From the 18th century, the industry of the world was started. It brought many benefits; however, it caused global warming. Global Warming is a serious issue in the world community nowadays. “In Britain, where the Industrial Revolution began, Industrial output increased some fiftyfold between 1750 and 1900” (Strayer, 740). As the start of the Industrial Revolution, the economy of the world also improved. It helped to created many different jobs for human, to improve the lives of them, and to bring people closer to the technology. Because of these changes, it brought many bad phenomena for all humanity in the world today. “If the Industrial Revolution was initially a Western European phenomenon generally, it clearly began in Britain in particular” (Strayer, 744). As the Strayer states, the Britain is the place that started the industry, and it will be the place that get the most effect with the world’s pollution. Additionally, as the development of economy, there are many countries around the world got involved in the revolution. “The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which includes more than 1,300 scientists from the United States and other countries, forecasts a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century” (Global Climate Change). The warming of the earth has a negatively impact on earth’s living system, the mankind, and the environment. The pollution of water and air affects the development of all mankind. “Romantic poets such as William Blake and William Wordsworth inveighed against the “dark satanic mills” of industrial England and nostalgically urged a return to the “green and pleasant land” of an earlier time” (Strayer, 739). At the time that these two poets mentioned above, there are many people who also want to stop the development of the technology industry, and tried to solve the solutions of the global warming. However, there are also many people that do not care about the warming of the world. Global warming is a process of change in weather or climate, which may be caused by human or natural causes. The specific manifestations that we still hear are the phenomenon of global warming, greenhouse effect, and ice melting phenomenon. Today, people
