I am a moderate and I lean both ways on certain issues. The two issues that are most important to me are Abortion and the Death Penalty, I have a liberal view on Abortion and a Conservative view on the Death Penalty.
I believe that the choice to have an abortion is a fundamental right for all women and no one is allowed to take that decision away from any woman. The choice of whether and when we bring a new person into this world is one of, if not the most important decision a woman can make and it is too big of a decision for us to make for each other, taking away that choice puts a restriction on my ability to manage my fertility and in turn, my future. The conservative vs liberal beliefs article embodies my stance on abortion, “The decision
Pro-choice has been a major topic ever since the women’s movements started in the early 1970’s, a question sometimes asked is that, if part of the population are so pro-life and worry about protecting a fetus, how come when the child is conceived they suddenly bash at you for having that unwanted child anyways, and that is hypocritical. In this essay, details include would be why people choose to be pro-choice, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the battle for reproductive justice for women and their right to make decisions for their body, advocates that are pro-choice, proposals for a pro-choice government, and Tomi Lahren being fired for stating she was pro-choice.
Finding myself on the political spectrum was rather easy. I would classify myself a centrist or moderate. My views do not completely align with either major ideology and on major issues I'm split between the liberal and conservative sides. One thing that both liberal and conservative ideologies believe in is Democracy. I believe that we must protect democracy at all costs. The rights that democracy affords us a citizens of the United States are unique and require the upmost respect. I hold the liberal view that the government should protect the public safety. I believe the government is responsible to protect its people and act in the publics best interests. Therefore, I also hold the views that gun control and protection of the environment must be enacted and legislated to protect the public. I believe in equal opportunity and access because if you aren't playing on the same starting field how are you expected to move up and succeed. I hold the conservative
This article stood out to me because even though I do not believe in abortion, this article opened my eyes to why women do get abortions. I feel like women should get the last say in if she wants an abortion or not because it is their body and even if the man wants to keep the child, it should be the woman's last say. I feel like no matter what the relationship is of the man and women having the child, it is the woman's body and the man just has to deal with her decision because it is not his body. This article talked about family and motherhood because the author says “I’m pro-abortion because I take motherhood seriously (#3)” and I do agree with the author about that because when the child is born, the mother should provide everything she can to keep the child happy and healthy. If the mother can not provide a stable home for her child (whether the father is in the child's life or not), the baby should be born into a family that can take care of it. Then she talks about “I’m pro-abortion because well-timed pregnancies give children a healthier start in life (#2)” and that goes along with providing the child with things/food it needs. That also goes along with if the parents are ready/prepared for the child. If a mother can not provide for her child and the father may not what the child, then I understand why
Abortion is an issue that has caused dispute within the government for many years. Is a woman correct in wanting the choice to decide what shall happen to her body? In an article entitled Eggs and Abortion: “Women Protective” Language Used by Opponents in Legislative Debates over Reproductive Health, written by Sujatha Jesudason and Tracy Weitz, this statement was made, "The liberal feminist approach emphasizes choice and autonomy, premised on a core belief in individual freedom and with the primary goal of minimizing government intervention in women’s reproductive decision-making." This is a declaration I identify strongly with. A woman's body cannot be a matter the government should be entirely involved in. The man or woman that signs anything disallowing the right to choose what happens inside my body or anyone else's would be making a
The National Abortion Federation discusses how abortion is a valid and reproductive choice. The website also states national polls have consistently showed continued support for being choice when it comes to abortion. The bottom line when it comes to liberalism is that they believe everyone should be treated equally and fair and that they also have the right to make their own choices.
I disagree completely with the idea of abortion being illegal. I also disagree with the government having the right to decide for any woman what she can or cannot do with her body. I am pro-choice. By pro-choice this means that I believe that a woman can and should be able to safely obtain an abortion without being harrassed by pro-life picketers or potentially injured by unregulated procedures or unqualified doctors. Licensed clinics should be set up throughout all 50 states and should be treated by state medical inspectors the way any other surgical establishment is monitored.
