His little brother LaMelo Ball could lose his NCAA eligibility for making and profiting off his own signature shoe. These athletes all have something in common. All these athletes, these people have either had their eligibility taken or in jeopardy because they were profiting off their image, content, or likeness. College coaches, programs, and schools make millions off their student athletes and the NCAA billions off the student athletes. As more people
Football players will still play football even though they could get a serious injury, and possibly never play again. They know the risks that could happen while they are playing during a game or at practice. If they get an injury that they have to stop playing for a bit they will recover and keep on playing when the doctor says that they are alright to play. Football players get the education that they need about their injuries, and they are told that some injuries could end their football career. Getting an injury could cause a long-term injury and they could never play football again. Some long term risks that football players are in risk for are joint damage, from being hit over and over as time goes on your bones and joints become weaker, causing older athletes at greater risk of an injury.
As I said, football players risk injury, “ Football players are nearly seven times more likely to be injured during a game than in practice”(Burris 1). Some of the injuries they may fall to are concussions. It is known that “Concussions make up 7.4 percent of all injuries in college football players” (Burris 1). Many of the football injuries can affect their lives forever. “The athletes also reported more limitations in daily activities and more major and chronic injuries” (Burris 1).
To start off, conditioning and practicing is a necessary part of football. Conditioning is when you physically make your body stronger and more equipped for a sport. In the article “ How Dangerous is High School Football?”, it stated that “ ...because we observed high levels of ankle and knee injuries, we recommend increased conditioning of ankles and knees and rule changes aimed on protecting these vulnerable body sites.” This sentence from the article is a prime example on how football is safe because they are helping the vulnerable and weaker parts of your body stay protected, which in doing so helps prevent injuries. This shows how they are not only tackling big issues, but small issues as well. Not only is conditioning a big role in football, practice is also required for the game. Practicing helps players learn the game of football in a safe way. According to the article “Hard Knocks”, “... one recent study found out
Seattle's pass defense has collapsed without Earl Thomas, ranking fifth in Football Outsiders DVOA through Week 11 but 30th out of 32 teams since Thomas missed his first game in Week 12. However, Detroit's passing game has similarly collapsed since Matthew Stafford hurt his finger early in Week 14, ranking 10th through Week 13 but 27th over the past four weeks. It would seem those matching declines would cancel each other out, but the problem for Detroit is that Seattle is better at everything else except special teams. Detroit has little ground attack, while Seattle has one of the 12 best run defenses since FO advanced stats began in 1989. Seattle's offense has been only average this season, but the Detroit defense is much worse than it looks.

College athletics plays a major role in the sports world today and will continue to be as it is growing more and more popular. With this, is the ever-growing issue of athletes in their respective programs being paid as employees. This issue has been clouding college athletics for some time and it is becoming a much larger topic since athletes feel that they should be compensated for their services. Cowhisperer 3On the flip side, an important point to understand about the game of football is that it, like allprofessional crafts, do not just begin their first day on the job. Like most every other job, people spend agood portion of their lives working to achieve their goals, working to be the best, but that takes time! For many players, football begins as young as seven or eight years old, and continues every fall until theygraduate from high school. After that period, the pool of players narrows significantly to only those whoare talented enough to play for a university. Finally, once a player leaves college to enter into the NFLdraft to potentially begin his pay-for-play career, only then has he reached his goal. Following the mostcommon format (given above), it would
As in high school football the level of how the sport is played is very intense. Reasons for that is kids playing football in high school may want to take their degree farther and play football in college or better yet, if there that good maybe they can make it too the NFL. In my personal opinion. I believe that if you put your mind to it, but the level of intensity you take from the game it will show how you will maybe one day get your shot

To play college football you need to be dedicated, because it is just like having a full time job. College football players are constantly working on their game and improving their skills. Before the football season starts, the workload for these athletes are about 50 to 60 hours of training per week. That is crazy compared to what a normal student works with a PAYING job. A college student works about 20 hours per week on average. When the football season begins the workload is 40 to 50 hours, and they have to manage their time with school. These players barely get any breaks, but when they do it is only for a couple of days. NLRB said, ‘’while these players are allowed to leave campus for several days before Christmas, they must report back by Christmas morning.’’ Furthermore, after the season spend many hours on weight training and preparing for spring and summer practices.

Concerning the facts of a football athlete actually getting chosen to play professionally is 1.6% (Estimated).
