Living up to the Declaration
The United States is known as the land of the free,but has it always been like this?Was slavery erased from history? All The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4th 1776 and the colonies gained independence, many people settled in the 13 colonies to start a new life and own land, yet others were forced to settle in the America’s,not everyone has always been treated equally in the the land of the “free”. America has had pros and cons throughout its history and has risen o become one of the most successful nations in the world with its form of government,but Americans haven't always lived up to the Declaration of Independence, the United States gives opportunities to students who can't afford an education and anyone above the age 18 is allowed to vote, yet it hasn't always been like this,Americans haven't always live up to Declaration of Independence and even now this is put in doubt with the current events.

The Declaration of Independence was written on a strong foundation of structuring the nation that we live in, securing a certain number of inalienable rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Perhaps what the authors had in mind was to personally interfere with people’s lives to secure these inalienable rights, but that has certainly changed in our society based on economic, political, and social changes. The government should protect these rights for the people because we have thrived as a nation because of feelings of security, prosperity, and nationalism. In 1776, the Continental congress elected that Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston help write what many now know today to be The Declaration of Independence. The whole point of this document being written was to declare to Great Britain and King George III that the British colonies in North America would no longer be a part of Great Britain, but rather of their own free states, thus creating the United States of America and declaring independence from Great Britain. On June of 1776, the Declaration of Independence was born. Drawn up by Thomas Jefferson and based on the works of John Locke, the general purpose of the document was to clarify that governments have conditional, not absolute authority over the people; that human beings possess natural rights that can’t be taken from them and government is created to protect those rights. The phrases “unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and “all men are created equal” were the main theme of the social contract written for the small colonies of what would be the basis of the United States of America to declare independence from Great Britain and its tyrannical king. However, “unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and “all men are created equal” did not apply to African Americans, enslaved or free for the coming years.
There is no such thing as an ideal government. Every form of government has its flaws and strengths. In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed by our founding fathers, which declared independence from Britain. Thomas Jefferson, the founding father who wrote the declaration, had a set point of view of government and wanted to perfect it as much as possible. It was not all about government and its power to him. Jefferson believed that the people had rights over the government and that having a form of government was a necessity to prevent tyranny.

In most cases for those countries that have become newly independent, it can be seen as protocol to create a document that declares independence and thus when the “revolution” is successful then it is time to create a constitution. A constitution is needed in order to secure those rights that have been fought for and stated in the declaration, “the Declaration of Independence was the promise; the Constitution was the fulfillment” (n.d.). In order to preserve and secure those fundamental rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness stated in the declaration the newly independent colonies drafted the constitution which focused on how the government should function and later adding the bill of rights in order to protect and guarantee individual rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, assembly, bear arms, unreasonable searches, among other. Nonetheless what it is contradictory is the statement that “all men are created equal” in the declaration, but it seemed it only applied to white males due to slavery not being abolished nor any rights given or specified for women.

Democracy is known as a system of government when all eligible people of a state can voice their own opinions as well as elect representatives. Democracy is not once mentioned in The Declaration of Independence. Pros of a democracy are, its by the people and for the people. Democracy is meant for everybody to be eligible to vote and they are able to vote. The people are also able to participate in what they think, feel , and voice about the political, social, and economic issues that are presented to them. It's in the people's best interest not just the governments. The goal is to find solutions with decision-makers best interest. The main goal is to is find solutions that are best for the people and regulate conflicts between states and government. A democracy imposes equality, the people's votes carry the same weight, which makes all individuals to be heard and make them feel as if their opinion is important. Our people today in the united states are holding up the principles of the Declaration of Independence good,but they could improve. Everyone is still treated equal, they haven't taken our rights away, the people help the government to protect their rights and make decisions if the government is not cooperating,and they even still let you have the freedom of speech .But they do judge people on their religion and where they were born and who they are, like they do to muslims.
I was asked if the United States is upholding the principles of the Declaration of Independence. In my opinion they have not been very successful at all. I think this because our government sometimes doesn’t treat everyone equally. As it is stated in the Declaration of Independence “All men are created equally”, yet not always are they treated equally. People built America on the foundation so people could achieve their own specific dream. It would be alright except for the fact that we have to pay extra taxes so people on welfare can have the money which isn’t fair because the people that get up everyday and work are not exactly being treated equally. People that don’t have to work will never understand what it is like to have to pay extra
The heaven inspired Declaration of Independence laid out the enduring principle that governments are the divinely appointed means by which the people’s God given rights are preserved, and that Great Britain had been trampling the rights of the colonies rather than protecting them. When these courageous men of action assembled to architect a new government, they prayerfully endeavored to forge a form of governance that would be successful in protecting and defending human rights, and providing true liberty and equitable justice for all. From 1815 to 1850 America’s economic system is booming and there are more and more immigrants coming to america looking for land and jobs. There were also lots of social reform movements leading to people going back to god and being more religious so more people were fighting for rights. The U.S. did not fulfill the ideals of the Declaration of Independence for all people by 1850 because woman and immigrants did not all have the same political and economic rights.
The English Colonies was a hard place to live in with the Sugar Act, the Stamp act, and the monarchy trying to rule our every move . England was trying to pay for all their previous debts in other wars and took it out on the colonist. The English Colonies decided to revolt against England and won their independence, this war was known as the American Revolution. The United States was starting to look like a place where people would want to live, because there was no monarchy and a government that all white men can vote on. After the United States established independence the government ruled under the Articles of Confederation, and this was better than being ruled by England but was not what everyone thought it would be. Then after work and thought by the country leaders we now live under the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. There have been had rough times for the people of the United States and still is more to come.
The state of America I believe has upheld the principles of the Declaration of Independence. We do not depend on England. We don’t have a parliamentary form of government. There is no duty that we hold for the King or Queen of England. They no longer impose taxes on us. We can manage trade anywhere in the world. The King can no longer rule America, or cause severe and extensive damage to our towns, and the lives of the people who live.
