The first paper is due by Monday, April 9, 11:59 p.m. You MAY use sources outside of the Liberty Search Engine (and are encouraged to do so). Also you may use scholarly books and not just journal articles. You should avoid using generic websites that do not appear scholarly in nature. A good rule of thumb is that if a website does not have an author, it is not a good source. Good online material has also usually been published in print at some point. Google Scholar and JSTOR are great places to search, as well as the online encyclopedias I've shown you. Always feel free to send me an email if you have questions about sources or formatting.

Rayona is in a way lost and can’t seem to find her place in the world. She thinks about herself in the way that she thinks others think of her. She is fifteen years old at the time and does not have a lot of sense of her self. Rayona is half African American and Native American, which makes her think she’s different from others and makes her have a low self esteem. She struggles with her identity and physical appearance. Another thing that makes it difficult for her to find her true self is that she lacks information about her heritage. Her dream is to have a “normal” life, meaning to have a functional happy family and to be able to fit in. Rayona feels like a real family is the opposite of what she has. Her siblings and she had all different personalities; Raicine was the one who always seemed to think things through, perhaps a little too much. She lived her life as full as she allowed herself, while always thinking about the “what ifs,” before she gave her one-hundred percent. It was a very cautious act, but it held her back in many ways as well. Once in college it took her several years to decide what she wanted to major in. In her mid-twenties, she moved to Nashville for a job. Here was able to figure out the kind of person she wanted to be in life. All of her friends and family were in California so she was able to concentrate solely on
My good friend, Rebekah Dobbins was an exceptional woman. She was loved by many especially by her friends and of course me. She worked extremely hard throughout her life, her short life, but her best life. Living only till her 17th year, she was successful nonetheless working hard in her English class, band, and in theater participating in numerous high school musicals. I feel as though Rebekah really lived by the words of Shakespeare's As You Like It “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.” She truly did play all the parts. She played as a companion, a caregiver to those in need, and never once did she break such a strong character. A true chariot of gold.
In the United States, starting salaries for teachers who have completed a four-year degree are far lower compared to many other professions, which also require a four-year degree. In most states, teachers must undergo testing and other rigorous certification requirements, but they are given the same consideration or status as beginning professionals in other areas. Although attractive incentives are offered, the compensation does not compare to the long hours of work and schooling required for a teaching career.
