I believe that this is true. Especially when it comes to my job. I have worked in the child care field for over twenty years and with all age groups. Although I have worked with a variety of age groups ( from infants to pre-k) I feel that I much more needed in the pre-k area. I believe that I have the ability to teach a child what he or she needs to know by figuring out how they learn best and go from there. Now days children become so frustrated because it is hard for them to learn something, but the truth of the matter is that they are having such a difficult time because no one takes the time to break down what ever the child needs to learn, in a manner in which he or she can understand. With the age group that I have now, I am not really
Doing field experience at St.Mary’s Preschool has taught me a lot not only about the educational system but about myself as well. I’ve learned over these couple of months that in order to become a wonderful teacher, you have to have an enormous amount of patience and dedication. Teaching isn’t an easy profession and through this experience, my respect for my teachers have grown tremendously. Many students often take their teachers for granted but they don't realize what they do for us.
The place I observed was the Infant Development Program in their preschool program called Stepping Stones Preschool in Lock Haven, PA. I observed in one of their three to five year old preschool programs that is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 11:30am to 2:30pm. This particular classroom had two head teachers; Mrs. Kate and Mrs. Lisa. The teacher call their students Owls this is because their class name is Owls. When they want to get the kids to listen to them or they want to get their attention a teacher will say “Owls Owls Whoo Whoo” and the kids will say “Owls Owls Whoo Whoo”. Another thing the teachers will also refer to the students as friends. In this classroom there was four boys and four girls. I observed two
Saumya Patel is 5 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Sumter County Primary School in the Sumter County School System. Saumya is very intelligent, and is very far ahead of many of the students on his level. He is very independent, and he is very capable of doing many things on his own. Saumya sometimes questions why he sits in a kindergarten classroom with his intelligence. He does not understand why some of his classmates act their age.
I am a student at Florida Atlantic University studying early childhood education. I am enrolled in EEC 3214 class this semester; the class is called designing and implementing a blending curriculum: birth to age eight. I am required to complete a field experience assignment at a preschool. I will observe young children ranging from three to five years old. I assure you that I will keep all information confidential. In addition, I reassure you that I will not share the information collected outside of my course and that no identifying information will be shared. I will respect and follow all the school’s policies and procedures in a professional manner.
I observed in the preschool class for two hours, there were a total of 12 children in the class Most of the kids that are in the preschool class were four years old, but there was one five year old. When I first arrived at the preschool, the kids seemed very shy towards me and they did not seem like they were very sociable. I was a stranger to them, and I would have to guess that all of the children were experiencing a little bit of stranger anxiety. I talked to the teacher about how the children reacted to all “strangers” She said that the children often become very uneasy. As I sat down to observe the children, I noticed one thing right away. The boys in the group were very wild and rambunctious, and the girls seemed to be shy and
According to San Antonio’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, from the 2001-02 to the 2011-12 school years, the number of ELs enrolled in Texas public schools grew by 37.2 percent. About 570,000 San Antonians speak a language other than English at home, and nearly 525,000 (92%) speak Spanish.
Explain how the range of early years settings reflects the scope and purpose of the sector
Several years ago Pennsylvania was only one of nice states that did not invest in a pre-kindergarten program however with the policies and programs for pre-kindergarten programs that are currently in place throughout the state educational communities are beginning to see differences in their students’ academic and reduction in at risk behaviors (Pre-K for PA, 2015). Pre-K Today states in their “Tools for the Campaign” article that due to increased funding by the state of Pennsylvania for pre-school programming and for policies such as the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts there has been a reduction in grade retention and special education placement in elementary school, improvement in standardized test scores, reduction in juvenile crime, and higher
For my second practice observation, I watched an 18-month old boy, who I will be referring to as B. The setting takes place in a classroom where two other children are present, two teachers are there as well, and plus the observers. The room had a dramatic play center because it had a dress-up center and kitchen center. It also had a block center. I observed by watching a 5-minute video from 5:40-5:45 p.m. on January 27th, 2018. B played with a ramp, blocks, bottles, balls, etc. He played with a lot of toys in this short video.
We have a little one in Kinder who qualifies for support in the general ed classroom. I need Katie to work 1-1 with this kiddo until we can get a grip on his behavioral needs.
Early childhood is a crucial stage of life in terms of children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and of their well-being. The growth in children is both rapid and differential. A large proportion of
This essay will investigate and critically evaluate two reading and two writing strategies for the early primary school context. Each strategy will be described providing an understanding of what it is and how it is used in the early years classroom setting. The strengths and limitation of each strategy will be discussed, key consideration teachers need to consider when adopting these in the classroom will also be highlighted. Using curriculum documents the relationship to these will be linked to better understand how they relate to these educational policies. For the teaching of reading the use of modelled reading and shared reading will be explored, linking the curriculum documents of the Australian Curriculum (AC) and the Early Years Learning
Every two weeks in the Pre-K classroom, the theme changes. The theme during the week of February 6th was about occupations. It was the start of a new unit. On February 9th we made maracas and played like musicians. Doing this activity, the children used their large and fine motor skills. At the Pre-K age children are able to hold their marker correctly and color. They also used their social skills. They developed their social skill because they worked in groups of 4 or 5 coloring their paper towel rolls and they talked to one another. Vygotsky stated that children learn from each other. They talked about their colors and what they drew on their paper towel roll. Most of the children knew all of their colors. After they named those colors on
I completely agree with you young children experience developmentally appropriate experience have a better chance to learn and develop. Also, the early developmentally experience is the foundations of the children development. When the teachers use developmentally appropriate materials and activities in the classroom that affect positively all areas of the child. So we can say that developmentally appropriate practice is the tools that should be used in every classroom to ensure the needs of each child are met.
The research article ‘Children under five and digital technologies: implications for early years pedagogy’, has included a long and well written literature review. However, it has not clearly been identified as a literature review in the research article. This can be seen as a disadvantage as it can make the article hard to follow (Bell and Waters, 2014). In addition, the article states that it is based on a research project which was carried out in four European countries that includes England, Luxemburg, Greece and Malta during 2010-2012 (Palaiologou, 2014). In continuation Campbell et al, (2004) argued the importance of a literature review as they believe it helps and gives guidance to the researcher to choose the research methods and get
