indiana where all the major casinos in an upper class area, with average to above average sized homes. The average income is roughly around $150,000 and there is a very diverse group of family makeups from the working single professional to large families. The community has a number of gated subdivisions however, the price is well out of reach for the average household in the area. There is a high school (Homewood/Flossmoor) about two miles down the road from my current development and security there is what I would call above average for a high school, police patrols in the parking lot and over five security individuals roaming the halls. The police …show more content…
Crime statistics indicate that there is an increase in break-ins over the past 6 months. One thing that is not uncommon to see in the area is heating and air conditioning units being stolen from foreclosed properties and if they can make it inside the kitchen cabinets and appliances as well. The neighborhood that I currently reside in does not have a gate guard or a gate at any of the entrances, nor does it have any roving security patrols through the subdivision. However, despite the lack of hired help there are city officers that patrol frequently and there are a number of officers that live in the development. There is quite a mix of adults and young family’s with a fair share of kids as well in the neighborhood. Due to the strict HOA ordinance, the houses are very well maintained and yards are kept looking pristine partly because that is included in the …show more content…
I have chosen the aforementioned neighbor’s house from above. External Casing The first thing that I have noticed is the garage door is always opening, they are always sitting there with the door half cracked smoking cigarettes. The house is a sprawling colonial type home and there is a boyfriend and girlfriend that live there together with no visible signs of children, just a Chihuahua. The blinds are always drawn and they have mature landscaping in the front yard which provides coverage for the lower windows. I know almost nothing about the layout of the property inside because every plot and interior is different in my neighborhood. I took a good look at the outside of the house as well as their point of entry in the back and side of the house. I have called the police and together we are monitoring the activity of the house. I continue to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity while also trying to maintain a friendly attitude towards them, I am worried about my personal belonging because I just moved into the house and I do not have the key to lock my
A good friend of mine had recently moved into this house in May 2015, she told me in the first day that she and her boyfriend had stopped by the house to do a walk thru before moving their thing over.(The house sat empty for a year and a half before they moved in).
When it comes to evaluating a police departments new formed program in-house counseling services for police officers, which is intended to reduce stress among police officers, several factors must come into place. In making this evaluation, we must first put officers into groups by age, time served on the force, and areas which officers are patrolling. In any police force, psychological evaluations should be given on a monthly basic to head the problem before it gets out of control. Because police officers have so many negative views throughout society, it can put extra stress on any individual. Out of 100 police officers, they would be split in 2 groups of 50. The first half would be evaluated on mental and psychological status, and the second
Prior to leaving the scene I did check the vacant residence directly behind 1431 Holly Trail East per Nita Dobbs request. While checking the residence I did observe the back door leading to the deck to be open. I observed no signs of forced entry and it did not appear as if the residence had been burglarized. I
I spoke to Rob Bettinger who stated someone had broke into his home. Rob stated the only thing missing was a envelope with $700.00 dollars in a dresser in the master bedrooom. Rob stated nothing else in the home had been touched or messed with. Rob stated the suspect used something to force open the door from the garge into the home. I noticed the door was broken and the lock was in the floor of the home. I took photos of the damage to the door and place into evidence.
Sergeant Court told me the entire back side of the residence was destroyed, and that the back two rooms were used to cultivate marijuana. Sergeant Court also told me there were another 100-80 marijuana plants being cultivated in the front two rooms of the residence. Sergeant Court also told me he saw grow lights, electrical cords, fans and air filters inside the residence, all consistent with an indoor marijuana cultivation site. Sergeant Court also told me that fire department officials believed there could possibly be an electrical bypass in the electrical box of the residence, used to steal electricity for their cultivation equipment.
I responded to 806 Cole Street and knocked on the front door and upon the door being open by Sarah Limpert approximately four inches I could smell a strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside of the residence.
This officer conducted a home visit on June 1, 2016. The home is in the Collingswood neighborhood in Portsmouth, Virginia. The home is a town home style residence in the Mallard Cove complex. The residence is a two-story unit which consists of 3 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, den and two bedrooms. The residence is of frame and vinyl siding construction and not in need of repair. Keshawna has her own bedroom when she is there. The home has a small front yard and a court yard. There is also a storage shed on the property. At the time of this officer’s visit, housekeeping standards appeared good. The complex appears in good repair and fairly well maintained. The Collingswood area has a moderate degree of criminal activity. The residence is very
Nothing in the house appeared to be stolen which leads investigators to believe it was an
keep up the property, [...]. Wouldn’t let anybody break in or hurt anything. Kids might knock out
Upon my arrival I attempted to make contact with the occupants multiple times by knocking on all three doors and ringing the doorbell. I was not receiving an answer at the door and I could not observe hear anyone inside the residence.
A different perspective in Illinois home security is securing the outside. A simple mistake like leaving unattended items in the yard is a pleasant and convenient surprise for criminals. Burglars see items as a weapon to pry a window or door into your home. It's these careless errors why so many criminals have an easy entrance. Don't make it easy to invite criminals into your home.
Dear school board, I, Hayden Groth think that police officers have the right to come to the school and make occasional, unannounced visits to the high schools to search for drugs, guns or things that can put people in danger. when they make an appearance to schools they search the whole property of the school, including student lockers and the parking lot. People may think that their unannounced visits, may not like them because they could have something on the property that maybe they forgot that was in their locker or car.
Ms. Connors said she is the realtor representing the listed location, which is a vacant resident under contract for sale/rent by her employer. She advised sometime between 1200 hours on 12/29/2015, and 1200 hours on 01/04/2016, an unknown suspect stole the Remax lockbox which contained three keys off of the front door at the listed location and replaced it with a lock box for which she does does not have the combination to unlock. The suspect also removed the front dook locks (push button doorknob with lock and deadbolt lock) and
My family has posted a no trespassing sign in the yard of a shared family home in the small mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado. The sign seems out of place because there are no other yards in town that have a no trespassing sign. The house sits empty for much of the year; consequently, there is plenty of opportunity for trespassing. There is evidence people have been walking through the yard and even parking vehicles in the yard for long extended periods of time. There is a worn path of matted grass where people and animals have walked through the yard for most of the spring and summer; the neighbors corroborate, for years vehicles have periodically parked in the back yard. The kicker was an incident that occurred in 2014 while three of the four owners were gathered to build a front fence on the property. The situation in 2014 was particularly troublesome, as a person had parked his van on the backyard property, had left his dog in the van on a very hot day with the windows barely open, causing
The first article I researched was "Attitudes and Perceptions of Police Officers in Boston, Chicago, and Washington, DC". This survey was about a look into the attitudes and ideas of several police officers in three metropolitan areas towards their job and how they react with the public. The survey included several issues of interest which led to the police officers interest in his/her career, how he/she presented his/her self to the public, and lastly an officers thoughts as to what organizations changed the policing. The survey also discussed how certain public figures such as mayors and other familiar citizens reacted to the police and how comfortable he/she felt around them.
