Ender is most definitely not like Peter. Because of a few reasons like they work for different command stations and Ender is way nicer than Peter. One reason why this is true is because Peter and Ender are working with two different commanders. Peter is commanding with. And Ender is commanding with Graff and soon became a commander himself. And then Ender has always been nicer than Peter especially to his sister Valentine. Ender views himself as an independent commander and doesn’t need any help from anyone else. In conclusion, Ender is an overall better person than Peter, for the reasons that I have stated.
In this chapter it is it is interesting that Ender is grateful to Peter for teaching him to cry silently. Peter has made Ender into the type of person who can handle a threat and thats all I think he has done to help him . Ender has a talent to be independent which helps him during the games. Ender shows how he can use his intelligence to fight back. This shows how ender is very mature Ender's strategy destroys Bernard's gang, and makes it so that he makes friends(makes friends with shen) without violence (P, CON)
When Ender finds out that he killed a whole race he is angry and says “’I didn’t want to kill anybody! I’m not a killer!”’(297).Throughout his journey Ender thinks that he is a replica of Peter. This is one of the many instances where Ender feels his whole persona is being manipulated into a copy of Peter by leaders at Battle School. Once Ender recognizes that most of his choices have been influenced by commanders such as Colonel Graff he decides to make a decision of his own by finding the buggers a new home.
After his fight with Stilson Ender realizes what he has done and thinks he is “just like Peter” (8). Peter is everything Ender does not want to be. Everything Peter does goes strictly against Enders morals and so when Ender finds that he has done something like Peter would he becomes ashamed. Enders greatest wish is to not be like Peter and he struggles with this for years. After Ender has won the third invasion and he takes to exploring the bugger world they built their colony on he finds a “silken cocoon” of a bugger queen, Ender knows that if he allowed the queen to live at that time other humans would kill it and so he decides that he’ll “go from world to world until” he finds a place “where you can come awake in safety” (320-321). Ender chooses to do what he believes is right. Ender finally takes a chance to learn from his past mistakes and has accepted that there are parts of him that might be like Peter in ways and because of this is finally able to make his choice. This decision gives Ender some closure in a way, for years he had been doing things that do not go with his morals when he was given control and he finally had a chance to do what he thought was right.
I think that Ender compares himself to Peter because they value each other in terms that no one else is able to understand.
Ender only kills/fights to protect himself. Like with Bonzo and Stilson no one can say that they did not start the fight. Especially with Bonzo because he wanted Ender dead. Ender just wanted to end the fight, so he ended that fight and all the ones after it by doing what he did. Ender was tricked into killing off an entire species. When Ender realizes what just happened, that he killed not only the army but the children of the biggers, he is horrified at what he has done. “I didn’t want to kill them all. I didn’t want to kill anybody! I’m not a killer! You didn't want me, you bastards, you wanted Peter, but you made me do it, you tricked me into it!”(Ch.14, Pg.391)(Excuse the language it is a quote). So we can’t blame Ender he was tricked into it and felt terrible after it. A lot of people think Ender is a good child. Graff is very enthusiastic about Ender and rarely ever has something bad to say about Ender. The only person who seems to be the hardest on Ender is himself. He is so worried on becoming his brother, Peter, that he is so hard on himself to make sure he does not turn into
Ender is manipulated to face many hardships. It triggers him to believe that the violent actions he makes, resembles him to his brother, Peter.
All of the following characters have a huge impact on the book Ender’s Game: Ender/Andrew, Valentine, Peter, and Bean. Ender is the main character who is clever, sensitive, belligerent, and hegemonic. Whereas Valentine is clever sensitive, and hegemonic. She is definitely not belligerent. Unlike Valentine, Bean, as well as Peter, can be very belligerent, especially Peter. Although Bean is not very hegemonic. Peter is not the sensitive type, he would much rather hide the love he has for Ender. Although these characters are extremely different, they are still connected through their different emotions that impact each other's lives. Clever is one trait that especially connects Valentine and Peter as siblings.
enders game is about a brave boy that we see grow up in front of our eyes. it's a futuristic story about cowboys, and aliens. it's a military story about how to strategies, and work as a team to complete the mission. it's a story about growing up, and loving your family, and friends. On one instance peter apologizes to ender , and tells him he loves him, he does not know why he treats ender that way. to me peter was just an extreme older brother you see in the movies. He liked the fact that he took on stilson in the front of other kids, and showed them all whose the boss.
