When my parents decided to immigrate to the United States, we were seeking for new opportunities at an education. My parents left everything they had in Mexico to get us in a better place. I had a lot of opportunities, but it was difficult seeing my parents struggling day to day to maintain the family. Since then, I proposed to myself to get educated and make a better life for my parents and me. I worked very hard every day to perform well in school, despite I did not spoke English, I studied day to night to get good grades. My motivation to do well in school were my parents. High School was the beginning of my journey. I joined Advanced Placement and Honors courses to prepare myself for college. I took AP Physics and AP Calculus as part of my goals to become an engineer. I began taking those courses to get a better understanding of math and science. By the time I was in high school my goals were to not only receive A’s in all of my math and science courses, but most importantly, to have a well and extensive understanding of the material. I wanted to leave the class every day and be able to apply everything I learned in all my courses, especially math and science, to the real
Every human being on this earth has had different predicaments that have occurred in their life. All in which, have modified their perspective on ideas, future decisions, or past experiences. The lessons that life throws at you teaches you who you are and reminds you where you come from. My experiences have taught me to enjoy the advantages I have in life and to establish my dreams because my parents immigrated here from Mexico earning their residency, just so my siblings and I can have a chance at a good life. Since my parents gave me a chance to dream and make it real than that’s what i will do.
My parents came from Mexico to the United States for a better life, like many other families. My parents were not privileged enough to make it past a middle school education. They worked very hard so that my siblings and I could succeed in America. Therefore, I felt bad whenever I asked for help on homework because what if they couldn’t help me? I never wanted to make them feel bad for not knowing English. Instead I struggled through it on my own because I was going to be the one they could depend on, later in life due to my education. Instead of letting my parents go through the struggle, I did everything on my own. I struggled so that they could later depend on me.
I was told, at the age of thirteen, that the U.S. was the land of opportunities. My parents came here from Peru, so we could pursue the American dream. Despite the challenges encountered, while incorporating into a new society, my parents constantly encouraged me to overcome any difficulties. They taught me the value of hard work, which is necessary to achieve my goals. Watching my parents work long hours in menial labor jobs for the past 11 years, has inspired me to strive for a professional education.
My parents moved to the United States when I was a toddler. They had to leave their country because of economic instabilities. They came here to seek opportunities that they could not in Ecuador. They proved to me that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. My ambition in academics is a way of proving to my family that I can accomplish my goals.
Belding High School helped to prepare me for the next step by pushing how important my grades were at the beginning of freshman year. I always hear friends say, “I really wish I would have listened and worked harder freshman year.” The talks about how your grade point average gets harder and harder to move up really made me focus
One of the reasons why my parents decided to come to the United States was so that I and my three siblings could have a better future. Also so we could have more education than my parents had to have a better chance in life and better job opportunities. I admire my parents so much because I have witness every single struggle they have been through trying to give us the best and also because they are humble and strong as a family. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to go to college is because I strive to

High school course work has assisted my plans to secure a post-high school education by teaching me responsibility, and a good work ethic. Throughout high school, I took classes that would help me get a basic understanding of what my college courses would be like. For example,
At the time, I could not speak nor did I understand English, thus my very first goal after I arrived was to learn the language. Even at a young age, I knew the importance of setting goals for myself, especially if I wanted to succeed here in the land of opportunity. Once I started school, setting goals became even more useful, and I was able to achieve academically early on.

After two years of working towards my Masters of Education and reaching the program’s end, I knew that I was not ready to stop engaging in productive discussions and absorbing innovative ideas to make my classroom an enlightened learning environment for all students. After studying how to teach students who are English Language Learners, I grew to develop my pedagogical ideas for how to create a suitable program to meet the needs of all learners and not just ELL students. However, I also knew that I wanted to share my philosophies on a larger platform, not only in my classroom or department but also school and district-wide. Therefore, it is my sincere desire to continue my educational journey by applying for the Doctoral Degree in Education
“Achieving a goal is nothing. The getting there is everything” (Jules Michelet ) and it could not be more true. As my high school career slowly comes to an end, I have started to realize that I must take the next big step in my life which is furthering my education and one day having a family of my own. During all my 13 years of school, I have specifically made sure to try my absolute best in school. And yes, even though high school classes are more difficult, that has not stopped me from working hard towards good grades. Science has been one of the most difficult sections of classes I’ve had. I find it intriguing, but it has been a challenge to learn it. Yet, I did not quit, and I managed to achieve decent grades.
After I earn my GED, my plan is to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Once I’ve earned my degree, I intend to ultimately become an elementary school teacher at R.B.
