A couple years ago, on Cinco De Mayo, we had a soccer game. We went to the game and afterwards Taylor’s family and my family wanted to go out to eat. Because it was Cinco De Mayo, we decided to go to La Mesa, a
Cinco De Mayo is celebrated on the 5th of May. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated to remember the victory for Mexico over France in 1962 and was at the battle of Puebla (Staff, 2009). However, in Mexico, Cinco De Mayo isn't considered a major holiday (Staff, 2009). Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture (Staff, 2009). We will talk about the history of Cinco De Mayo, and explain the difference between the two holidays.
Mexico Independence Day is always celebrated on September 16th. Mexico gained their independence on September 16th, 1810. Many mexicans celebrate their independence day with fireworks. Many families also have fiestas on this special day in September. On this day people eat a lot of food and drink a lot of drinks. People also will gather around and dance and sing and play music on this day as well. Mexico’s Flags are also flown in the air on this day as well. People have lots of decorations of Mexico’s colors which is Red, White, and Green. Many people plant flowers this day as well. Usually the colors of the flowers are Red, White, & Green. Whistles are blown on this day as well and lots of screaming is done too. People
My person I have researched for Hispanic Heritage Month is Pam Munoz Ryan. Pam Munoz Ryan was born in Bakersfield, California’s San Joaquin valley on December 25, 1951. Pam Munoz Ryan was a famous book writer. She has won many awards such as, the Pura Belpre Medal, the Jane Addams Peace Award, and an ALA Top Ten Books for young adults, The Willla Carther Award, and the California Young Readers Award. The majority of these awards were earned by her most popular book Esperanza Rising.
For Dia de los muertos I am going to represent my dog Nani. She was very furry and her color was blonde. I could hold her in my arms because she was super tiny. I would describe Nani as a nice, kind, sweet, and awesome dog. The sad part though is that she died last year.
Cinco de Mayo means the fifth of May. It is not an independence day for Mexico like most unknowledgeable people think. Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on the 15th of September. Mexico declared independence from Spain on the 24th of August 1821. Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday either. Mexico and the United States savor this holiday because it is the day where Mexican peasants/ commoners defeated the French and Mexican traitor army that double them in size in Puebla, Mexico one hundred miles away from Mexico city on the 5th of May, 1862.
I my eyes being Hispanic means any number of things to me but above all being Hispanic means that I’m part of a community and a culture who works are and is always successful in all that they do. Being Hispanic is always being proud of who you are, where you come from and all that you have regardless of how little or how much. But perhaps one of the most beautiful things about being Hispanic is our culture, our community, and our beliefs as a culture we look out for each other and respect each other we do our best to build a community and a family everywhere we go.
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the Latino contribution, and also lets us recognize that America's cultural diversity, and the contributions of all its citizens, have made our fabric strong throughout history. Latinos have prominently participated in building the West, in entertainment, business, education, civil rights, politics, and in our great American pastime of baseball. There are also a large number of magazines, newspapers, radio stations and other media outlets directed specifically towards the Latino market, confirming that this group provides a major influence on our culture.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is through September 15 to October 15 in the United States, it represents the Hispanic and Latino Americans heritage and culture. September 15 was chosen for the starting point for the celebration of Hispanic Heritage month because that was the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries. The five Latin American countries where Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. But Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence day on September 16 and September 18. America is 60% hispanic compared to 45% of Caucasians and 50% of African Americans, so the hispanic and latino population is growing more and more in America. Also besides english, spanish is the #2 language in America.
An immigrant that is coming to the United States has the emotion and perception that draws to a country of opportunities; that will live in a country that will be friendly. However, most of the time, immigrant do not know that they are coming to live in a different culture, and because of that, they need to experience and adjustment in many ways, and an adjustment that will help them to do many things with confidence.
A group that I believe has its own culture and the group I identify with is the Latino group. Latin countries include Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, and many more. The reason why we all fit into that group is that we share common values, practices, and of course, we speak a common language.
Being a Hispanic can have its ups and downs. In today's modern society, there are many racial terms that are put against Hispanics. Examples of these can stretch from calling someone an illegal immigrant to making jokes that we Hispanics ‘all eat tacos’. I don’t know if racism will ever end, but I do know many people are being affected by it. So, what being a Hispanic means for me is to show the world that we are not all this stereotypical drug lord, or murderer. My parents were indeed illegal immigrants at one point. They through many difficult battles to get into this country in hopes of a better life. I want to build on from that, and show how a family from one generation to another can become the next CEO of NASA or President of the United

Not everyone is born free and equal, but everyone is made equal. Immigration across the United States has created many different perspectives and opinions over the movement. Social and political departments have created a discussion and issue for this subject. The most common or popular immigrants in the United States are Hispanics, but there is a vast migration of Asians as well. Stereotypes are created in order to censor the positive actions of each other and have created a platform that censors Asian immigrants in the immigration movement. These two cultures are created blinded influences and impacts in the United States. Anti-Immigration is rhetoric and bias
I have chosen the Hispanic population to discuss and explore what issues and health concerns are most prevelant within this community. The Hispanic population is one of the largest and fastest growing racial minorities in the United States. Growing at such a staggering rate in the year 2015 it was estimated that the number calculated was around 15million. Making up 17% of the nations population the numbers are only expected to expand even larger come the year 2060 to at least 29% ( Barrera G.A , Lopez H. M, 2015). What makes this population so unique is that under the cultural Hispanic umbrella you also have Latinos, European, African and Native American. When it comes to social economics issues they experience a high rate of poverty, unemployment,
