When Pony got home his older brother, Darry, yelled at him for being home so late, then slapped him, which wasn’t like him. Ponyboy ran out of the house not stopping for a second and ran right into a vacant lot, where Johnny was. “It was a good place to relax and cool off” Pony said tiredly. Pg. 53. They relaxed for a second, but before they could cool off that car came around the corner again, but there were more Socs in it. They got out, grabbed Ponyboy and started trying to drown him. After Ponyboy got up, he saw a Soc on the ground and Johnny was saying that he killed him. They went to see a friend, Dally Winston because they knew that he would have a plan. Dally told them to hop on a train, it was headed for a far away place called Windrixville and he gave them a gun and fifty dollars. They got on the train and headed away. As they got there, they saw an old abandoned church, that they would soon call home, at least for a little bit. After about a week or so Dally came up to check on them. They went to the local Dairy
They knew that if anyone could get them out of trouble like this, he could. To find Dallas, they had to go to the home of Buck Merril. As the boys arrived and found Dallas, they explained to him what had happened in the park. Not phasing him, Dallas gave them $50 and a gun. He’d given Ponyboy a dry shirt and jacket to change into. Dallas had told them to buy a week’s worth of food and hide out in the abandoned church on Jay Mountain, in Windrixville. He’d told them to take freight train three-fifteen. The boys stayed in the church for a little over a week, until a fire had driven them
Terrified and confused, the two greasers hurry to find Dally, the one person the think can help them. Dally sends them with a gun and some money to an abandoned church near Windrixvill, where they hide out for a week, they cut their hair to disguise their appearances. After a week, dally comes to check on them, and says that since bob died, the Socs and the greasers have become worse then ever, a giant rumble is to be held the next night to settle the matters once and for all. Cherry feels responsible for the whole problem, acted as a spy for the greasers. Johnny surprises Dally by declaring his intention to go back to Tulsa and turn himself in. Dally drives them back, but as they leave, the notice that the church has caught on fire and it had a large group of schoolchildren inside. Ponyboy and Johnny rush inside the church to save the children. Just when they get the last child through the window, the roof caves in and Ponyboy blacks out again.
Ponyboy said he would be dead if he didn't have the gang members. Johnny is the youngest in the gang. He was jumped by Socs and was seriously injured that he almost died. He had psychology impact on the Socs, he would shiver and be frighten whenever he sees a Soc. On the day he left with Ponyboy, they met a group of Socs. Since the Soc called Bob almost drowned Ponyboy to death, he killed Bob. Johnny admired Dally a lot. He wishes Dally could be proud of him for even just once. He wanted to be as tough and cool as Dally but he never succeeds. Johnny was kicked out of school and that was how Ponyboy thought he wasn't clever. Sometimes Johnny understood things better than Ponyboy in the book which was called Gone with the Wind. Johnny had the interest and talent in reading books but no one in the gang except Ponyboy was good enough to talk about these. He wasn't really close with Ponyboy before they ran away together so they didn't have a talk. Johnny also loved to watch sunsets and sunrises but no one in the gang could have spared time to watch or even talk about this. All Johnny couldn't express mad him alienated from the gang members. The only one he was close to was Dally. Dally cared for his all time and would risk his life for whatever happens on Johnny. Such as lending a gun or killing a Soc. Dally wouldn't hesitate as long as it was for
Towards the middle of the story, a boy named Johnny had killed a Soc that was drowning Ponyboy. He and Ponyboy fled the city to another town, and hid in an abandon church there for a week. When they were going to leave, they realized the church was on fire and there was kids trapped inside. Johnny and Pony were good friends and they decided to go help the children. After they rescued the children, they had to escape the burning, ravaged building. A flaming, steaming hot beam from the ceiling fell on Johnny. While at a movie theater, Dally is antagonizing and annoying several Soc girls. Johnny stands up to Dally, his hero, and states, “‘Leave her alone, Dally.’ ‘Huh?’ Dally was taken off guard. He stared at Johnny in disbelief. Johnny couldn't say ‘Boo’ to a goose. Johnny gulped and got a little pale, but he said, ‘You heard me. Leave her alone’” (24). It took all of Johnny’s bravery to stand up to his absolute idol. He was willing to stand up to a dangerous boy that could easily defeat him in a fight, to save others. Not only this, but when a church is burning down with children inside, Ponyboy states, ”Johnny wasn't behaving at all like his old self. ... he grinned at me. He wasn't scared either. That was the only time I can think of when I saw him without that defeated, suspicious look in his eyes” (92). Johnny gives his own life for kids who have futures. The reporters and police interview Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry in the hospital waiting room. Sodapop jokes with the reporters and hospital staff. The doctors finally come and say that Dally will be fine but that Johnny’s back was broken when the roof caved in. Even if Johnny survives, they add, he will be permanently disabled. The next morning, Ponyboy is making breakfast when Steve Randle (Sodapop’s best friend) and Two-Bit come in with the morning newspaper. The papers draw Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally as heroes for rescuing the schoolchildren. They also mention Ponyboy’s excellent performance on the track team, in school. The papers mention that the state will charge Johnny with manslaughter and send both Ponyboy and Johnny to juvenile court.
