I am very interested in participating in the Pre-Med Insight program because it would be very beneficial to me to learn about a former undergraduate student’s journey to medical school and how I can better prepare myself for medical school. I am also curious to what I might experience in medical school. The subject I am most eager to learn about is how minorities, such as myself, can improve medicine and support present and future students of similar backgrounds.
I would like to become a physician because it is a career that is constantly evolving. As a physician, I would be expected to constantly learn new techniques and information to better care for future patients. I would also enjoy interacting with patients and affecting their lives
First of all I would like to be in the healthcare field because I would like to have the ability to help parents keep their children safe.I love children and I hate seeing them when they are sick. I would like to be able to help them live a healthier environment by helping them avoid illnesses and by helping them get over illnesses quickly. I would like to one day find a cure for an illness and save multiple children or
I want to be a Veterinarian because it would be a job that I enjoy and it was a well-paying job. Having this job would be entertaining and exciting, because you will never know what is going to happen and what kind of problem, what kind of animal, and how bad the problem was. The
f I could pick any career it would be a Pediatrician Nurse Practitioner for an Oncologist. Growing up I wanted to be what every other kid wanted to be: doctor, lawyer, princess and the list goes on. As I got into High School I found myself interested in a lot of the medical classes. My freshman year I was in Introduction to Health Science which lead me to join HOSA. I fell in love with the thought of helping others. My junior year I was involved in a clinical rotation where one hour a day I would go to the hospital and sit in on surgeries, comfort patients, do coffee runs and anything else I could get my hands on. Now going into my senior year I am going to have an internship for a Pediatric Oncologist in Rockwall. This is going to help me
I am applying to the Carver College of Medicine because of its commitment to meeting community needs and advancing medicine through research. Growing up in a rural Midwestern community with hundreds of uninsured residents has helped me to understand the importance of meeting community needs. Until 2010, emergency rooms were the primary source of medical care for many uninsured residents; therefore, concerned medical professionals opened the C.A.R.E. Clinic for the uninsured. As a 5 year clinic volunteer, I have witnessed the improvement of the mental and physical health of these hard working uninsured citizens. I also saw the success of medical professionals and community members coming together to solve an important problem. In addition, through organometallic and lupus research I learned the importance of critical questioning, hypothesizing, and analytical thinking. Refining these skills for patient diagnosis and medical advancement is essential to becoming a successful physician. Therefore, I believe the strong Medical Student Research program will give me this opportunity. I would be honored to work with physicians such as Dr. Bishop on intestinal diseases, because I have seen how IBD can decrease quality of life. Dr. Wehby’s work on the economics of healthcare is also fascinating to me as an economics major as it
Ms. Dixon shares the vision of ODA and believes BSOM should “strive to be a global leader in diversity research, data driven outcomes, education and programming, to serve and inspire positive change in academic medicine and beyond” (ECU, 2017c, para. 2). One way Ms. Dixon intends to accomplish this is through outreach initiatives. Specifically, one program ODA currently employs is connecting with Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These programs are subdivisions of the Student National Medical Association (mentioned previously). The goal of connecting with MAPS is to assist in recruiting minority students to BSOM who have an interest in pursuing a medical degree.
So many that it can be hard to choose one specific profession. But ultrasound stands out from the rest. When I say to someone that I am going into the healthcare field they assume I want to be a nurse or pre-med. So it’s always great to see how shocked they are when I say Ultrasound. It is just not the normal response and it motivates me to be a part of something that isn’t as well known and make it well known. Also I want to be able help someone find a diagnosis. I want to be the key to helping give people answers. It also lets me be independent and make my own judgements. I will get to use my creativity and see something new everyday. Most importantly I’ll get to interact with my patients and work one on one with them giving them personal care. There are so many different options and sub-specialites that go with ultrasound that I would be able to continue to learn and expand my knowledge. One of the greatest things about Ultrasound is I would be able to obtain employment anywhere in the world. I would love to travel and see knew places and culture and ultrasound is a profession that will allow me to do that. Ultrasound will challenge me daily and help me improve myself so I can improve the care I give to others. Science/technology is know as being the mystery of life and for me to be able to use it daily to help people is amazing. Ultrasound comes with many good qualities, but there are always bad qualities. Accepting that
The career I choose to become when I’m older is a pediatrician. I choose this career because when I was in the second grade our teacher was teaching a lesson on what you want to be when you 're older. I had no clue but I always wanted to help someone or something in needed like for example a vet or doctor.
In case any of you did not receive my email, the Pre-Med Club will be attending the MEDLife conference at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Feb. 27th at 10am until 3pm. The conference is a great networking opportunity where physicians, medical students, and pre-medical students alike will be discussing the issues of global and local health disparities. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity (and see what is ranked the 8th best hospital and medical college in the United States), you must register BEFORE HAND. As future physicians, it is important to take initiative and personal interest in the medical field as a whole, not simply just "getting into medical school." It is opportunities like this that will build on your knowledge
I want to be a nurse practitioner because I really like helping elderly and anyone really. Nurse practitioners get a lot of money. Nurse practitioners help a lot by drawing and giving blood.
I enjoy taking care of other people and making them feel better, especially children, therefore my goal is to become a pediatrician. I've chosen pediatrics for a number of reasons, one reason is saving a child's life, or just generally making them feel better, would be an accomplishment to me. CNA is very closely related to pediatrics, some children will not be able to take care of themselves and CNA will prepare me for that.
The career that i am choosing is a pediatrician doctor. I am following this career because I enjoy spending time with little children. I also have been wanting to become a doctor since I was little. After my little sister was born I choose that being a pediatrician would be my ideal job. That is why I want to be a pediatrician doctor.
In this program, I hope to gain more insight and experience into the medical field and what will eventually be expected of me. Through this program, I plan on learning about different types of medicine and the different ways doctors approach situations. I also hope to learn about the different reasons the mentors/doctors went into medicine. This program will impact my future plans and goals by allowing me to learn about different subjects and gain experience in the medical field.
The person who could benefit from instruction on body mechanics is Bianca from my new student experience class. Her major is Pre-med and Biology, yet she mentioned that she might transfer over to nursing eventually. Bianca could benefit from instruction because she has poor posture. The poor posture that Bianca has is rounded shoulders. The reason for this issue is because she has always slouched over in the library studying to try and get into Pre-med and Biology classes in high school. Also, she was in a car crash on June 30th that caused her spine to shift. For treatment, as of now, Bianca goes to a chiropractor to get her back realigned because she suspects that she may have a case of the beginning stages of scoliosis. Bianca informed me
There are about 701,200 doctors in the United States. And I could be one of them. They treat people when they are sick or hurt. They give advice to patients to help keep them from getting sick. They bandage knees, prescribe medicine, sew up cuts. They bring new babies into the world and comfort older people who are sick or dying. And what made me go into this career was that I always wanted to do something in medicine. And I thought that why not become a M.D. And medicine is something I love to do.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending
