Experiential Relaxation Program Training Guide
Goal of the Program
At work and at home, we all encounter situations that induce pressure and stress. Prolonged stress like this – if it’s not managed well – can have a significant impact on overall well-being. Research has demonstrated that simple tools such as deep breathing and visualization, can help us relax and gain control of the stress, helping us feel happier and perform better. That said, time pressure often makes one feel as if there just aren’t enough opportunities during the day to cool down and decompress. That’s why we have created this “Relaxation Break” experience, which provides a hands-on way to learn relaxation techniques that are easy to implement, all in just a few minutes. Overview
The relaxation specialist will be stationed in a break room, conference room, or other convenient location, to provide one-on-one coaching in ten minute appointments. The first several minutes of each session will be used to teach a relaxation technique. To demonstrate the mind-body connection in real time, and demonstrate the power of the technique, the relaxation specialist will use a biofeedback device, which measures heart rate variability, while the

Please arrive 30 minutes before the first session to prepare the space. In advance, or on arrival, the facilitator will receive a schedule with appointments as well as time for walk-ins. The relaxation specialist typically sees six to eight people back-to-back with a ten minute “break” after each set. The break provides a buffer for those who may have been late for their appointment. After each session, the participant will receive both a handout with step-by-step instructions of the technique as well as a feedback form. Approximately one half to two thirds of the time slots should be dedicated appointments, the others, walk-ins. Here’s an example of a possible
An example of this routine is shown in stress management book and is as follows “Phase 1: Heaviness-My arms and legs feel heavy, Phase 2 Warmth: My arms and legs feel warm (the phrases in phase 1and 2 are repeated 3 times) Phase 3 Heart: My heart is calm and relaxed. The segment goes into 3 more phases which involved breath, the solar plexus and forehead and continues to have one repeat brief calming phrases while breathing very deeply and slowly. (Seaward). The practice can become more detailed and have the person focus on the movement of blood through the
In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts, Unwind, written by Neal Shusterman, shows a dystopian world in which adults have the power to end a teen's life as they knew it. The teens are sent to harvest camps (chop shops) to be "unwound" for organs and other body parts to be sold to hospitals all over the country. The novel focuses on three teens, Connor, Risa and Lev who escape the reality of being unwound by desperation, chance and a lot of help. I was reaffirmed that not knowing whether pro-life or pro-choice is the right answer is necessarily a bad thing and it is good to be open to both. My beliefs were challenged when looking at the issues of organ donation
For many people with hectic, stressful lives, relaxation means zoning out in front of the TV at the end of the day or getting some extra sleep at the end of the weekend, but for a certain group of people relaxing does not include this. These people are called yogis; those who achieve relaxation through the art of meditation, breathing, stretching, and finding inner peace. In today’s fast paced society it is hard to find a way to fully relax because people are constantly being forced to push their minds and bodies to the limit, which can result in high levels of stress. Rather than fighting against life’s hardships, people who practice yoga value deep relaxation in order to be free of stress and live each day in peace and harmony

Sessions can be either 30 minute or 50 minutes. We recommend for the initial session to book 50 minutes.
During the initial session, professional specialists teach patients some relaxation exercises. Then, they teach them how to identify the circumstances that trigger their physiological symptoms. Next, they are taught how to physically avoid or cope with stress triggers and environments. Patients are encouraged to alter their thought patterns, lifestyle habits and consequential choices. Biofeedbacking cannot cure diseases or make people healthy. Instead, it is a holistic tool used by health care professionals to help their patients raise awareness and take greater control over their behavior, thoughts and
This program consisted of 15 minutes of daily audio sessions. Everyday, for five consecutive weeks, the participating employees will be guided through brief body scans and sitting meditation sessions. During regular working hours, they will be invited to listen to a 10-mins audio session in the morning before beginning their work and an additional 5-mins audio session just after lunch.
This was an interesting experience to say the least, I have never ever lead something like this in my life. Therefore, they were many mishaps and funny circumstances. Nonetheless, it was an enlightening experience I will not easily forget. First and foremost, I have noticed that few of the muscle relaxation script, I read were not properly written. What do I mean by that? I mean that they do not properly detailed what they want the participant to do. This leads me to word many actions they wanted differently to get the proper reaction they were meant to get. The script I ended up picking at the end was extremely well written on what they wanted you to achieve with your body.

Biofeedback provides physiologic information not normally available to the patient, with a concerted effort on the part of the patient to use this feedback to help alter the physiologic process in some specific way. Biofeedback training is done either in individual or group sessions, alone, or in combination with other behavioral therapies designed to teach relaxation. A typical program consists of 10 to 20 training sessions of 30 minutes each. Training sessions are performed in a quiet, nonarousing environment. Subjects are instructed to use mental techniques to affect the physiologic variable monitored, and feedback is provided for successful alteration of that physiologic parameter. The feedback may be in the form of lights or tone, verbal

Throughout life stress is a common problem whether it’s at work, school or home. The many negative effects of stress in fact affect individuals differently varying from health issues to work performance. Therefore, all individuals have different views of stress and various ways of handling it or otherwise managing their stress. Stress is when any living thing feels endangered and its homeostasis is at risk (Varvogli & Darviri, 2011, p. 74). Ways of dealing with stress are efforts of cognitive, behavioral, and psychological nature that allows a person to manage stress. Although there are different causes of stress, there are also many techniques for relieving it. The following articles are intended for the reader to
“Everyone has the ability to experience deep relaxation; it's hardwired into their nervous system. They just need to be able to let go and become aware of the stress in their life.” Eli Bay, the founder of the Relaxation Response Institute, said in an interview.
Relaxation has never been easy, but it has been proven to occur when one’s mental processes and muscles have been relaxed. It is a very safe method and can be practiced through many different techniques. It has remained side by side to help with areas of therapy and has been very beneficial to countless of people worldwide.
Relaxation is necessary in one’s day to day active life. A person must work hard but his energy is limited, and if he spends too much of it he will soon feel tired. Even a machine cannot work for a long time at a stretch and it is given rest at regular intervals, otherwise it gets out of order. To move out of our daily hectic schedule life or more specific to relax, we need to perform several activities of our choice to get relax, which also provide amusement, benefit to us. Some of them that I follow are dancing, swimming and watching movies or watching Television.
