Decent Essays

Is nuclear power efficient or inefficient? The controversy between nuclear power on whether it is good or bad has its pros and cons. Nuclear power is a power that is breeded by a nuclear reactor. The power is used for electricity and energy. The nuclear reactor is the soul of the nuclear power plant. Nuclear fission starts the nuclear power. Nuclear fission is when atoms become unstable and create a chain reaction. After the chain reaction happens, steam is produced and goes to a turbine and it later goes to a generator. Accidents, radioactive waste, and nuclear weapons are the three reasons why there should be no nuclear power. At the end of the day, nuclear power is faulty.
The first con is analyzing accidents. They are threatening. Chernobyl is an example of an accident. When Chernobyl occurred, people died, while others were injured severely. Another disaster like Chernobyl is life costing. There is no room to have major disasters to kill innocent people. Marisa Fernandez once said “The Chernobyl accident is the most serious accident in the history of the nuclear industry… led to huge amounts of radioactive materials being released into the environment and a radioactive cloud spreading over much of Europe”. Her quote refines that she is attentive of how dangerous the accident was. She talks about that no other accident was as atrocious as Chernobyl. This standard is a reason why nuclear power cannot happen.
