Supposedly, pool table cushions should last up to 25 years maximum, however, this is not always the case. Sometimes, depending on the usage, it might only last up to five or ten years. Clearly, the lifespan of your pool table cushion varies on use as well as maintenance. For those who use it occasionally, it might approximately last up to 20 years. But pool tables used frequently—especially in bars and other commercial establishments—have higher tendencies for the cushion to wear out quickly. If the rails of your pool table are screwed, unscrew them and pull up and out the rails until they pop off. Second, apply adhesive to both the wood and the cushion. Set it aside for at least 10 minutes or until it gets tacky, for better results, then apply the cushion. Be sure to align the top of the cushion with the top of the wood rail. Third, trim the cushion to the size of the table. You may use a straight edge to mark the cutting lines so as to be sure that you will achieve your desired cut, or you may also use the existing angle from the wood rail as a guide. It does not have to be exact, but it should be as close and as neat as possible. Lastly, apply rubber facings—this will also help in filling in small imperfections in the cushion. Use adhesive to apply rubber facings to each ends of the cushion. Trim the excesses using a razor knife or any available material available at hand.