Ender has a hard time accepting some parts of himself, especially those that make him similar to his brother, Peter. In chapter 8, Ender tries a computer game in which he goes to the castle and kills the serpent, after this he looks into the mirror and finds Peter’s reflection in it. The image of being as harmful and selfish as his brother is haunting to Ender. A clear example of this is found in pg. 155 where Ender thinks to himself, “I’m doing it again, I’m hurting people just to save myself!”
Peter Wiggins in Ender’s Game is seen by everyone as Ender’s sweet, charming older brother who is very skilled in school. However, around Valentine and Ender, Peter acts entirely different and is so violent to them that he nearly attempts to kill Ender in the second chapter. Peter also does a surprising job of manipulating Valentine because she is younger than him and he knows how to push her to her limit. Valentine Wiggins is more compassionate to Peter than Ender because she doesn’t like how Peter treats Ender due to the fact that he is a daily reminder of Peter’s personal failure to get into battle school. Although Peter knows how to manipulate Valentine to get what he wants out of her, Valentine has the ability to stand her ground against
I am currently reading the book Ender's game by, Orson Scott Card. I am really enjoying this book. This book is exiting, full of action, and does not get boring. This book has a movie, and I have seen it, so I can relate to the movie as I am reading the book. I really like being able to relate to the movie as I am reading because if I get confused I can just think back to what happened in the movie. I have noticed that the main character, Ender and his brother Peter do not get along very well. I inferred this statement based on the statement, “ I could kill you like this, Peter whispered. Just press and press until you're dead.” (card12) I am not sure why Ender's brother Peter treats him like an outsider, but his sister has
In the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, the story is told by Andrew Wiggin, more commonly know as Ender, lived a not so easy life as he was a “third” and many of the schoolmates around him would bully him because of this. His older brother Peter despised him, and his older sister Valentine tried her best to protect Ender from all of the hate around him. Ender got recruited into the international fleet at the age of 6 by Colonel Graff, there in Battle School, which was located in space far from earth, Ender exceed expectations within his training. During his time at battle school he quickly worked his way up the ranks. He made several friends while there, but for the most part stuck to himself. One of the most important friends he
Ender has been through a drastic amount, since he went to space. There are three things in particular that have happened that made him change, grow or learn a lesson. The first being when Bonzo slapped him in front of everyone, the second when Rat battled the Centipede army, last was the time Ender got into a fight with 4 older boys.
The key element in Freud’s Personality Theory, is the Ego which operates “on the reality principle, [and] seeks to gratify the id’s impulses in realistic ways” (Myers). In the novel, Ender symbolized the ego, and developed into a young man that shared his brother Peter’s “ruthlessness” and his sister Valentine’s “compassion” (Card). The relationship that Ender had with his siblings was established at the start of the book, but was not made obvious until towards the end when Ender admitted that “in the moment when [he] truly understand[s] [his] enemy, understand[s] him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment [he] also love[s] him” (Cars). Ender struggled with the battle of loving his enemy throughout the entire novel. Although he was forced to defeat his enemy in order to protect himself, he ultimately hated himself afterwards. A key scene that portrayed this issue was when Ender was confronted by Bonzo, his old team leader, and seven other boys while in the bathroom. Ender was aware of Bonzo’s plan to kill him, so to avoid hurting him, Ender asked him not to provoke a fight. Instead, Bozo attacked him. Ender had no
Ender always steps up when nobody else is willing to; he is a leader not a follower. He stepped up when they were all in space training and had to bounce on the walls with zero gravity. He got it down before any of the members in his training class did. He gets thing thrown at him left and right, but he pushes through and makes it. He gets made fun of because the commanders tell everyone he is the best so they dislike him. He is a smart and strong character. He can make it through.
