I can only imagine how Mr. Carl Rogers felt when he was asked to speak at the Brandeis University. I had to write a speech in high school for my class and my teacher invited a couple of classes to come to the auditorium to listen to my classmate and my personal speech. I was really nervous but I was proud of myself once I said my speech in front of all those students. Mr. Carl Rogers didn’t seem nervous but he just seems as though he did not know how to present his topics to the senior class. I think it is easy to talk about yourself but the challenging part is explaining it in a way that you don’t make your audience bored. Adults are just like kids and we can’t sit down to listen to someone for a long time before our minds or eyes start to wander around. I like the way Mr. Carl Rogers explained what his book was about “this book is about the suffering and hope, the anxiety, and the satisfaction, with which each therapist’s counseling room is filled”. Reading this part in Mr. Carl Rogers’ book made me feel as if Mr. Carl Rogers really care about his clients. “It is about a client in my office who sits there by the corner of the desk, struggling to be himself, yet deathly afraid of being himself striving to see to see his experience as it is wanting to be that experience, and yet deeply fearful of the prospect”. Mr. Carl Rogers took me as a person who listens to his clients and really tries to help them. “This book is about me, as I sit there with that client, facing him,
Most people go through life not worrying about others thoughts, just throwing stereotypes around without any justification or knowledge of the person being alienated. Some are ungrateful for the religious freedom that most of us are able to carry. Some do not realize the fight that people went through over 300 years ago to gain religious freedom and work through and around the profiling given by the hierarchy of society. No one worked harder for the freedoms to be provided and stereotypes to be dissolved than Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island. Williams, born in London in 1603, was a seasoned young man early on, after witnessing many burnings at the stake of puritans for being "heretics" and not following the religion of the
Interviewer: We know about the murders that you have done to those girls. We’ll start with a simple question, who was your first victim?

Who was George Rogers Clark? This is probably a question most people in America couldn't answer. The reason is very simple, George Rogers Clark was a hero in an age of heroism. He simply could not compare with the legends of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Revolutionary War heroes. Clark nevertheless is very important, especially to the people of Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana who became apart of the United States of America because of his great leadership and bravery in military campaigns at Kaskaskia, Illinois and Vincennes, Indiana during the Revolutionary War.
Anna Quindlen delivers at speech at the Mount Holyoke college, here she expresses her opinion on life and the adversities that she went through during her college years. In her speech she uses a casual tone for instance her use of simples sentences like “Being perfect was hard work, and the hell of it was, the rules of it changed” (Quindlen, 296). Throughout her whole speech she was being very casual and you could see that it was meant for young adults as she gave advice like “ Instead I’d like you to give up Give the backpacks”(Quindlen, 299). Furthermore her speech is arranged so it is very much like an anecdote, and in this anecdote she uses devices like pathos and ethos to appeal to her audience in order to bond and give a meaning
Will Rogers Memorial Museum is located on a lofty hillside in Claremore, Oklahoma. The museum was designed by John Duncan Forsythe and is financed by a two hundred thousand dollar funding by the Oklahoma legislature. Will Rogers is honored in Oklahoma because he was a humorous person who did newspaper columns, radio shows, was an Indian and cowboy, and he helped raise awareness for the rights and needs of Native Americans Indians. He was a caring person who wanted the best for everyone. Rogers did a lot to make some of these things happen. He always wanted to be the person who was always helping. Also he was a person who people were confused about because he was a cowboy and an Indian, but he wanted to show people that you could be both.
Richard Rogers Richard Charles Rodgers was a great composer. He learned to play the piano as a toddler. Rodgers inherited his love of the theater from his family. He composed his first melody at summer camp. By the age of 15, he had chosen musical theater as his profession.
By describing his life events, such as failure, he makes himself sound more human, and not as much as a celebrity as he really is. He uses Pathos mostly throughout the speech to create an emotional bond with his audience. Instead of using facts and stats to convey his message, he uses emotion and logic. “Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.” The way he connects them with failure makes him sound like he is way more like them than he really
I think my view of human nature is pretty positive, I think with the right upbringing and environment that everyone can be a decent human being. I think in terms of Counseling I fall in line heavily with the Carl Rogers idealist viewpoint, I think it’s safe to say I’m a humanist. I strongly believe that no one is born evil, I think it’s something bred into people. I believe the changes in behavior arise mostly due to; not having a loving parental figure, growing up in a low socioeconomic level in society, and if they suffer from some type of trauma. To me the evidence is when you go into the past of the most depraved individuals in society, usually they have something in their past that changed their behavior.
It's somewhat known, in the world of acting, that actors become very successful if they begin their profession at a young age. The younger the actor is, the more time the actor has to perfect his or her craft. Additionally, many female child actors have aged into mega stars: Abigail Breslin, Michelle Trachtenburg, Alexa PenaVega, and Mackenzie Rosman, just to name a few. Recently, an eleven-year-girl named Kylie Rogers, has added her name to the list of child stars in Hollywood. And rightfully so. Kylie Rogers has quickly transformed into the greatest child actor of this generation. She is honestly my favorite. Kylie is the favorite of any television watcher.
This public speaking course has taught me alot by helping me to become a better person and by growing me into something I never thought I could be.Speaking out loud always made me nervous, even when I was just reading a sentence from a book to some of my closest friends. Even though we are not even halfway through the school year, I have learned and improved so much. One of the first things this class had taught me was all about body language and how to present yourself to make an impression. Little things that we do can make us seem small, such as slouching, crossing our arms and legs, and looking at the ground, while others make us appear big, for instance, stretching, sitting up straight, and taking up alot space. Properly presenting yourself is important and can make a big difference in your life, whether it is for a job interview, meeting new people, or speaking in front of your peers. I have also learned to control and overcome my nervous habits, for example, playing with my hair, rocking back and forth, and moving my hands. Habits like these show the audience that you are nervous and it may turn their attention away from your speech and onto your actions. The audience-speaker relationship was also a great thing to learn. This relationship shows cause and effect, for example, when you lose the attention of your audience you may begin to second guess yourself leaving you to becoming nervous and self conscious. You then may start to panic and your speech may become a
It is inevitable that in psychotherapy there are numerous theories. Theories arise out of scholarly investigations of ideas on human behavior. Human behavior is an extraordinarily interesting subject and therefore produces a plethora of ideas from a variety of theorists. These theorists are influenced by their education, culture, and time period. One influential theorist is Carl Rogers. His contributions to human behavior have changed many of the theories that preceded him, and his theory contributed to many theories that followed.
