There are not many people in the United States that claim to be racist. When it comes to the question of race, most people believe that they are colorblind. However, it is a fact that race and racism are inescapable parts of the country`s cultural heritage and social history. The issues that surround the definition of race and racism, are the product of a long and controversial history of diverse American society. It is believed by many that race is a natural category, reflecting biological differences within people (Wright & Rogers, 2011). Race is generally concentrated on the visible, physical differences between people. Unfortunately, this belief allows for a lot of misconstruing about the exact nature of racial classifications.
