A. Classes I found helpful was: 1.) EMS 401: Seminar in Allied Health, this class really open my eyes to various healthcare providers and professions that I was not aware of prior to the PHS program. I was a former radiologic science major (with an interest in radiation therapy). After not being accepted into the radiologic science program; the EMS 401 class help me reevaluate my decisions concerning radiation therapy. It was really helpful and I still own the textbook used in EMS 401. 2.) CP 450: The Job Campaign: In addition to EMS 401, this class was extremely helpful in guiding me towards a career path of my interest and desires in the health profession! I am so grateful for the opportunity to take this class that was taught my USA Career Services Director, Beverly W. Green, who is so nice and helpful! I personally think this is an important class for PHS students to take because we were exposed to various careers topics needed to succeed in the real world setting. To clarify, I was able to correctly reevaluate my resume & cover letter to make sure my format and writing techniques was appropriate and satisfactory for a person who has earned a professional degree. Also, the use of FOCUS 2 is extremely helpful for PHS students to discover the many different careers one can pursue with our PHS degree. Furthermore, I took MGT 305: Organizational Communication with Dr. Maes before taking CP 450, which was also helpful because both classes extensively prepare student for
I started this journey with post secondary schooling in Arts and Science tending toward more science based classes. Then I began to see that Physiology would be the best fit to prepare me for Radiation Therapy. My plan is clear and my University classes should, to my analysis, be a very good pre-entry to Radiation
Twenty percent chance of living and she survived. Claire was diagnosed with stage 4 Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia two weeks after her birth. She is now a thriving eight year old cancer survivor. The researchers, doctors, nurses, and therapists, are the main reason I have an adorable cousin here today. From the moment I heard the magnitude of what my little cousin was battling, I set my goal of a career in medicine, and the Allied Health Academy at Williamstown High School is that right first step to achieving my goal.
I am currently studying Economics with a concentration in Business Administration and Management. As I’ve stated in my previous letter, becoming a Physician’s Assistant was my
Any patient brought into the Emergency Department, is first signed in at ED receptionist desk and triaged by a triage nurse, prioritized and brought to patient room by a charged nurse either by wheelchair or stretcher or walking by the patient depending on patient’s illness. A nurse is assigned to the patient. Emergency Doctor comes in and if the patient illness is life threatening it is stabilized and the Doctor orders test such as blood work and x-ray if necessary to be conducted. Based on the test result the patient is either discharged or admitted. Certain times the emergency department is filled with a lot of patient that there is no place to sit and patients keep coming in and creating
This email is in support of my application for the Medical Assistant position at your medical practice in Northwest Atlanta. I am excited to find this opportunity because it closely aligns with my interests and future aspirations of becoming a Physician Assistant. What is being offered is an opportunity that will allow me to hone and polish my interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, but to also develop new skill sets that some health professionals lack. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from Agnes Scott College and a Master of Public Health from Morehouse School of Medicine. As a Biology major, my coursework allowed me to understand the study of life and how disturbances in the biological systems can influence one’s health. I loved this form of science but realized that managed care plays a greater role in the healthcare system. Thus, I minored in public health and later obtained a Master of Public Health to not only strengthen my knowledge, research abilities, and writing skills, but to also gain the ability to think critically and make decisions that will optimize the benefits of the patient. Both educational experiences have provided me with a solid foundation to build my medical career. I am a very intelligent young woman with a deep interest in two diverse approaches, which will ultimately help bridge the gap between patients and the community. Ultimately, I want a career that not only interacts at the individual level, but at the population level as
Before I attended to HS 200 class, I didn’t have enough information about what kind of jobs that I could get in with bachelors of science in health science degree. I had planed to take MCAT after graduation to involve into medical program. However, my plan was changed since I attended this health science class because of the assignments that I have done during this semester for the class, such as the research of the graduate program and the job search.
The Focus 2 assessment made me realize the career field that I want to pursue. After completing the work interest and personality assessment, the occupation that
The health promotion practicum course helped me explore around town in finding places to do my internship under a licensed Physical Therapy. I took this course since the class can help me discover my own self and see if I am choosing the right path for myself in the future. I did an internship when I was in the community college with my human services course. I volunteered at the activities stations at Hilo Medical Center and worked with nurses. I knew back than, I did not see myself as a Nurse, and that’s where I noticed a Physical therapist and witness up hand, in what they do. From there, I changed my track and I knew I would rather help people in a difference aspect compared to a nurse.

I think this class will be very helpful to us. Our professor is very helpful and provides all the necessary information for each topic. I appreciate the opportunity you gave me to speak with you about the Clinical Information Manager position at Emergency Medical Associates on last week Friday. The job seems to be a perfect match for my skills and interests, and our conversation confirmed my desire to work with you.
We carried with us a hard working system, family values, ambition, and a hope for a better future. Despite facing some life challenges, I was able to complete my undergraduate degree successfully. I am now ready to enter this clinical program, a program that will lead to Radiation Therapy. Starting college, I have always felt that my career should be in healthcare field. I began taking courses biology and chemistry in a thorough understanding of the human
My goal is to have a career in health care management. While researching careers, I discovered health care management. I choose health care management as my career option for two reasons. I’m looking for a career where I can do what I passionate about and impact lives. These are important factor in my career choice. Health care management met my two requirements and at that point I knew this was the career for me. I firmly believe that any career I pursue should be one that I’m passionate about. One of my passions is helping others. Health care managers help patients just as much as doctors, nurses and other clinical professionals. For me it’s very imperative that I find a career were I would have impact the lives of others. This would ensure that I’m fulfilling one of my purposes in life. I 'm ready to experience the emotional and intellectual rewards my MBA will
Safe, effective, patient-centered care delivered in a timely and efficient manner is the goal of quality healthcare. Unfortunately, the delivery of such quality faces serious concerns. The Institute of Medicine (2001) describes the quality gap in healthcare as having three types of problems, “overuse, underuse, and misuse” (p. 23). In recent years, emphasis on improving the quality of care has increased (IOM, 2001). Quality improvement methods, such as plan-do-study-act (PDSA), have successfully enabled health care providers to address the quality gap. The purpose of this paper is to identify a quality healthcare problem, discuss the quality improvement plan, and describe the strategy for implementing effective change using the PDSA method.
