Over the centuries, slavery held a prominent factor in United States history. Slavery shaped and formed what society was in the United States. Slavery’s influence impacted the United States in various ways. The ways that slavery impacted United States history are the United States economy, society and politics. Some historians argue slavery is not an important factor in United States history. Every since the start of slavery, in 1619 and all the way up until now 2016, people have been socially, religiously, and sexually profiled by their race. It could be something just as simple as where they come from, how they talk, their beliefs, or the color of their skin. We all are very aware of the history of slavery and how things went on in that time. I was far more horrific and blood-curdling back then. Unlike today protesting, rallying, and fight back was not an option back then, of course some stood up for what they believed in those were the boldest. Those who dared to challenge the authorities were the bravest, those who sat back at waited for a change were the patient.

For centuries, the African-American race has dealt with the brutal, inhumane act of supremacy upheld by whites through slavery. It has rewarded whites with free labor and wealth and as a result, whites use their power to keep slavery flourishing and leave slaves pauperized. Viewing slavery as “good” for slaves is, in every way, unethical and greatly affects one race more than the other.

After the American Revolution, slavery and discussion on whether it should be implemented or illegal dominated the development of the United States. Without slavery, it would not have happened only because there was continuous bickering back and forth. Slavery in America presented many different horrifying events that enfolded during what is considered one of the worst times in human history. Slavery in the United States was not uncommon in the sixteen hundreds. In fact, slavery was tremendously prevalent among plantation owners. Slaves consisted of countless races of people who were captured and forced to work, but a majority of those slaves were enslaved Africans. Many slaves came to the United States from Africa especially during the Transatlantic Slave Trade between Britain, Africa and the Americas.

Many people, including myself until now may think that slavery and racism began with African Americans when in all reality slavery began with the Native Americans. It first began with Christopher Columbus and the Arawak Native Americans .When Christopher Columbus found the land and learned that the Arawak’s could do agriculture and even had the gold he was looking for in their jewelry so he took them captive on his ship. “Are so naïve and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it”. He kidnapped them to work for free as his slaves to find his gold he was searching for. Why are people so quick to judge? For so many years now, the end of slavery has been demolished. But so many people are still stuck on the past. Many people look at African Americans as people who steal, rob, and start trouble. Yes, there are quite a few who has been known to do those things, but they are not the only ones who do it. Why do so many of us judge them so quick? When kids are born, they are not born racist. Lots of children grow up in homes that support racism. Not only that, society can influence a lot of people.

For many years, slavery was being practiced as a legal delegation. Viewed as a punishment, this enslaved class mainly consisted of prisoners of war and criminals. However, in the midst of colonization, the ideology of slavery would endure a massive transformation. Competing for new land, empire building colonies had a growing need for labor. Due to these circumstances, the concept of racial slavery was born. Enforced by new laws supported by powerful colonies, Africans fell victims to the transformation of slavery, and unwillingly found themselves in a new world.
