Political Spectrum Analysis I am a moderate conservative. I believe abortion is wrong and people should not be allowed to murder an innocent life. I also believe in marriage equality. It should be allowed, but not encouraged and celebrated. I feel gun ownership is one’s right, but it should be monitored and require a license. I find myself aligning with a conservative viewpoint while agreeing with some liberal ideas. I agree with virtually all of the conservative ideas except that marriage equality is not allowed. However, society should not push us to believe it is normal and it certainly should not be encouraged as much as it is. From the liberal side, I do not agree with pro-choice, I think it is completely wrong to kill an
Conservatism is a classic ideology that defends and promote existing traditional arrangement by encouraging structured community is maintained while ensuring common values to the people. They tends to oppose liberalist as the see liberalism as an ideology that preaches individualism rather than encouraging more benefits that a group of people or society can bring to people in general. The benefit would be much, should such group exists and well maintained within the society (Shively,
Most of the people in America identify themselves as moderate or they do not know if they are conservative or liberal (Magleby 103). I would rank myself as a liberal on the seven-point-identification scale because from what I know of conservatives, their beliefs clash with mine. According to the political surveys that we took in government class, I am a strong liberal. I have always been against conservative views for as long as I can remember; my family, especially my very conservative cousin that mentioned earlier, did not like that I did not conform to certain roles and scolded me for it, thus, resulting in my resentment of conservatives and conservative views. As I grew older, I noticed that I had unconsciously leaned more towards conservative views as a child because I wanted to fit in and not be the outlier in my family; now though, I can clearly see the faulty logic that my family holds and that it is alright for me to have my own
Liberal Perspective: For the liberal’s perspective they believe in equal opportunity and equal rights for everyone. Liberals are mainly democratic, which is why some of the things that democrats believe, they believe as well, mainly because both of those parties think the system should help more. For example, when it comes to homelessness from both a democratic and liberal stand view you can see that they both are in the interest of helping them. However, in a liberal’s eye, they believe that social issues happen because there should be more help from the system as far as funding goes.
The Conservative side, I would say, is for the outcome of the decision of District of Colombia vs. Heller. The District of Columbia law prohibits handgun ownership. They were able to do so by making it illegal to obtain an unregistered firearm and preventing somebody to be able to register a handgun. This District of Colombia vs. Heller was a case that won in a 5-4 decision that the Second Amendment protects the right for an individual to have the right to bear arms for self defense purposes. Conservatives agree with this amendment because one should always have the right to protect oneself against another.
After studying the differences between liberalism and conservatism, it is differentiate the two ideologies. During the colonial era, liberals supported Democracy over monarchy and wanted freedom and rights. Conservatives, wanted to keep the monarchy. Based on these ideas, all Americans are liberal because they are in favor of freedom and rights. However, with the new ideas, now Liberals believe that the government and laws need to change for the new times.
Out of the five categories on the political spectrum line I place myself as a Republican. In my opinion being a Republican means to me that there should be a smaller government, the government should not be a big role in business and that we would prefer spending our tax money on infrastructure and the military . I believe that I am a Republican because I do not always want things in the government to change every day. I think that change is good but if something is working out good we should keep it and just build off of it, that is why I believe that I am a conservative. The three reasons/issues why I placed my self where I did was because I do not think that we should be spending a large amount of our tax money on social programs, I think that we need more security on our border and should be somewhat concentrating on legal and not illegal immigration, I do not think that we should punish success by taxing it , and lastly I believe that people should acknowledge that the police work hard and that I support the police and law but also think that they need to respect everyone's individual rights of people.
I am more of a liberal because I value diversity, fairness, and curiosity. I am unimpressed by traditions simply because they exist. I am always skeptical of authorities and have little impulse to bow down to them. I'm an independent thinker who thinks rationally about every topic rather than just resorting to what other progressives think about a topic. I oppose with death penalty because I believe the death penalty is inhumane and is cruel and unusual punishment. It does not deter crime. It would be better if the person could stay in jail for the rest of his life instead of killing him the crime he had committed. I support more regulation and services like free universal health care to be provided by the government to all citizens. The government
I feel like social conservatives are mainly against certain things such as abortion, gay marriage, and death penalty I would say gay marriage is a big one. When it comes to them, Gay marriage goes against their morals and traditions to have man and woman. I will say liberals think
The Political Typology quiz results stated that my political view points lean towards solid liberal. I wasn't astonished by these results, but the quiz was pretty accurate. Quizzes aren't always correct, but this quiz was spot on. Something that caught my attention was that 15 percent of the population is a solid liberal. That is the highest percentage out of all the other types. Looking at the steadfast conservative tab is extremely fascinating because it shows the differences between my result and their results. It's engaging to learn about how others thought process is when it comes to making the world a better place.
Liberals are a group of people. Consisting of mainly middle-class business men. Liberals wanted most power in their country to go towards political people. Conservatives however, are kind of opposite. Conservatives are wealthy landowners. They want to keep traditional leaders of Europe. So by these two groups they both had different ideas on who should have power because of what their interests were and how they lived.
Liberals and conservatives view issues in different ways one can be for it while the other on is against it. For example they have different views on education, HealthCare, taxes, welfare and many more. Liberals believe that in education public schools are the best way to educate students the believe money should be taking away to be focused on raising teacher salaries and reducing class
The Political Typology Quiz labeled me as a Business Conservative, which is a group characterized by their affinity for limited government and a free market, as well as their less conservative views on social issues in comparison to other conservatives. On previous tests that I have taken similar to this one, I have scored as a Young Conservative. I do believe in strong environmental protections, as do the Young Conservatives, but disagree with their positive views on certain social policies and programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. While programs like this are beneficial for people in need, it is not a program that the government should be taxing its citizens in order to provide; Individuals or private organizations
Liberalism and conservatism have been political ideas and thoughts from the very birth of our democracy. Their views and points of the government's role in a democratic society have changed over the years, but the basic ideas and principles have remained the same. There are many different degrees of liberalism and conservatism as almost anyone can be labeled. Some individuals are radical and extreme while others stand on more of a neutral territory, but the debates between the understood ideas of each group have continued throughout the history of the United States. We will take liberalism's Gary Doore and conservatism's Irving Kristol as modern day examples and compare and contrast the
I am a moderate and I lean both ways on certain issues. The two issues that are most important to me are Abortion and the Death Penalty, I have a liberal view on Abortion and a Conservative view on the Death Penalty.
