Many factors will be considered in qualifying for the National Honors Society. Being accepted into the National Honor Society is an honor that is not bestowed upon everyone. Only the students who are most fit will be approved. Having this opportunity to get the chance to prove myself and hopefully be accepted is already rewarding. Some characteristics that can possibly heighten one’s likelihood of being accepted include being responsible, social, and intelligent. The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. As I mentioned before during my high school Junior and Senior years I was a member of the National Honors Society, in order to be invited certain requirements had to be meet by a student. Requirements such as a certain GPA, 3 teacher recommendation, essays and community involvement etc. luckily I meant those requirements and I was inducted into the Society. During my time with the Society I had the opportunity to be involved with many activities around the school and outside as well. One of our first activities at the Greensboro Interactive Resource Center where we helped out by painting benches, organize donated clothes and heling out with the outside garden. The National Honor Society has very specific goals they would like to achieve. These include creating excitement for academia, stimulating a desire for citizen service, building leadership skills, and developing character in students. These goals seem overwhelming at first, but upon deeper thought I discovered I possess many traits to help achieve these goals.
The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes students who exhibit academic excellence, as well as students who display a variety of honorable traits which include upstanding character, leadership, and a willingness to serve. Being a part of the National Honor Society means that a person encompasses all of these qualities, as many of those characteristics complement each other. A person with upstanding character most likely has a passion for serving and also has the determination to succeed in an honest manner. Without one of these qualities, I wouldn’t be able to ensure that I possess the characteristics that the National Honor Society requires of its members.

There are four requirements in order to be inducted into National Honor Society. One of the qualifications that fall underneath scholarship is the fact that I have G.P.A that is above 3.5. Another qualification is leadership. One of my leadership skills is that fact that I am able to carry out positive attitude throughout the school day and I am able to fulfill any task that is given upon me. I can be shown as responsible because I am able to complete most of my volunteer hours instead of waiting until my senior year.
