Power Plant to Plant Power I have an idea for what we should put on the DTE Power plant site. If we tear the building down what will we put there? Will it be interesting will it be boring? In my opinion I think that a homeless shelter a soup kitchen and maybe a volunteer center, should be put on the site. I think that these things can be put there for resons that I will explain later in the paper. So I hope that you understand why we need these thing on the site. In my opinion I strongly believe that we should have a Homeless Shelter. It will help people that are still sleeping on the streets. They are freezing and the can die from hunger. Yeah some of them did something's that they aren't proud of. But did you know that still if you have an amazing job you could loose it all by the blink of an eye. Even if you have all this money. You could loose it all from interest in a house a car in anything. You could be a homeless person in just a second. What would you do in that kind of situation. Some people believe or not don't even believe that the homeless exist. What if they saw what it felt like then they would know how it feels. What if we could have something else to help. …show more content…
With the homeless shelter people could also have something to eat. That can sometimes save somebody's life. If you were out on the streets starving to death. Would you extremely appreciate it if you had someone looking out for you? I know that I sure would. What if somebody really wanted to help what would we have to let them help
We need to find better programs for hungry people in the United States and other countries. We also need to set up better homeless shelters especially in big cities because that where you will find people who are hungry the most. We need to increase minimum wages in this country so that people can afford to pay their bills and pay for food as well. We also need way less homeless people on the streets. Whenever i go to big city like Madison or Chicago I see homeless people asking for money but question is can you trust them with the money you gave them. I think some homeless people cannot be trusted if you give them money they might use it for wrong uses. In my opinion it would be better to give homeless people food rather than money. I think it would be more christian like to help homeless people out rather than ignoring them. I think some things have to change to improve our help with homeless
The homeless shelters could be improved with proper funding and allow more room for people. Many homeless people dislike the shelters because of the lack of quality or overcrowding, so this solution would be perfect. However, it’s not exactly perfect because the funding would have to come from somewhere, and that would most likely be the rich people’s taxes. Another solution could be programs that find the homeless somewhere to stay and a suitable job that would help them get back on their feet. But once again, funding is a major issue. This is why slavery would be ideal; it’s a win-win situation for
Accessibility to affordable housing for the homeless in an issue that not only influences the impoverished, but people of all races. The insufficiency of stable housing forces individuals who are facing extreme poverty, at times, to make choices that are out of their control. The loss of employment and distressful events that have occurred in their lives can eventually lead to a person or a family becoming homeless.
There should be more homeless shelters in America to get people off the streets forever to help people who need it to make America a better place.
The U.S. government, middle, and upper-class citizens in the United States should come together and fund communities in large cities like Chicago in the next couple years to lower the amount of homeless people living on the city streets. In these communities they can build schools for those with children so they can learn while their parents work and build income. As well as providing two to three community hot meals for the families to eat. They can even build facilities where the homeless who struggle with addictions live and receive treatment such as counseling and inspirational speakers visit to share their testimonies.
My capstone project is on homelessness and preventative methods. Research on the various factors that are associated with homelessness and how to best reduce or end the homeless situation. Research shows that there are many suggestions on methods to reduce homelessness (the Homeless First Program) which have proven to reduce the numbers in various states across America (Tsemberis, Gulcur & Nakae, 2004). The homelessness problems are multifaceted with overlapping of other factors such as mental illness and risks, which include substance abuse, health disparities, and victimization, all of which have a role in the homelessness (Canton, Dominguez, Schanzer, Hasin, Shrout, Felix, McQuistion, Opler & Hsu, 2005).
