The infant presented was to be examined in depth. Concern arose after a typical birth and resent changes that had taken place; exaggerated startle response, twitching and mild muscle tone loss (myoclonic jerks). Straight forward exam of: eyes, ears, nose, throat and so on. With inspection of the eyes it was noted that a spot of cherry red was detected in the eye. Cause of the red spot appearance; is from the macula cells breaking down they then expose the choroid which supplies blood to the retina. Resulting in the red spot appearance when cells have become damaged, with this detection a more in-depth family health history and genic screening would need to occur. Though Tay-sachs (TSD) is suspected it is necessary to verify the suspicion. There

Many places in the world have multiple groups of people. However, throughout time, many of these groups have changed, stayed the same, or have divided into multiple subgroups. These subgroups tend to have their own stereotypes that all tie into one big group of people. Take the rednecks for example. Rednecks have always been around, but through time this big group has turned into different small groups. Although there are many subgroups to the rednecks, the three main ones are the hillbillies, the folk, and the farmers.

Majority of the team names refer to historical meanings and representation of the state the team is in. Like for example, the Cleveland Indians baseball team got its name from the owner, Charles Somers, after he changed the name from “Naps” to “Indians” after a Native American, Louis Sockalexis played for Cleveland in 1914. In this case, the name was given to honor a Native American, but the choice of the name along with the mascot can be deceiving and negative if used in the wrong context. The team’s mascot is an Indian with red skin, long nose, and feather in his hair which is very stereotypical. The term “red skins” has a negative tone to it because years ago it was used as a racial slur. It’s like using the term “negros” or “red necks” as a team name.
Children affected by Tay Sachs disease are born seemingly normal and develop like any other child in the first three to six months of life. Throughout the next month, and sometimes even years, the baby will progressively lose the ability to see, hear, and move. The child will develop a cherry-colored red spot in the back of the eye and they lose or never even gain important motor and mental skills. The child will stop smiling, crawling, sitting, turning over, and reaching for things. By
The stereotypical image of a young African-American male is seen as having lack in intelligence or involved in gang related activities. African-Americans also have the stereotype of not going on to being educated and successful in professional endeavors. But James Mcbride did the opposite and went against the stereotype. In “The Color of Water” by James McBride, he uses the objective of race to illustrate how race is viewed as a stereotype and it doesn’t define an individual. The points that influenced my reasoning were how all 12 of Ruth’s, James McBride’s mother, children each having graduated from college and how Ruth was known to ignore the stereotypes, perceived against African-Americans. Thus, she looked at each of her children being capable of success and as a result her children excelled in life in spite of their race.
Signs and symptoms of the disease do not begin to surface until the child is around six months of age and it begins with gradual dysfunction of the motor skills. As the nervous system further degrades the symptoms become worse and the child loses sight, hearing, and mental functionality. Unfortunately there is no treatment for Tay-Sach’s except comfort measures and the life expectancy for a child with infantile Tay-Sach’s disease is typically four to five years (Ainsworth, 2011). The physician would need to emphasize that maternal age or lifestyle does not have any part in the cause of this diagnosis. The physician would then need to explain the options available at this time which are carrying the child to term or terminating the pregnancy via therapeutic abortion (Tay-sachs.org). Depending on the parent’s decision, should they choose to carry the child, they can also choose to care for the infant or place it for adoption. After the physician has spoken with the family, the RN would need to be there for the family, not only to listen, but again to answer any questions they may have.
Mr. and Mrs. Trosack have recently been told through chorionic villus testing, that their unborn child has Tay Sachs disease. As the case manager there should be several appropriate members identified for an interdisciplinary team to obtain information for the Trosacks ' initial visit. Those team members include, a high risk obstetrician, or perinatologist, obstetric nurses, a geneticist, a social worker, and or genetic counselor who specializes in such genetic diseases, and it would be

There is currently no cure for the disease, but there are many options for treatments and coping.
G.M. was then immediately transferred to Rady Children’s hospital Emergency Room by her parents. Upon nursing assessment she presented with vital signs within the same range from her clinic visit. The diagnosis of the disease, its cause or causes, stage, treatment and prognosis will be sought from the pediatrician.
