Have you ever seen the animated movie Wall-e? I saw this film when I was a kid and would recommend it to any of your little cousins or siblings. The movie is created by Pixar and shows the last of a series of little robots that were designed to clean up Earth (now deserted and basically one big junk pile). Humanity was out in space on massive ships, growing unhealthier as the days went on. Eventually, humanity returns to Earth and starts to rebuild. This is a very miserable and dystopian future that I’m sure none of us would like to see in our lifetimes. Nor for any of our future generations to see in theirs. You may be wondering if we’re already on the road to such a future right now. We are. Yet there is a simple solution to this issue that not enough of us are already practicing today. Recycling. To start there is one law that should be enacted immediately. U.S. citizens should be required to recycle.
If you are unsure as to why the US should have mandatory recycling, just look to a future without it. This future would be at the very least, dreary and doomed. Garbage in the gutters, spills on the streets, and filth on the freeways. There would probably be little to no life other than humans and even then, Humanity’s days would be numbered. Do you really want to live in a world without a solid amount of plants and animals to provide air and food for us? Each human ends up making about 4 lbs of trash each day. There’s around 7 billion people on Earth; if everyone puts their waste in the garbage, they would create 31 BILLION pounds of waste in landfills across the globe every single day (“What if everyone stopped recycling). That is an insane number! We can’t let that amount of trash exist if we wish to have any sort of positive future.
Consequently, take a gander at what an Earth would look like with recycling. There would be less Greenhouse gases from the production of new materials. People could have visit an even greater amount of wildlife now that their habitats’ destruction is slowed. They might even gain some back and their habitats could expand! If every person just recycled one can of pop or tea every day, we could save the energy equivalent of 80,000 barrels of oil and reduce the harmful greenhouse
If everyone were to just stop recycling no one would really see a change in their regular days and people would think it would all seem the same and it doesn't affect them. However, the environment we live in effects everyone and as stated by Marck Recycling each person regularly generates 4.38 pounds of waste per day which would all go to trash if you weren't recycling so it would multiply by 7.125 billion people on earth and we would end up with 31.2 billion pounds of waste in landfills every single day. It would also have an impact on how we manufacture resources since we do have a certain amount of natural resources. Many people may think well we can plant more trees to create more resources however, cutting trees down is quicker than a tree growing. So overall, not recycling would have a negative impact in how we get and create resources but also landfills and
Recycling is a very essential and crucial process in our world today. The term recycling means that waste can be converted into new products instead of being discarded. As the population continues to grow, humans are using more and more products. In order to reduce the amount of waste on planet Earth, and to preserve its resources, recycling is significant. Not only does recycling allow the environment to thrive, but it also allows living people to thrive as well. There are many materials that can be recycled. Plastics, electronics, aluminum, food and glass are only but a few products that can be recycled. Recycling can benefit our environment in numerous amount of ways. However, without recycling, negative impacts on our environment can occur. Some of these effects include pollution whether it is air, land or sea, depletion of natural resources and even an increase threat to global warming. Therefore, recycling is extremely important to sustain our environment.
For example, more than 80% of the oceans surfaces are covered in trash or polluted. Therefore, if we continue to throw trash away, many of our natural resources will be gone before our eyes. We are responsible for this planet so we should start treating it better. Not only would it help the planet but also it would protect our wildlife. One big result of not recycling is the Great Barrier Reef. Recently the Great Barrier Reef has been in its worst condition as possible. There has been tons of trash surfacing the water, the wild life as starting to die out because of it and the list continues. But thankfully, there are people out there that are trying to save it from becoming nothing but a polluted ocean. Another reason why we should recycle is it creates more jobs more people. An estimated 1.56 billion people in the US are currently homeless. Why not help them out and the environment by hiring more people for recycling related jobs. It would not only help the environment but it would help people in need for
Over the years, recycling has been apart of the american community, but recycling has been costly and has been causing more pollution to the united states than recycling it self. I think that the recycling in the united states should be abolished because, the pollution produced by the collection trucks and the recycling process itself creates more emissions and it’s more expensive and takes more energy and water to recycle old paper than to cut down and process pine trees and then plant pine seedlings.
We have all heard the saying reduce, reuse, and recycle from a very young age. But let’s face it, how many of us recycle? The world we live in is slowly filling up with the trash that we throw out every day. One day who knows, we might be living in our own trash and everywhere we look there will be trash. Is this a world where we all want to live in? If not, we need to take steps to prevent the buildup of trash in our landfills and even our oceans. Therefore, recycling needs to be encouraged because it reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, prevents pollution, conserves natural resources, and creates jobs.
