Reasons Why College Is Important To Me

I would like to attend college because I want to be successful in life, I understand it is getting harder to get a job with only a high school diploma and it is sure to get worse. My goals for the future include getting into a college with a good teaching and mathematics program, this could give me a variety of jobs and I was speaking to someone and they told me that people are looking out for women who have a degree in mathematics which will help me to obtain a good paying job.

I am writing to express my interest in the Program Coordinator position at Breakthrough Central Texas. I am interested in this position because I strongly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to attend college and fulfill their dreams, but I also know that the playing field is not leveled for everyone. Everyone has different intentions for going to college, I chose to attend in order to advance and gain new skills, to experience the college life, and discover God’s plan for my life.

It seems that this day and age, college is becoming a very crucial part of today's society. Without college it is very difficult to get a job in a field that you want to be in, but at the same time it is difficult for people without a degree to maintain their job. This is why it is very important for a person to complete college. Hutchinson Community College, like many other colleges, is working to prepare their students for life after they have graduated. Although there are many ways to improve a college to make people want to stay and finish their degree, the college should be aware of the students’ desire to finish the degree before they are accepted.

I have committed myself to pursuing my undergraduate degree because I am completely aware of the importance of education. I am also a proud first generation college student determined to succeed, undeterred by my circumstances as an adolescent. I didn’t have a typical childhood. My mother was an alcoholic who also struggled severely with drug addiction. Unfortunately, her dependence led her into a cycle of domestic violence, jail, and many failed treatment attempts. Her choices preceded her absence for the majority of my life. From my knowledge, she didn’t even attain a high school diploma. My father was always present in my life. He raised my brother and me without the help of a significant other. He always emphasized education so he put me through private schooling.

A significant conflict I have encountered within my mere seventeen years of life is a presumably common one, obtaining an adequate score on my ACT. I realize this conflict seems to affect many students attempting to attend college as I am, but the lengthy process which led me to challenge the ACT has actually impacted me in, I would believe, a positive way. Now the reason I decided to undertake this daunting task was actually due to the fact that I did not score high enough on my SAT, or rather not nearly as high as I desired. Although my score failed to meet my expectation it was not, in statistical terms, a bad score. Though I was aware of such a fact, to me it was not a sufficient reassurance prompting me to acquire a divergent approach.

As Malcolm X once said: “education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” Thus, being in college is my desire since I was a kid. College is my first priority, goal, and target. First, I want to learn and have the enough knowledge as I can. Second, I will discover the diversity of things. Besides that, I will get myself satisfied when I achieve my dream. Then to let my family be proud of me. On the other hand, I am originally from Iraq, and I had raised in Syria. In fact, I had graduated from high school in 2006, but I did not have the chance to continue my education and attend college because of the expensive costs. Furthermore, attending college was my biggest dream ever as I mentioned that before.

My first choice college was the University of Connecticut. But, I was not admitted to the main campus. I then made the choice to attend [current college] over UConn’s Stamford campus.

First of all hello, I’m currently a high school senior planning to attend college in the fall. I remember as a little girl setting my doll babies up in my room and playing pretend school. I had this really big chalk board and plenty of books that I would get from the library.

As time keeps ticking away, I inquired whether if college is the right pick for me in general. My parents expressed to me all my life that I was obligated to go to college regardless of what I did unless I wanted the public to eschew me. I am still sentient with this idea to a degree, but times are altering. I decided to select this college not only of the awareness of others viewing me as an outcast if I do not go to college, but because I wanted to be there.
