The word revenge holds quite a power. Revenge is “ the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands” -(Google Definition). This action has not only consumed many, but has underlined the true fairness as well. In the play Hamlet revenge becomes a problem for the characters and in a sense drives the play. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, revenge causes the characters in Hamlet to lash out in anger and emotion rather than think logically in judgement. The need for revenge has faced the kingdom from the beginning due to the unfairness of land ownership. Hamlet seems to be the most taken over through revenge. Although Hamlet wants to fulfill this action he begins to obsess over it too much where he starts to over think what he is going to do. Hamlet begins to plan a way to reveal what he knows about Claudius and start the revenge in a way. He gets these actors to come in and give a play that he has reworded in order to portray a different meaning. The meaning lead by this play is to show Claudius isn't innocent and that he had killed King Hamlet. Hamlet truly doesn't think abut this is going to affect everyone he is just angry and he wants to try to fulfill this action of revenge. Gertrude tries not to believe this but she is faced with the reality and truth. After the play Hamlet gives his true intake on it and how “the spirit that I have seen may be the devil; and the devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape; yea, and perhaps, out of my weakness and my melancholy, as he is very potent with such spirits, abuses me to damn me. I'll have grounds more relative than this. The play's the thing wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king" (Act 2, Scene 2, 627-634). Hamlet was starting to doubt if what the Ghost had told him was true so he insisted on using the play to show the enlight the truth of the situation.