Recycling has become "mandatory" in many states and towns. Landlords can fine a resident for not following the rules of recycling. It was made official awhile back that certain things should not be sent to our landfills, such as paint cans, car parts, and any kind of hazardous materials. Americans are already recycling at a high rate.
Looking down the street you live on, do you notice something lacking? Well, for most of America this seems to ring true. Recycling is a process that is very important for the environment, yet much of the country still does not have mandatory recycling or, at the least, an easier way to recycle. No, most perfectly recyclable materials are sent straight to the landfill. Why exactly is this, anyway? Is it the government’s fault, or the people’s?
Recycling is an important part of keeping this planet sustainable so our future generations can live on it. Many people are familiar with reprocessing paper and plastic materials, but there are countless others that can also be used. Our landfills are also filling up because too many people throw away these recyclable items that can easily be reused. Almost anyone has the ability to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but it is not always easily accessible which is why many people do not. Although there are some negatives to doing this, recycling is the best option we have when dealing with this problem. Too many non-decomposable items are being thrown away and it is harming the planet. The United States should make recycling mandatory in every state
Americans make more than 200 million tons of garbage each year, enough to fill Busch Stadium from top to bottom twice a day, that’s over 1800 feet! according to Ballparks. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it says Do Something. With the invention of the virtually indestructible material well known as plastic, on top of the rapidly evolving technological world, and the extreme reduction of locations where landfills can be built, it’s hard to believe that 75% of the waste stream in America alone is recyclable, and yet only 30% of it is actually recycled. Recycling is a beneficial solution to many of our increasingly important environmental
Recycling helps not only humans but animals as well. Recycling should be important to every human, because of the enormous benefits like stimulating the economy. Recycling also helps animals from becoming injured which could lead to death.
Ironically, everyone knows the benefits of recycling despite the astonishing amount of pollution created yearly in America. America started recycling in 1970 when recycling centers opened and by 2009 America had 9,000 curbside recycling trash programs plus 3,000 composting communities available (Palliser). According to the Janna Palliser, a 2013 study done by the EPA, deduced annually Americans produced 254 million tons of municipal solid waste while the recycled amount is a measly 87 million tons equaling 34.3%. Moreover, America should aspire to raise yearly recycling percentages considerably higher than “34.3 %”; however, the “34.3 %” concludes recycling prevented “186 million metric tons of carbon dioxide” from being expelled into the air
Destruction is a big thing in today's society. People always do stuff to the earth that could lead to a total, global breakdown of civilization. People need to be better about the things they do because the world is coming to an end. The people that recycle help the most and need to get others too.
People Need to Recycle In the United Sates, where the population is inflated every year. The amount of space for landfills decreases every day. The need for recycling should not be asked, it should just be done out of habit. Everyone in America needs to recycle, to help the lamdfill problem, help the environment, and help produce new products from recycled goods. In America there is about two-hundred and eight tons of residential and commercial trash generated a year, 4.3 pounds per person a day (Prichard 1A). This is an overwhelming amount of trashed produced yearly. When people recycle this number can be drastically cut. But many people do not practice and use
Everyone buys things and sooner or later, we will throw it away. Or suppose we eat at Mc Donald's. After we are finished, we throw away our trash and never see or think of it ever again. In our fast passed world that we live in today, there are many people living in it and produce a lot of garbage and waste. The United States alone produces over 200 million tons of Municipal Solid Waste every year. That is equates to about 4.5 pounds of waste per person, per day. According to data from the EPA, about 35% of that is paper, 30% include yard trimmings and food scraps. Over 11% is plastic, 8% is metal, and the remainder contains wood, rubber, glass, and textiles. The main problem that we have is overflow of landfills. On top of this
It is safe to say that the Earth is in trouble. We are polluting now more than ever, and we are using up vital land for one purpose, to pile our trash. This land that is being piled with trash day after day could have been kept in its natural raw state or rather used for a productive purpose rather than a final resting place for the large quantity of garbage that we produce. One simple task that we all can do each and every day to help the Earth is to simply recycle. The phrase Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle is one that is prominent in the world today; However, it is a phrase that holds little to no meaning or action behind it. Living your life by the above said motto in its simplest form would result in a lesser amount of trash being
