The Protestant Reformation on Europe is why we had a major impact throughout history. It began in the 1500’s, by a man named Martin Luther because he became to question the Roman Catholic church. His questioning caused for the church to go bankrupt and give people the chance to give their own perspective on the words in the Bible. It had given the people of Europe to separate state from church. European expansion came during the reformation which caused Europe to gain power in issues like racism, political problems and diseases. The Reformation was to end all controversy of the Catholic church and beliefs of the Bible. Martin Luther was a German monk who started the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, this created him into a influential and controversial leader in Christian history. Luther decided to question Catholicism, while in the process on his movement on confrontation, his followers also began to separate from the Catholic Church to start the Protestant tradition. Luther’s followers were known as “Protestants” because his movement was so mainly focused on protest. Luther had felt a need for people to feel closer to God, he believed he had a duty to translate the Bible into language of the people, causing a major impact on the people whose was relationship between church leaders and their followers. Luther’s 43rd thesis states, “Christians are to be taught that he who gives to the poor or lends to the needy does a better deed than he who buys indulgences.” Furthermore: Luther’s 45th thesis states that: “Christians should be taught, he who sees his neighbor in distress and, nevertheless, buys indulgence is not partaking in the Pope’s pardons, but in the wrath of God.” Luther protested both errors and the social exploitation that they led to.
