Before seizing evidence you should evaluate the crime scene to ensure safety. You might not be safe because you have no idea of the motives of the person behind the crime. The suspects may be armed and at the scene waiting. Once the scene is clear, escort people from the crime scene to evaluate. Mark the perimeter of the scene with crime-scene tape and post a guard if that is appropriate. You should evaluate the search warrant so that you only seize what has been stated. While doing that you should document what you see and what you plan to take. Some investigators "jot down notes" digitally, by recording themselves talking in to a digital voice recorder. Next, using a digital camera, document the scene by taking photos of:
-The overall scene, 360-degree coverage if possible
-The condition and location of each computer system
-The front, sides, and back of each computer, including cables
-Monitors (active screens may require video recording)
-The position of all computer components, mice, cables, and so on
-The state of on/off switches and any LEDs or other status indicators
-To Pull the Plug or Not
After taking pictures the next step would be pulling the power cable from the computer. The advantages of pulling the power cable include:

-Temporary word-processing and other interim files remain on the hard drive, whereas they might get deleted if the software applications shut down more gracefully. (Microsoft Office and other software applications write temporary files to the hard drive as the user works on documents. The files get deleted when the application is shut down in the normal
How must it be to live in a criminal mind? How must it be to completely loose the sense of normality? I heartily believe that Forensic Psychology holds the key which opens an entire world of psychopathologies, mental deformities, twisted thoughts and repressed needs of bestiality. Besides letting you sink into the most dangerous minds, it gives you the armament to combat everything hiding in there- knowledge.
Law enforcement agencies have relied on forensic art as one of their investigation methods for many years. The job of a forensic artist is quite difficult because he or she must reconstruct an image of an individual based on just hearsay and memory from another individual. The purpose of this study is to research forensic artists, also known as sketch artists, and their ability to draw up a suspect through the information provided by a witness. Interviews on two different forensic artists provide insight of the duties and hardships a law enforcement sketch artist takes on. The process of how law enforcement sketch artists are able to recreate the face of another individual, and how that picture can be a very useful piece of evidence for crime reports will also be addressed throughout the study. This study is relevant to anthropology because it touches on how how an individual perceives those around them and forensics itself is also one of the key topics discussed in biological anthropology.
Why is it important to secure the crime scene? What do you think would be the most difficult part of doing this?
Forensic Science has contributed to our world a great deal. People often misunderstand Forensic Science and believe it is much more capable than it really is. As a matter of fact what you see on T.V. is around 80% false or over exaggerated in some way. To Start of, Criminal Investigation is the largest and most known form of Forensic Science. Some of the more known areas include; Fingerprinting, Ballistics, DNA Identification, Fiber Samples, Computer Animation, Documentation analysis, etc. To get this out of the way in the beginning, what you saw on last night’s law and order is far from the truth. Things they do in a matter of hours take months at a time, and most of the time aren’t even plausible concepts.
Then the lead officer will need to determine the boundaries of the scene starting at the central point and extending outward, safeguarding the crime scene with yellow police tape noting possible paths of entry and exits of suspects and witnesses. It's better to close off a larger area at first and then make smaller if needed. The precautions that are taken are very important to safeguarding evidence and minimizing contamination.
The Insanity defense is mentioned as confusing to the psychiatric and legal concept. Furthermore, it is explained that the word “insane” is more of a legal word, then a medical term, and therefor to prove a person or a criminal insane, one must find the mental condition, of a criminal, severely impaired to the point of losing one’s free will. A psychiatrist may be or may not able to determine such illness, and a jury’s decision solely based on a psychiatrists’ opinion may be grounded on unreliable evidence. 1). Forensic Psychology is the application of the theories of psychology to law and the legal system. Issues of violence and its impact on individuals and/or groups delineate the main and central concerns in Forensics within the adult, juvenile, civil, and family domains. Forensic psychologists provide advice to legislators, judges, correctional officers, lawyers, and the police. They are called upon, for example, to serve as an expert witness, diagnose and treat incarcerated and probationed offenders, and screen and evaluate personnel in the law enforcement and judicial systems. Forensics encompasses a wide range of academic orientation. Synonyms for Forensic psychologists include criminal psychologist,
Crime Scene Technician What interests you most about this career? This career interests me because I have worked the medical side of emergency calls and helping people out of tough predicaments. I think it will be fascinating to figure out who committed the crime based on figuring out what went on at the scene of the crime and gathering data like pictures and fingerprints and so on.
When a crime is committed against another person, then justice must be served to those who committed the crime. In some cases the crimes involve sexual attacks on grown adults while some offenses are against minors. In these examples the underling connection is the committed crimes of sexual abuse or sexual assault on adults and minors. When these crimes are brought before the justice system they are processed and the convicted are given a sentence to carry out but sometimes those sentences may not provide efficient time to produce the required outcome of correcting the individual or may be determined that there is no fixing the convicted disorder. They have to make sure that before they entered the crime scene, nothing in the scene should have been moved. While they are going through a walk-through, they may have to construct theories about what happened in the crime scene based on visual examination. Investigators have to take photographs of the scene and will later on be collected. Taking photographs of the scene will help them solve the crime because there are some points of the investigation that investigators may have overlooked evidence, and that evidence could be found in the photographs. After taking photographs of the scene, they will start to collect clue and evidence that may lead them to their possible suspect(s). What they may find in the crime scene are fingerprints which can be done using colored powder and a brush, other thizngs such as blood, firearms, hair, glass and many more things that can be found in the crime scenes.

When you look at a scene you need the right equipment with you. If you don’t have the right and you have bad equipment nothing would help you figure out what happened. When you find thumbprints you need napkins, black and white films, brushes, lift tape, and etc. For every little part of the evidence you need the right equipment for everything. You need to always bring a notebook with you so you can write down the evidence you find. Having good equipment is really important.

Crime scene analysis profiling process (CIA) is the analytical process of interpreting crime scene characteristics and establishing assessments to help develop a criminal profile (Turvey, 2011). The FBI have developed a six-stage crime analysis profiling process when assisting other law enforcement agencies on their investigation. To establish a synopsis of the crime, an investigator must first gather the facts. The first stage of CIA is called profiling inputs. It is the collection of information related to the case.
Crime scene preservation should be the most important step to any first responder. This protocol should continue to be followed by anyone who processes the scene. From the moment the first responder arrives at the scene, he/she should exercise a pertinacious attitude to insure that curious onlookers and personnel who are not involved in a task related to the scene, remain outside the cordoned
