After I graduate high school I would like to go to college to study Radiologic Science. It would be ideal for me to stay in Missouri to do that so my “dream college” that I would like to attend the most would be Mizzou. Mizzou is known for its School of Medicine and has a very good ranking against other schools. There are a lot of different classes to choose from so a student could choose to get a broader understanding of the field or focus on a certain part of it. There program also teaches the students social skills, how to communicate with students, and make proper observations. I could apply to the Radiology program my Sophomore year at Mizzou after I finish all of my prerequisite classes. For me to get accepted into Mizzou, my best option
Being able to identify lumps, swelling, tissue damage, cysts, and the overwhelming news of the sex of a baby all have something in common, an ultrasound. Swelling of the spleen, kidney stones, blood clots, aneurysms, cancer and so much more can be identified through the works of an ultrasound’s imaging technique. Ultrasound involves many concepts, procedures, and careers. The amount of medical possibilities involved with ultrasounds is useful in major medical diagnostics. The field of ultrasounds and career opportunities are widely growing. As medical careers flourish, needs for technicians in many fields of medicine are increasing. Instead of a doctor choosing complex and risky surgery to find out problems within the body, they can now

Highest Marks on Junior Writing Exam (2016) The Junior Writing Exam is an analytical exercise that gauges the ability of juniors to compellingly analyze a short story or poem. I received the highest possible score on this exam.
As many medical advances as there are today, numerous careers in a medical field have a positive growth in job outlook. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the diagnostic medical sonographer career field is projected to grow 26 percent from 2014 to 2024. Research anticipates this field of study to grow at a much faster pace than the average for all occupations. Resources also indicate that advances in imaging technology will lead medical services to utilize it more in place of costly, invasive procedures and less-expensive equipment, which also means more procedures will be conducted outside hospitals. It was found that in 2014, there were approximately 60,700 individuals employed as a diagnostic medical sonographer. With a 26
Although I was aware that some rad techs were practicing in some states without a license; I was still surprise by this report, which states that the Sunset Advisory Commission recommends eliminating the need licensure for nearly 20 medical occupations. Including the one we are majoring in. In the last couple months, we have learned a substantial amount of information on patient dose, dose limits, proper shielding and the roles we are going to play as technologist as well as our responsibilities and how the choices that we make can either have a positive or negative effects on our patients if we are not careful or if the radiation is mishandled. This being said what I found even more surprisingly is that the Commission is under the assumption that the “deregulation of radiologic technologist” would have minimal consequences on patient safety.
My topic that I am researching is a Radiology Technician. Basically, their job is to help Physicians take x-rays and to help them out with the readings. They also perform cat scans, ultrasounds, and radiation therapy. This article informs the reader of the job duties and occupational specialties. It tells them what they need to be able to do, such as noticing detail and clearly communicating. It also provides them with educational and preparation opportunities. The training is provided and the work environment is in mainly hospitals or, if you are in combat, a mobile field hospital (#10). They need to be physically ready, able and willing to perform their duties. They have to be very alert and vigilant in trying to study and notice the
“because they are not accepting any applicants for the sonography program right now, too full!”
When thinking about pursuing a career path as a diagnostic medical sonographer the first thing a student should think about will be your dedication to learning the trade and commitment to an incumbent of hard work you you will invest in the journey. There are many different technical schools around for this program, but not all are created equal. Foothill College in Los Altos Hills is a CAAHEP accredited program that is recognized by major hospitals and clinics nationwide. CAAHEP (Commision on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) is one of the main reasons students choose this college over the un accredited programs closer to home. Foothill College has a remarkable DMS (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) program even though the prerequisites are lengthy and the entry is extremely competitive, financial hardships, program depth and training being intensive, but the graduation rate and job placement is unbelievable.
The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields of Songraphy.
Radiology Technologist have been around for almost a century. “Radiology Technologist works in various places taking diagnostic imaging examinations for patients, which are x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, and mammography.” (eHow) This job is one of the few in the world that can give the risk of cancer to the rad-techs. And is stilled one of the most needed in the medical field. Radiology Technologist needs to understand computers and what the x-rays show, and how to set up a patient for and x-ray to be taken. Radiology Technologist are one of the highest paid in the medical field. This is because the job has more risk than any other job in the medical field. The radiology technologists have used x-rays for what has almost been in use
A diagnostic medical sonographer utilizes unique imaging machinery to generate images and perform exams. They use ultrasound technology to obtain pictures of tissues and body organs. The career of sonography offers a wide range of specialties from obstetric and gynecologic to neurosonography. Some of the duties of a sonographer include prepare the patients for the procedure and examine the data recorded to give a detailed summary to the physician. Like any other healthcare professional, ultrasound technicians have responsibilities that are listed in the scope of practice (U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014).
Radiology is a career path that can lead to many places other than diagnostic imaging. Once I finish the program for Radiology, I have many aspirations for the future. I intend on completing my bachelors in science and enrolling in courses for CT and MRI certification. My overall goal is to go into Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine in the next five years.

I have always been interested in the medical field because it puts together human tolerance with technology and knowledge. This assists us at our most vulnerable moments. I am interested/ committed to the Radiologic Science because it will allow me to interact with patients and make sure I’m giving them the best care. Radiologic Science is an evolving field that continues to expand. There was one experience in my life that pushed me toward this field. When I was in the 11 grade my aunt was diagnosed with cancer and later died from it. It was shocking to my whole entire family because she was only person in our family that ever had cancer. Many nights I thought about what I could have done to help save her life. But by pursuing this career