“Homeless is more than being without a home. It is tied into education needs, food, security; health issues both mental and physical, employment issues, etc. Don’t forget the whole picture.” (“Boxed In” 2005 pg. 108)
Many People in our community believe that the police and government should be removing the homeless camp away from us. But I think that they should stay so we can come together as a community and help them out and try and get them back on their own feet. Helping them doesn't mean you have to come out and give them money, money isn't everything. Just having a connection with them would be good even just going out and helping supply groceries would be good if we come together as one community, we could easily just donate twenty to thirty dollars a piece and go shopping for them. Instead of kicking them out and sending them elsewhere, why don't we join a fundraising community by doing that we could do many events just a few a month and we could use that money that was earned to help them out. Think about the little kids that are in that camp with their parents and you just wanna kick and throw them out on the streets you don't care as long as they are away from you and your house you are fine. We don't
There are homeless people all over the streets nowadays. With the job marketing going the way it’s going the growth of the homeless is becoming larger. There are all ages of the homeless and most of them are trying to find a job. I believe that the government should help get the homeless off the streets, that way it would be better for everyone, no more begging for money on the corners the homeless could find a way for them to. The government could open shops, help provide work in the community for the homeless, and provide shelter at night.
It would seem as if a homeless person could get a job, then they can stop begging and find a place to stay. I’m sure we have all thought this to ourselves or said this to someone else. I have looked at the lives of people living on the street and have asked, “why do they choose to be homeless, just get a job”. There are many assumptions about homeless people. The most common one is that all of them are too lazy to work. Now if we really stop to think about their condition, we will see many things that could lead someone to be homeless. Some are forced by circumstances. Homelessness can happen to anyone. I image that all homeless people would rather choose to have a good night’s rest, a warm place to be when its cold outside, and food to eat daily than to be on the street. I admit to being guilty of thinking that all homeless people were just too lazy to work in the past, but with a dose of compassion, I see them with new eyes. All homeless people are not lazy. I cannot imagine how it would be to live one day without the comfort of my warm and cozy house. It is our job to extend courtesy to everyone, those with jobs and those without.
Surviving homelessness is a struggle. With people walking by you when, you ask for money or help, sleeping in the hot or cold, not eating for days. Going back Janacek, he stated that everyday the shelter workers, would send him and every other person that was staying there to the streets. Even if you find a shelter to stay at while homeless, it is not a guarantee that you will stay there until you find a job, or home. There are about 5,253 homeless people in the city of Toronto (estimated in 2013), and there are only 41 shelters as of 2015. So no everyone will be able to stay multiple or even one day at a shelter. Not only this, homeless people have a more difficult time finding a job according to the huffington post. In the article written by christine schanes, it states that to get a job “people must be clean and wear clean clothing”. So if a person doesn’t have access to a shower, toilet or anything that keep us clean, how does society expect them to get a job? So the next time a homeless person asks you for money, or anything, try putting yourself in their
There is one federally funded program in which we will talk about later that helps homeless individuals get the care they need. There is a dire need for more programs that assist the homeless because the number one reason they are homeless is because they cannot afford housing. If they cannot afford this they probably will not be able to afford the necessities to live a healthy lifestyle. When youths and adolescents succumb to homelessness they are at a greater risk, because they do not have the resources an adult would. They have a disadvantage of employment opportunities and are a greater risk of not completing high school. Youths will lack the ability to receive health care, which will create problems in their overall health because they will not be able to receive the care they need in the instance of sickness, injury or access to medicines. There are countless reasons that adults succumb to being homeless. Some are that a job was lost, mental health is prevalent among them, substance abuse and spouse abuse. Adults who are experiencing homelessness have some of the same problems that youths do as well. An adult not being able to receive health care is very serious especially for older homeless adults. Sickness and serious health problems are more prevalent in older adults resulting in untimely death and the spreading of sicknesses and diseases. I have some establishments offering free haircuts to the homeless if they are preparing for an interview. I have also
One of the problems at hand that not only us, in the United States have but, all around the world in different countries have, is homeless people.
In one of my visits in chicago, I never fail to see a homeless man sitting on the corner of a sidewalk. I feel that advertisements on TV can only go so far. The one where they ask for donations for injured animals and play that sad background music, it make me tear up, but doesnt effect me enough to pick up my phone and donate. We need a more hands-on approach. We can fundraise, collect loose change, ask for donations from people to people. I think with a little government funding, we can set up places for the homeless to sleep at night. We can run a soup kitchen or even buy food and blankets for
I believe homeless people should be helped by giving them useful resources, encouraging them to get an education, and guiding them to opportunities they can reference to succeed on their own.
