Introduction The American Revolutionary War was a very important event in history because that's what gave the colonist's freedom. In the time period between the war the British had made these rules that the colonist's had not liked so the colonist's started these acts. For example, there was the Boycott of British goods and the Boston tea party. Those acts spark the war because King George III didn’t like the rebellion of the colonist's so he sent British soldiers to keep an eye on the colonist's. There were battles that also spark the war, such as the battle of Lexington and concord, also the battle of Saratoga those battles spark the war and the King had enough so he sent troops to the colonies and then the war started. In 1774, Washington was nominated the President of the Continental Convention to oversee the event. The following year he was delegated as the Commander of the Continental army and led the colonist to victory. Among Washington’s qualities were courage and leadership, he had an ability to lead the colonists in battles and fight the British for a new republic. One battle explains the crossing of the Delaware River, where the colonist attacked the British and made them retreat winning Trenton and Priceton. Another two important battles were Saratoga (1777) and Yorktown (1781) were Bristish armies were defeated and captured serving as a turning point for the British. (at the time the colonists might of thought that he was a good leader because he fought for them) Benjamin Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers of our constitution. He proposed the Albany Plan of Union to join the colonists together and fight the British, but the colonist were not ready to join forces yet. Franklin also contributed and drafted the Declaration of Independence in 1776 to free the colonists from the British. Once the war was coming to an end Franklin helped create the Treaty of Alliance with France to help end the war, which was signed in 1773. And finally Franklin signed our Constitution in 1778 for the 13 colonies freedom.