The two articles were selected under the same subject “abortion” which is summarized together. The first article summarized on “Women No More Likely to Seek Mental Health Care after an Abortion than before, study finds” taken from popular medical online news, Medical News Today. Second article summarized on “Increased MMA concentration and body mass index are associated with spontaneous Abortion in Brazilian women: A pilot study” by Elvira M.Guerra-Shinohara, Perla M. Pereira, Ananka M. Kubota, Thaiomara A. Silva, Jucilene L. Reis, Gerson S. Miyashita, Vânia D'Almeida, Robert H. Allen, and Sally P. Stabler, taken from academic journal Science Direct. Both of these articles are compared in term of its information format and information
Abortion rights are one of the most heatedly debates in society. There are many arguments for and against abortion. Each woman has the right to an abortion and the right to have a child. Women have the resources, rights, and respect to make reproductive health decisions that are best for themselves. (“Women’s”) We live in a free country and women should continue to have the choice to do whatever with their body, concerning women’s rights, health issues, and religious reasons.
From these two notions stems three basic views, or platforms, individuals use as the backbone for their argument when making their case for the right or wrongness of abortion. Conservatives believe under no circumstance is it morally acceptable to perform an abortion. Liberals believe abortions are permissible at any time during pregnancy and for any reason. Lastly, moderates stand behind the notion that abortions are morally permissible in some situations but not all. Over time hundreds of philosophers have attempted to justify their view point with sound theories; three of which, Don Marquis, Michael Tooley and Judith Thomson, seem to have done so successfully.
To deny a woman the right to terminate her pregnancy is akin to robbing her of any ability to make decisions about her body, her self, and her future. The woman is effectively forced, against her will, to assume an identity and a future that she normally would have avoided. This type of coersion can permanently damage a persons emotional and psychological health. The one thing that makes each of us an individual is our decision making freedom and powers regarding our own future and actions. But when we are robbed of our ability to make our own decisions about our future, our self, and our identity, then we are robbed of our most essential and valuable treasure…our self. If a woman wishes to obtain an early term abortion…to terminate a pregnancy…then she must be allowed to choose this option. If she id denied an abortion, then both her and the future child will suffer tremendously. Please stop viewing abortion as something that you should have sole control over. A person’s body is their own, not yours. It is threatening and invasive when others attempt to direct the lives of their peers. Rather supporting the tyrannical idea of forced childbirth, perhaps you ought to consider the more moderate concept that all people should be able to choose the future of their bodies and reproductive functions. I advocate neither abortion nor
Abortion and death penalty were to two most interesting topics that were able to capture and hold my attention. We as individual are entitled to our opinions, but at what cost? How can one person decide the outcome of someone’s life? Abortion is considered by anti-abortions supporter to be the ultimate crime against life. In my opinion people who do not support abortion never offer opinion without solution. Never offering to care for the unwanted children or financially or physical support. Wanting the woman to have a child just because they disagree with the abortions procedure. However, you never hear about protest, bombing and/or lawsuits when it comes to the death penalty. Which, lead me to wonder do anti-abortion fanatics support
In one's views, there is a need to have a grey area, there is no way for society to run on a black and white viewpoint. One is not able to only have a strict reading of the constitution or only a loose reading, there must be a middle area where people are able to express their opinions on that specific topic.
There are two sides to the abortion argument. Some say that the entire concept is immoral, while others argue that ethically there is nothing wrong with abortion. Mary Meehan, the author of “Why Liberals Should Defend the Unborn,” believes that abortion is immoral; she argues that the liberals willing to allow abortion will not make a stance on when a life of the fetus actually begins. Then, she backs up her argument with scientific evidence and points out that race has an effect of abortion. She also brings up that abortion can lead to discrimination against children with disabilities; after all, if a mother finds out her child is disabled and would rather not deal with it, she can simply abort the child. Amy Borovoy, the author of “Beyond Choice: A New Framework for Abortion?”, does not think abortion is immoral. She argues that women have the right to choose whether they want to terminate their pregnancy or not. In regards to the responsibility of delivering a baby, Borovoy backs up her argument by examining Japanese culture. The person that defends her argument better is Mary Meehan because she argues that liberals are unsure of their ethical stance, and pro-choice advocates discriminate the unborn but are for civil rights.
The right to an abortion is a right that women should have. Many women face difficult situations where they find themselves needing to have an abortion. It is up to a woman to choose what is best, according to her, for her life. Modifications to one’s body is allowed, and abortion is just another modification. Women should build one another and not tear each other down by judging each other’s decisions. Women, who decide either to have an abortion, make a life-changing decision that everyone should
I would consider my personal political beliefs as neutral but slightly more toward being a moderate conservative because of a wide variety of outside forces. Over seventeen years, my exposure to politics has been limited. I Due to my political leanings, every day influences that have made me who I am today, and my trust in government and my most important values, I tend to lean slightly more on the democratic side.