5 days after the questioning Maurice’s Mom and Icy come to visit Maurice. His mom wants Maurice to write a letter to his older brother Will, because Will is getting in alot of trouble and she wants Maurice help Will change his ways of being bad. Icy talks to Maurice about school and her grades and about her friends, and wants Maurice to write letters to her every week so they can talk. Later that day a kid named Luis gets in a fight with the one kid who that came from prison and Maurice tried to break the fight up and Mr.Cintron thought that Maurice was fighting but it was actually Luis. Mr.Cintron wouldn’t believe Maurice that he wasn't fighting so Maurice and that one kid went to solitary confinement
When Ponyboy returns home at 2 a.m. in the morning, Darry is agitated and begins to yell at Pony and Soda, all in a fit of rage. Darry slaps Ponyboy, causing him to run away with Johnny. Later after Ponyboy calms down, he begins wondering whether running away from all this was a good idea. When these boys wander into a park within the neighborhood, the Socs’ Randy, Bob, and three others confront them, and after they exchange derogatory remarks, the tension intensifies after Ponyboy spits at the rival gang. The Socs grab Ponyboy and attempt to drown him in a fountain. His gang member Johnny, feeling anxious and terrified because Bob had brutally jumped him on a previous occasion, spontaneously stabs Bob, causing his accidental death (Coppola 11.30). Johnny and Ponyboy, now feeling frightened and without a clue of what to do next for they are well aware that those who take life in Oklahoma face execution on the electric chair, decide to seek the counsel of Dally, who gives them some cash and a loaded gun and asks them to hide inside an abandoned church in Windrixville. While staying there, Pony decides to cut and dye his hair to disguise.
Ponyboy should be in the system. Don’t you think? This is proof that Ponyboy should be taken away from Darry and put in the system. He would be better off in the system. Darry has shown he’s not a responsible guardian because Ponyboy is not taken care of. In the book Ponyboy gets into trouble as he’s living with Darry that can get him killed. Something he does is he sneaks into a movie theater. Some people would say he’s better of with DArry, but he would be better off in the system. Ponyboy should be put in the system because he won’t go to jail or get diabetes.

Later in the day Trevor and Rayray (the class bullies) start thinking if Jesus boy really is Jesus so they ask him some questions but he doesn’t answer any of them. A couple of days later Frannie goes to the local rec center with her brother Sean, at the rec center she sees Jesus boy and they start to bond but then two girls just interrupt the conversation. On the next day Frannie stayed inside because it was Saturday and it was way colder than most other days, Frannie’s grandma enters the apartment and Frannie starts telling her about Jesus boy
In the town of Windrixville on top of Jay Mountain, a unknown source ignited a fire inside the old abandoned church. The sudden fire would have ended the life of four- five children around the age of eight years old if Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade had not been brave enough rescue them. This story began with a spontaneous class field trip to Jay Mountain. The teacher claims she instructed the children to not wander into the abandoned church, but the children disregarded her instructions. As a result, when the church ignited in flames the few children that disobeyed the teacher were trapped. Following the church bursting in flames, the teachers counted the children and at that point they knew the missing children had to have been in the church.
